Does anyone know how to make reservations for the Fort with AAA online and get a pet loop? They are showing campsites available for the dates we need in April (Disney reservations show that there is no avialability), but I have no idea how to reserve a pet loop. I have tried calling their local office, but I get a recording telling me that they will call back at their earliest convenience (no telling when that will be). Suggestions?

AAA online does not let you reserve pet loops , just the category of the loop.
I would make the reservation thru AAA and then when you arrive, let them know you need a pet loop,,,,,
Disney WILL NOT turn you away,,,that system was set up by Disney & AAA .

Okay, I will do that! I am so afraid that if it takes too long for AAA to call me back, all of the campsites for our dates will be gone (since Disney shows no availability).
Thanks for the info!

Speaking of pet loops - what is a good pet loop for a Preferred Site near the marina?

We liked the 300 loop which is a preferred pet loop. It is right by the dog park, the dog walk along the canal and a good distance between the marina and the campfire area.

Well, I just learned a painful lesson...just because AAA shows campsites on their website, it doesn't mean it is available. :( When searching for my dates, it came up with all three types of campsite. I just assumed that meant they were available for my dates. Now when I try to book it, I am getting a weird message about unsuccessful link and then it gives me a price in US dollars, but doesn't actually appear to reserve it. I am so disappointed! We are in the process of buying a Class A and I really wanted to be able to take it down for my birthday trip (April 4-8). Does anyone know if Dreams Unlimited Travel has any kind of inside connection to get reservations? Any other suggestions? I am soooo disappointed.

Pretty soon (might already be so) 300 will be the ONLY preferred pet loop anywhere near the marina.

But we love it there. Close to the action, nice dog walk along the canal, close to dog park, nicely shaded sites...

The road/site angles are tricky for big rigs/MHs though.

We have had good lucking calling or stopping by our local AAA office and making site reservations. (Never tried to do it online.)

Adding: if time is of the essence, you might want to just call Disney Reservations directly.

No, I think everybody has the same access to bookings. Just keep checking back, it seems a lot of folks are canceling so you may get lucky. Or call Dreams and let them keep checking for ya!

Well, I just got off the phone with Disney reservations and nothing is available. I'm not really surprised since I know this is very last minute. I was just hoping that if everything worked out okay with the RV that we are planning to buy, then we could go to Fort Wilderness for my birthday trip. The lady at MS told me to keep calling first thing every morning. I plan on doing that, but I'm going to call Rhonda too. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm crossing my fingers that something will come up.

I HIGHLY recommend going thru rhonda. She is great and DW loves her for doing what she spent hours trying to do. She will also keep checking for available discounts and when available will try and get those for you too. It costs you nothing to go thru her and she knows all the in and outs of working the WDW system at FW.

I just sent her an email (couldn't find a phone number on the website), so now I'm just praying that she will be able to find something.

Bad news....Rhonda says that the first two weeks of April have been sold out for quite some time. Doesn't look like we will be able to stay at the Fort after all. I am so disappointed. I guess I will still try to call every morning, but I'm not holding my breath. :(

Disney reservations at a AAA website? Can't find that at AAA.com. I've always called Disney and asked for a AAA discount. Would the AAA site maybe have clues as to the blocks of discounts allocated?

Could someone post a link to the AAA site they've used? I'd like to poke around....

And keep trying Holly, both Disney online and calling (systems now talk to each other but I'm told are only synced once a day, reservations may be available at one and not the other). You're allowed to cancel reservations with no charge up to 5 days before your arrival, and change them right up to your arrival, lots can happen between now and then.

And maybe you'll see my Mom there, she'd like to go use her free birthday day on the 9th of April.

Thanks,

Tim,
I went to www.aaa.com, and then clicked on the Travel tab at the top. Then I put in my dates and Lake Buena in the location box (there is only room for about 10 letters in the box). I went to the next screen and I had to click where it said Lake Buena Vista, FL. After that, I had to scroll down a little bit and type Fort Wilderness in the hotel name box. On the next page it showed a picture of a FW cabin and you had to click on a link to go to the next page. Then all of the different types of sites are listed, but this is where it gets deceiving...just because it shows the type of site, doesn't mean it's available. You have to go through the entire booking process, putting in your credit card number and naming all the people that are going with you before it tells you that nothing is available (well at least that is what I think it meant...the message was kind of weird). The other thing that is weird is that I also tried to book 5 nights in October, and at the end it came up with another weird message that sounded like I can't book through them unless I am booking 7 nights. Does anyone know if this is true?
And thanks for the info on the syncing of the website and phone reservation systems. I am going to keep on trying!

Thanks Holly,

A pretty tough system to navigate. But it does give some insight into the AAA rates. 20% sometimes, 10% others. Interesting that it lists both the AAA rate and the full rack rate, probably so agents can check both (like when AAA rate isn't available).

But that method of checking availability is awful! And that error message is confusing at best.

One more thing. Often online will show availability different for different length of stays. 1 week seems to be available more often. It can be worth playing with your dates. You can always drop days from a week reservation. The good news is that now that the systems talk to each other, you can modify an online reservation on the phone. (That used to be more or less impossible, had to recreate the reservation on the phone, risky to delete one and hope to snag it right back.) It's now easy to drop days, or check for AAA discounts.

It's no wonder travel agents keep busy, making a reservation on short notice can be a full time job.

(I'm somewhat amazed that Disney has kept resllers from reserving desireable times and selling them to the highest bidder, like is done with tickets. OK, it's probably illegal, but when did that stop folks from making a buck?)

By the way, I think the AAA website was acting up yesterday and that is why I was getting such weird messages. I am still not able to get the April dates that I want, but I was able to book my Food & Wine Festival trip in October. I called Disney reservations early this morning and they had one of my dates available for the April trip, so I grabbed it. I am going to try to get all of my dates bit by bit and then hopefully get them all linked together. Wish me luck!

Keep calling. I tried to make ressies for March 27-April 4 and they showed nothing available. My CM was wonderful and started with my end date and checked going backwards and was able to find me a full hook up and a premium hook up for March 29-April 3. I took the full hook up :cool1:
I've stayed in the cabins but haven't camped there in 28 years. I was intending on using my Dads travel trailer but DH wants to use our pop up, I guess I don't care especially since this will be our 3rd trip to the world this year. I'm such an addict :lmao:

Yes, don't give up, people cancel all the time. Call AAA and ask them to keep checking for you. Also, call the WDW reservation line daily. If you really want to go, you have a good chance of getting what you want, just be persistent.
