I just received my AAA MYW package booklet for 2005. First, I do not see any MAJOR improvements in benefits for AAA members. When you look at the prices for the packages, please remember 2 things: First, the prices DO NOT reflect AAA member discounts. On a seperate page they list the precentage discounts based upon the time you go. During peak season it seems to go as high as 15% for Deluxe. Second, many of the package prices listed only include BASE TICKETS ONLY (no park hopper add on). I assume it is going to cost more P/P to get hopping privliges. It looks like I will get a better deal keeping my old package with the ultimate hopper.

Laz,

Thanks for the info. I did get lost however with the discount. From what you read, are there or aren't there AAA discounts for the MYW packages. By the way, how did you get this guide?

What's the discount rate for value and moderate resorts during regular season?

My Fort Wayne-Chicago AAA agent sent it to me via snail-mail. I have already book a 2005 package under the old packages, and I am getting a choice of keeping my old package with ultimate hopper, or converting to a MYW package.

In my book, the AAA discounts are listed on page 37 While the package prices for non AAA members is listed on page 44. I also noticed that the discounts are for the room only portion of the package. Wonder why?

Sample AAA discounts:

Value and moderate resorts--Value season 20%, Regular 15, peak 15.

Deluxe, DVC, FW Cabins.-- Value season 15%, Regular 10, peak 10.

Remember, these %s are for room only portion.

A non AAA member package at a Moderate for 5 nights BASE TICKET ONLY:

Value, $583, Regular $622, Peak, $ 681,

With Dining:

Value 758, regular 797, Peak 856.

I can't tell if there is a discount on the package or not from what was posted. I know in the past you could get anywhere from 10-20% of per nite on a room only rate depending on season.

Laz,

So what you are saying is that you can get the normal AAA discount on the room portion, pay the normal amount for the tickets and dinning and still get the package.

If this works, that would be so nice.

I'd love to know what the new package quote is for POR for 4 adults (I say adults b/c of ticketing purposes, they are 12 and 13) and 1 junior during regular season without AAA discount. Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Laz,

On last thing. Does it say that you have to go directly through AAA for this or can you get the AAA rate through Disney reservations like in the past.

I edited my earlier post. Everyone please read update. I got this booklet snail mail two days ago.

Moderate; 4 Adults, 1 Junior, regular season, no dining, no discount:

Each adult 4 nights: $537; 5 nights $622, 6 nights $708

Junior 4 nights: $207; 5 nights $210, 6 nights $213

Can I go?

It is confusing to me. Here is what the book says:

"With AAA Disney Magic Moments Savings, AAA/CAA members can save 10%, 15%, 20%, or 35% on the nondiscounted rate of the room portion of these vacation packages"

It seems to me they are trying to avoid any reference to a discounted park ticket.

They must be booked through AAA.

Laz,

Of course it has to be through AAA, and AAA is closed on the day that the new packages comes out. Thanks for the help.

By the way, I did just get the new Home and Away AAA magazine and noticed that January just happens to be Disney Month at AAA.

Sure you can come. One more spot left in the van. lol

Thanks for the help!!! You are awesome. i assume this is without park hopping.

I will stick with my 7 nights and 5 day hopper, I believe.

Thanks again.

Isn't it amazing that these things coincide so nicely

Yes, all packages are quoted with Base Ticket only. I can not see going to WDW for more than one day without hopping options.

Laz,

With all this information about AAA discounts on the room portion of the package and the fact the it is Disney Month at AAA, I have a good feeling that these new MYW packages are going to work great with my May 27-June 6th trip. Plus I have Monday and Tuesday off this week so I can stop by my local AAA and see what they have to say.

Thanks for verifying.

PolyAddict,

I agree. What happens if you get in the park and it is more crowded then you like. Without the hopper option, you either stay and bare it or leave and no parks for the day.

January has always been my AAA Disney month. Sounds like you will get at least the AAA discount on your rooms if you buy a package. Better than paying rack rate. I'll have to stop by my AAA office tomorrow and pick up a new brochure. Forgot that the Home & Away mag came yesterday with Walt on the cover. Will have to read it.

I read my Home and Away and there were not any great revelations about Disney-and no extra discounts, darn.

I just checked our local AAA site and no information yet online about MYW.

Does your AAA book list a price for the Deluxe resorts-specifically AKL 2 ad, 3 children ages 12, 10 and 10 for May 30-June 4????

Totally off topic--it is snowing like the dickens here-first snow of the year and it is thundering and lightning along with the snow--weird!
