It took 21/2 hours to book our flights yesterday with Virgin
DH called to book our flights, he was on hold for 20minutes only to find out that the our chosen dates had sold out of miles plus money flights. So DH had to hang up to discuss with me what we wanted to do.
We decided on our new dates, checked availability on the website and then called back.
On hold for eternity again so decided to book online instead. We filled in all the details and clicked confirm to get some strange error message about the billing address not matching the card. We rechecked everything and tried again, same message. We rechecked again and tried the third and final time and got the same error message again and our booking was cancelled.
DH went back on the phone to ring Virgin and book over the telephone. Whilst he was on the phone Barclays fraud prevention telephoned us and left a message. They had put a stop on our card due to the three failed attempts on our card. Of course we didn't know this as we were currently on hold with Virgin.
DH finally gets through to someone and was able to book our flights. This was difficult because the person on the phone didn't have a very clear English accent and found it hard to understand my DH
DH was getting very frustrated at this point.
We then get off the phone to find the message from Barclays so DH calls Barclays, explains the situation and gets the stop taken off the card. However he then has to call Virgin a thrid time to make sure that the payment for our flights had gone through due to the stop on our card
However the good news is that our flights are now booked and our accomodation so we are all ready to go
Just need to wait until Monday 9th February - Monday 23rd February 2009

.x.
He eventually gave up and phoned back and insisted we did not get put through to India. The girl from Virgin was then able to book our holiday for us saying that there was no record of the online booking. All was well until a few weeks later when we received 3 envelopes in the post one day from Virgin, one confirming that we had paid the deposit and 2 more saying we had not. The attempts to book the flights online had actually succeeded and we had 3 separate bookings! It took several weeks of phoning and letters before Virgin sorted it out - so be warned!
- i am still waiting for my confirmation and it has now been 4 weeks (so much for the 7-10 day promise!!!!)
