I called WDW reservations first to see if they had rooms with the AAA discount available during the time we needed them (in our case it is Thanksgiving week) The CM said they did (it was a reduction of about $50 per night (Boardwalk Inn) I asked if I needed my account number to make the reservations and he said no. I booked the room and then registered on the AAA website. I also found out that AAA sells the tickets at a discount (it saves about $20 per ticket. I ordered my 4 4day park hopper passes and received them in about 3 days.
My reservations are for this Thanksgiving. I agree that it is all up to the CM you get in reservations. I tried to get an AP rate but had no luck. I talked to two different CM's and got different stories each time.
The sooner you make the ressies the better. I called 8 months before our trip and they had already run out of AAA rooms. I had no idea that they only have a certain amount of rooms available for AAA discount! I would have called even sooner. Good Luck!!
I made my ressies for February just a couple of weeks ago. I asked for the AAA rate. She didn't ask for a membership number. However, I learned last year to book through WDW not AAA. I had booked through AAA and found a discount code that was going to make my stay cheaper than the AAA one. They couldn't apply it and I had to rebook through WDW and waited a couple of months to be refunded my deposit from AAA. Just book through WDW to begin with, it's just easier.
I made my ressies for early January just a few weeks ago and had no problem getting AAA rate. I also needed my AAA number. I wonder if they ask and if you have it, fine, if not, that's fine, too. I had it handy, so I gave it to her.
Like for deep discount airline seats, availability of AAA and annual pass room rates comes and goes, sometimes several times a day. Other guests may cancel, or WDW may add more rooms to these limited allotments fromtime to time.
Supposedly it is all automated, when the reservation agent looks it up on his computer station, the desired rate either shows "yes" or "no". Sometimes you may get the desired rate if you book only half of your stay, because the rate was not available for just one of the days. (Then try again the next day for the rest of your stay.)
We called CRO a few weeks ago to inquire about rooms w/AAA discount. The price they gave us was actually MORE than the non-AAA price listed on the official Disney site, and the CM was very firm that the price she was giving included the discount. And we specified the same resort, same room type as we did online.
We ended up going with DU, which gave us a very good price with AAA.
OK, I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED HERE. I CALLED AAA YESTERDAY AND GOT A RATE FOR $55.00 PLUS 12% TAX (TOTAL $61.60) PER NIGHT FOR ALL STAR MOVIES FOR THE FIRST WEEK IN FEB.
IS THIS THE BEST RATE OR COULD I DO BETTER CALLING CRO?
Yes, keep that rate!! That was what I expected to pay when I called to reserve ASMo for Nov back in March and when I called WDW to make the ressies they said that there were "no more rooms available with AAA discount", explaining that there are only a certain amount of rooms that they can discount. It is bothering me immensely, as that is the only part of our trip that I can't seem to get a break on and $86 a night just seems like alot considering that it is "value" season and I've been told that the rooms are okay, but small and simple.........
