AA from Chicago-baggage question

How picky is AA with carryons. We have a fancier duffel that is exactly the sizes required empty. I'm afraid when we pack it, being a softside, it might measure a little bigger. Any comments or suggestions?

Well while they might let you on, it might not fit in the overhead. I have seen lots of luggage that is designed to fit in the overhead not fit when it was actually packed full.

Also, remember that overhead space is NOT guranteed. If the plane is full and you can't get your luggage in the overhead it will be gate checked.
