Hope i am posting this ? in the right place...

for those who have booked a disney vaca package before through AAA, was the cost savings significant or barely noticeable from what WDW quotes or other travel agents? I have a quote request into them so we shall see what they say.... I currently have a quote from WDW and a local travel agency... the agency gave me a very small discount...like 50 bucks...i am hoping AAA comes through better. We will be going regardless...but money saved is a good thing :) I figure if i save a few bucks i can rent a golf cart for a week without feeling guilty  (staying at FW)

thanks in advance...

I think depending on what season you are there that AAA is going to be 10 - 15% off the room portion of your vacation.

It's a percentage, so it depends on where you're staying and what time of year it is. For mods and deluxes, you're probably looking at a couple hundred dollars. Values would be less.

How many nights are you staying?

Each night will save you approximately $42. Make sure the quotes are exactly the same. Sometimes there are ticket differences, we found once that one quote had the child age under 10 and the other had the child over 10, once the child who was an infant was counted as an chile 3-9, sometimes one will include insurance (119 per adult) when the other one doesnt. Also your aaa quote could include some other things that the aaa rep just included in your total rather than explaining they were separate - membership fee if aren't already a member, booking fee, mailing fees. Not all aaa charge fees but some do.

We just booked with AAA. I joined just to get the discount ($75.00 for 3 members me, DW, DD-16).
Here is our package and what we are paying: 2 adults, 2 teens (DS13,DS14)
2 rooms at POP for 6 nights (we want our own beds!!!).
4- 4 day base tickest w/fun addon (water parks)
4 adults w/disney dining plan

Disney qouted price was $3237.22
AAA price 2894.00
Savings 343.22

We felt it was worth it. The only discount we are getting is 20% off rack rate. We will get a parking pass to park up front of the parks for AAA members. We get some other stuff too.....not a big deal.

Good Luck!!

Here's the general amount you'll save off the room portion of a package. I took this from the mousesavers site.

AAA and CAA Resort Hotel Discounts
American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

In general, the discounts run as follows:

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season and Summer Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas) at the Value and Moderate resorts.

Just as a point of comparison, we saved slightly over $300 last year for 8 nights at the Poly, and this year we're saving nearly $400 for 8 nights at the Poly in July (value season for deluxes) with hoppers and DDP for 5 (3 adults, 2 kids).

You know, i was thinking fw as in cabins but if you are staying camp sites-

campsites during value season are
$41 where the per night aaa savings would be 9.22
$46, savings of 10.35
$55, savings of 12.38

I don't know how many nights you are staying but as you can see at any of these campsites, a 5 night stay would only get you a savings of around 50.

While the savings with aaa can be significant, it is only 10-20% as stated above so the cheaper your lodging is the smaller your savings will be.

I don't recall right now and I don't have the numbers in front of me, but for the 2 rooms we have for Nov I believed we are saving about $350 or so. We are going during value season and are getting the 20% savings of the room rate (before taxes). 7 nights at POR.

So yes, you can get some very siginificant savings with AAA if you book early enough. One year we waited to long an there were no discounted room available.

In general when comparing everything exact, all travel agencies will have the same price that Disney quotes. Only exceptions are the VERY large agencies (other than AAA) and some others that will give small discounts, but those discounts come from the agencies commission and are generally to keep you from going someplace else. The VERY large agencies can swing it more often as they will do enough business to supoprt giving their own discounts to keep your business or from you spending your money with another agency.

Another thing to remember I believe when you get the Disney price on line they do not include the taxes in the price they quote you. I thought I remember reading that somewhere. With AAA you get the parking pass and the story hour in Magic Kingdom which is really nice me DD 7 loved it! They also give a couple of other extras.Have a great Trip!
