AAA Diamond Parking

When you buy a car do you pay sticker no questions asked? Is it unethical to say you will not buy it unless they knock down the price, throw in floor mats, lower the interest rate, or some other condition?
You're buying the car or not. You're not saying, "Well, give me this extra feature that normally you only give to people who actually buy cars and maybe I will buy a car from you and of course you must trust me not to change my mind after you hand me the feature or return the car or otherwise renege on my end of the arrangement".

The OP even said they were thinking about joining anyhow and asking if they could throw it in, I don't know about you but every time I rent a car I ask what they can do for me. 9 times out of 10 I get a better car for the same rate.
You already have an agreement to rent the car. Simply trying to negotiate a 'better' car for the same money isn't in any way close to what the OP wants to do.

Thanks Bill and Jen for posting some common business sense, and understanding the original and plain meaning of my posts. Your analysis of my posts is spot on.

And Goofy, you're wrong. You and others (Kay) may not have used the word "evil", but you've implied as much and at the very least have labeled my potential approach illegal and/or morally questionable, e.g., calling it a threat, and even saying I'm bribing AAA!

It's threads like these that make disboards not all that great at times. I'm all for the free-flow of opinions and info (why else would I be on here?), but when posts become borderline defamatory (e.g., "you're bribing AAA"), I think its time to tone it down.

Go back to my original post, read it plainly and completely, and I think you'll see how ridiculous this has become.

I personally don't see anything wrong with politely asking. Last summer they gave me 2 parking passes at once. Not exactly policy but there it was. (and btw, it was the AAA person who offered it first). Also, the passes are not scanned into your account like other purchases are.

The one thing I have noticed is that the AAA offices around here have been running out of the passes completely. When I needed one for an upcoming trip I had to call 3 local offices before finding one that had them in-stock. Guess the summer Disney rush is on!

I'm just wondering what could possibly reach the level of being (even borderline) defamatory when the subject of the discussion uses a pseudonym (please tell me Brer Brett isn't this guy's real name! ;) ) and the statements characterize hypothetical behavior...

When I joined AAA they offered me an additional 6 months for free ($50 value) so cant see why some office wont thorw that in to close the deal...my free 6 month certainly sealed the deal...

How do you know that's not his real name? ;) :rolleyes1

Neither - just plain questionable.

and even saying I'm bribing AAA!
I'm not sure what you think it is: "IF you give me this (perk that you normally only give to persons who've first paid $xx.xx for a membership and then either $xxx.xx for theme park tickets or upwards of $X,XXX.xx for complete vacation packages), then maybe I'll consider paying that $xx.xx membership fee.".

Could it be possible too many members are getting them just by asking, or that they're being distributed in a way other than proscribed by AAA?

Or that people asking for them don't realize they ARE limited in number and believe themselves entitled?

I think there's a very big difference between a company offering an incentive and someone attempting to create their own.

I can read very well thank you. And no, I'm not 'wrong'...I don't imply, I come right out and say what I'm thinking. There is seldom any doubt as to where I stand..not much room for 'interpretation' in my posts.
You asked a question...you got the info. Many here, myself included, gave you the current info.....we told you what proceedures are in place currently. You didn't like those answers. Yes, some here may have 'intimated' that you were being 'morally questionable'....but that wasn't me.
Many come here, ask their question about doing something dubious. And they get on their high horse and tell us how awful we are and how unwelcoming to posters we can be. But, the truth was posted, as usual, and now it's turned to 'you didn't read my post, you need to reread it, you're being mean and nasty'. I read it, I got it, I answered it. As did others. You may not have liked the answers (obviously), but it is what it is.
As I told you before....go and do what you want to do. But at least now you have the info you came looking for. Do with that what you will. But don't come here, throwing around insults because you didn't like the answers you got.

No, I live in the land where you have to buy at least one 3 day ticket.

I usually buy one for the parking pass (and upgrade it to AP), then order the rest of what I need from UT.

We've used the Diamond passes for most of our trips. If you have a large stroller, a child asleep in a stroller or a lot of stuff in your stroller - it can be a huge luxury to not have to fold the stroller to board the tram to get to your car. You can usually park significantly closer (next to handicap) at HS, Epcot and AK. I am not sure about MK - we always stay on site and don't drive there, but do drive to all others. We pretty much always arrive at rope drop, go back to the resort for a nap, then return for dinner/evening. We usually travel in the off-season (April, May, Oct, early-Dec), and have never found the Diamond parking to be full.

The passes are good for a year - if you have any friends who have had them, you might see if you could borrow one. I have also seen them for sale on e-bay. (FYI - While I'm not sure that this is legit, there is nothing personalized about them that would make them not be able to be sold. We've loaned ours to friends before.)

Hope this helps!

Except the "non-transferable, not for sale" text, maybe :)

The OP is concerned about walking for his party. Haven't read all the posts, but based on experience I'd say use of a AAA pass, at most of the parks, involves much more walking than going down an aisle to the tram. If walking
is a concern, skip the AAA pass:banana:

I thought the same thing! If saving 2 minutes of walking in a parking lot is so important, you probably aren't heading to the right vacation destination.:rotfl: Miles of walking to be done at Disney. What's another few hundred feet?!:lmao:

it is definitely not legit in any way, shape or form. The pass is meant only for the person who received it directly from their AAA representative. Of course there will be people scalping them on eBay or lending them to Aunt Mabel and Uncle Jessie, but it is not approved by AAA. Ultimately, when someone cheats and gets one "under the table" it takes a parking space away from other
members who acquired their passes by legitimate means.
