Does anyone know exactly how this works??? More specifically, like how 'close' you get to park? I'm wondering if this alleviates the need to ride the trams into the parks?

We're renting a car, so if the pass works the way I *think* it does, then I doubt I'll be riding much on the Disney busses since we can get there much quicker, and park so close.

TIA

I've only used the pass at MK, so my explanation is simply for that park.

When you get to the parking area you show them your pass and they'll lead you to where you have to go. You'll be parking all the way to the front, on the right hand side of the lot. It's also the handicapped parking area, so you'll be down passed the handicapped spots. You wont even be given a chance to ride a tram, you have to walk. You'll be walking under the overpass the trams take to get to the front of the parking area where you board the boat/monorails.

Personally, I didn't think it was such a great thing. I felt like the walk to our parking spot was very long and at the end of a long day in the parks I'd rather hop on a tram than walk that far. A lot of people love this AAA perk, so you can't go by my opinion alone. :)

ok, so it sounds like the MK is out, but what about the other 3 parks? Are the lots any closer than the MK?

Epcot is the best by far. It is just a shor walk to the entrance. You are parked over by the kennel. Animal Kingdom is a little stroll, but not near as far as Magic Kingdom. MGM if you go in one of the entrances just puts you closer to the trams. The other entrance puts you by where the buses pick people up to go to the hotels.

I loved it!

We did MGM, MK and AK. We used it each time. I loved it for MK. We got there early mornings and we one of the first to use the AAA lot. So we were very close to the handicapped. I didn't mind the walk at all--even coming back.

(we went in Sept) so I don't really remember the other two parks, but I'd use it again in a heartbeat.

You park in the "AAA Diamond Lot" which is usually the next lot furthest than the handicapped parking lot. There is no tram service.

It is worth it for Epcot. No tram service, but the walk is very short.

It is NOT worth it for MK or MGM. No tram service and a long walk. MGM is especially bad when leaving the park because you have to cross a lot of traffic.

I did not use it for AK (so I don't know what its like)

do U have to book a trip to get it ,, I read on disners about 5 months ago ,, A lady
who lived in Florida has one for all the time ...... but I can't find the thread

so does it come with just being a AAA member and you have to request one or
is it a special membership thats extra ???

I had to buy park tickets through AAA and ask for the Diamond Pass. I had to show my AAA membership card when I bought the tickets.

It will not save you any money for parking. In my opinion, it is only worth it for Epcot, and even there its not that much of an advantage.

I don't recall an expiration date on the pass, so the Florida lady story is entirely possible.

I won't go into where the parking lots are, everyone else has answered that one. We preferred the Epcot and AK spots to MGM and MK, however. One night I had to go back out to our van in the Epcot parking lot and it was so nice to not have to take a tram to/from it just to get the coats we'd forgotten earlier.

I just wanted to mention that the pass is good for a calendar year. Ours has a yellow (I think) 2006 at the top of it. There are black-out dates throughout the year when it isn't valid. I don't have my pass with me right now so I don't have those specific dates.

It's been five years since my last trip, but I remember always parking in the AAA lots, and I also remember taking a tram a couple of times to/from the parking lot, but I can't remember which lots? Maybe I just have a faulty memory.... :teeth:
