AAA Wishes viewing area

This is the answer I just got from my agent too.

"I contacted Disney this afternoon and the 'AAA Wishes' are actually
discontinued. They were a portion of the old packages from last year."

I don't really care one way or the other - I just want Disney and AAA to get there @#$%@ story straight on what is and isn't a part of their packages.

I'm really regretting keeping my reservation with AAA after the "free dining" codes came out. I had no financial incentive to do so, but I figured it was all the same and maybe we'd use the AAA parking pass. So far, not worth it at all.

I noticed this post and wanted to reply. We too went to AAA to book our 1st ressie. We paid the down payment, and then full payment. Once MYW+dining came out, I asked about switching. My agent was very nice, and a Disney Lover (big +) but wasn't as knowledgable as I require.

Hey, us Dis'er require extra attention....am I right?? :teeth:

Anyway, I called WDW Travel just to inquire about switching. She gave me a price LOWER than AAA, MORE PERKS and better information. I told her that I already had ressie with AAA. She said she could hold the ressie we were looking at until I decided. I called AAA, they were able to call Disney and "move" our money paid to new ressie, no problem.

I am much more secure about our new ressie with WDW travel co. It is cheaper (though honestly not by much, but still cheaper), I can call Disney whenever I want to inquire about anything or make ressies, PLUS I got Luggage Tags......that may have been reason enough :earsgirl:

Anyway, food for thought. Have fun!!!

Any idea WHY it was cheaper? What sort of "extras" did you end up with? Had you already paid your balance with AAA?

AAA charged my credit card today for the balance of our trip (52 days out) so they can get it to Disney by 45 days out. Not sure if it is worth the hassle of changing now...

I know in PAST (2002) I had a pkg. booked through WDTC and it came with vouchers that I had to call a number and tell them what date and how many for reserved area. When we arrived at area we had to hand over our vouchers and get our name checked off list to get into viewing area. And yes the view is rather crappy imo.

Here is the response I got from my AAA TA. " I also asked about the viewing area for the Wishes show and that is for the people booked into Disney's Grand Gathering which is for groups of 8 or more booked into a package that they arrange certain areas for them."

We used the AAA viewing area for the fireworks 1 time. Although it was not crowded, I was not impressed with the "exclusive" viewing location. I'll take the crowds on Main Street for a better castle view.
I was more impressed with the location of the AAA Jungle Parade viewing location. They have a whole bridge set aside to see the parade.

Please do tell more!!!! Is this only for the groupes of 8 or more people "Grand Gathering?" or is it for all AAA Platnium ticket holders??? Also how recent did you see this location?

ARG! First I've heard of this - can you share any more info? Where is it? Which of my many cards will I need to show for access?

We booked the trip through AAA and made a reservation for the viewing area through AAA. We had a voucher in our trip packet to get into the viewing area on a certain day. I think AAA also had a viewing area at Epcot too. This was back in our December trip. We are going in 2 weeks, but booked through Disney, so I'm not sure if AAA still has this.

This is still part of the "OLD" plan. Come on everyone...someone RECENT must have some scoop on this subject for us!

Back in 2003 DW and I booked the old Dream Maker Silver Plan that came with the special viewing sites. The Mk fireworks site is as shown by the OP. The DAK parade viewing site is on the bridge connecting Africa to Discovery island, near Dawa Bar where the acrobats perform. There was also a special IllumNations viewing site at the Friendship Dock by Morocco in the WS. The parade site was by far the best of the three and IllumiNations was the worst.

Just a bump to see if anyone has used this area lately ??? Ask my AAA ta about this a couple of weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back yet....

I asked my AAA agent about it and she said a voucher used to come with your other documents. Her suggestion was to wait for my papers to come in and see if there is anything in there that says it is for fireworks. :confused3

We will have the Diamond Card that gives us discounts and whatever, plus our regular AAA membership card so if we don't get a voucher we may just try to talk our way in with the documents we DO have. ;)

Or we might just elbow our way in over on Main Street with the rest of the throngs! :teeth:

I agree that the AAA location in MK is not the best for viewing Wishes. I like a clearer, unobstructed view because I LOVE fireworks. (DH and I like to stake out a spot on railing of the upper deck of the train station). We aren't that interested in AK parades, but I would really like to know where the preferred AAA seating is for Illuminations. Epcot is my favorite park, and with the F&W festival going on during our visit, we'll be spending lots of time there.

Subscribing to this thread...we booked our 9/12 trip MYW through AAA and I also questioned WHY, because I have to call them for every detail (special room requests with asthmatic) and I'm not guaranteed it's being sent! UGH! We won't have a car so the parking pass doesn't help us..we did get a card for the AAA refreshment room...but in their "advertising" it makes it seem like a Delta Crown room at the airport where you can go in any time and get a refreshing drink...but when my package came it had one card for a ONE TIME visit for a free soda! UGH! Not that I was going to use it 5x a day...probably only one time a day...but I'd like to use it the days we're at MK...so tops maybe 3x...so now if they take this special voucher do I need to bring my parking pass anyhow to prove I'm a AAA bookie?
Oh, this is all nutso. :)

lmhall2000-

I would just bring the voucher for the "lounge" at MK. I don't think they will care if you don't have your other membership stuff with you.

We won't have a car either, so we won't need a parking pass. We are supposed to get a separate card for discounts at DTD restaurants, tours, mini golf, etc. so I will carry that around. It will come in handy when we go to Fulton's. :)

there is NO MORE Viewing areas for AAA members....that was part of the old package wich no longer EXISTS!!! you get the diamond parking and access to the lounge only ONCE..that's all.
