If you book a package through AAA and got your room discount so it would be AAA rate, and additional discount codes came out for your resort, can you apply those discounts to your AAA rate? Or is it one or the other. AAA or discount code? Also I'm assuming you would just tell your AAA TA to apply the discount if you can use it?

AAA applied the code to my existing package. It is my understanding that the price should be the same with the Disney code and no additional discount for AAA. My package rate was $400 less through AAA and then once they applied the discount, the package went down another $300.
Hope this helps :dance3:

Okay, I'm confused. :confused3 Are you saying you first got the AAA discount when you booked, then got an additional code discount? Or the code discount was greater than the AAA discount so you got the code discount only?

:tink:

Me too. I booked through AAA the whole package. It was $400 less for my two rooms with AAA then with Disney. When the Disney Visa Code came out I called my AAA agent and she told me the code lowered my cost $568.00 off the two rooms.

OK so let me get this straight. AAA applies only one code. If a code comes out and its greater then the AAA discount, they will take off the AAA discount and apply the code on right? Also I know you get a discount on rooms, but what about these package discounts? What are they?

I believe the package discounts are AAA only and only if booked through an AAA TA.

That's an awful lot of abbreviations! :D

So if you were to call Disney Travel direct or go through another TA, you couldn't get an AAA discount on the package.

Occasionally package discounts are made available by Disney Travel, but there don't seem to be many. The free dining from mid-August through end of September this year is one of the few.

The new codes that came out last week are for a package. I think you get a percentage off dining as well as your room. Codes are listed at mousesavers.com and on these boards too. Good luck I think ZBH and ZBG are the current package discounts

The AAA package is a room only discount and the dining and tickets are at regular prices. You can get the AAA room discount through any TA, but you can't make it a package without booking through AAA. The new codes that just came out take a percentage off the package.

Thats what we did. We always book our packages through AAA only.

I'm not sure which way it went, but my AAA travel agent applied to the code to our package and we saved $556! I need to pay the balance of our package and am still paying that to AAA though.

so if you are starting your trip the end of January then I should be looking for a Jan code? I seem to be unclear about this...

I got my AAA discount from original booking

Code comes out...I call AAA and hopefully the code will apply to my time and resort, and I get another discount?

Thanks

Watch these boards for a code for Jan, then call your AAA agent and have them apply the code. I know some people are lucky and their TAs automatically apply the code for them, but I had to call and ask. Good luck!
Oh - and yes, you get whichever discount is greater. :thumbsup2

Did any of you have to pay a fee for changing your reservations through AAA with this code?

When I booked my trip I got a paper in the mail I had to sign and send back. I had to agree to pay a $25 fee if I changed my current reservation. Also, if I cancelled my reservation I was out the fees charged by Disney, plus AAA charged me a cancellation fee.

Just wondering.

AAA isnt supposed to charge any fees if you cancel before 45 days. If its 45 days or less until your vacation, then they will charge you a fee. I have changed my vacation a lot of times and I havent gotten charged and thats what my AAA TA told me.

Really???

I pulled the copy of the papers that AAA sent me after I paid the $200 deposit just to double check.

Yep, I had to agree to pay a $25 fee if I made any changes to my reservation.
I also had to pay a fee in addition to the fee Disney charges. It goes up just like Disney's does.

I don't plan to make any changes unless a code like this comes up next year.

I originally wanted to go through DU, but couldn't since I wanted the dining plan not just a AAA room discount. DU could only give me AAA discount room and tickets.

Both my husband and myself had to sign the paperwork agreeing to the fees.
I thought it was standard.

See thats one thing my AAA TA didnt make me do. I didnt have to sign anything other then my credit card recepit. On the back of my paper it just says some basic stuff and as for the fees goes it just says make sure u understand the fees to changes and cancellations.

Same here. Our original pkg info had a notice about possible charges from AAA and/or Disney if you made changes, but we weren't charged for changes from either one. We were well outside of the 45 days though - may have been a different story if it had been closer. We had originally paid for the DP for our length of stay (about $1000) and gotten AAA discount on our package. Then free dining came up during our stay and was a better deal than the AAA discount. We added the free dining, thus loosing the AAA discount, and were credited back about $600 on our credit card (the difference between the two). Is that clear as mud???
