AA delivering bags... for a price

This is something I might be willing to pay for depending on the trip... I so love the Magical Express for that! We went on vacation 3 weeks ago, and I was joking to my DH, we don't have to pick-up our suitcases, Magical Express will deliver them to our hotel, right?

Sometimes it's not just about saving time, but also the hassle. Or maybe renting that cool sports car which doesn't have room for your suitcases? Or wanting to take some form of public transportation to your hotel?

I'm going to Las Vegas in a few months... and considering staying at one of the few hotels that offers luggage transport to your home airport.

Magical Express has me spoiled!

If I'm dealing with my kids and I don't want to rent a car this would be tempting.

But then don't you have to deal with getting the stuff BACK to the airport? OK. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate. lol

No, Sam, you are not a cheapskate. I think you are smart and since at MCO, at least, the wait is usually not that long for your bags to appear. You can also assess any damage right there and make a claim for lost bags (God forbid) if that happens.
The idea mentioned by another poster about a sports car has some validity, but, then again, few car rental agencies have sports cars without a decent size trunk (unless you count the camaro or mustang as a sports car).

Many (most?:)) posters on DIS aren't likely to use the service. DIS members will change a car rental reservation to save $5.

Think of the people who use room service, a mini-bar or who use the hotel laundry service. People who book concierge level hotel accommodations. People who book first class airfare for domestic flights.

The service might make sense to "regular" people under some circumstances. You want to take transportation which won't accommodate your luggage. A convertible with almost no trunk. Public transportation. A friend will pick you up at the airport, or sharing a rental car, without enough room for your luggage.

You don't want to go straight to your hotel. You're going to a business meeting or convention.

Assume you want to go from the airport directly to a hard ticketed night event. Let your luggage go directly to your Universal area hotel. You're not only saving the 20 minutes (more during after noon thunderstorms) waiting for luggage but also the time it takes to go to your hotel first.

I suspect the biggest customers may be people who purchase in bulk and get discounts. A convention which offers this service to attendees. Conventions already offer RAC. Th cost for 3-5 bags is $50. That's $10 /bag. Assume the hotel sponsors the service and arranges a discount. Would you pay $5-$10 /bag if the hotel you're staying at negotiates that kind of rate? DME is a popular service. Guests at other hotels can get shared shuttle ride service, incoming luggage deliver and under some circumstances RAC. Time will tell how many customers are willing to pay for that kind of service.

I would definitely consider the service if I wanted to start my vacation at a location other then my hotel.

$60 for 8 bags. $7.50 /bag. You can't fit 8 bags in the trunk of a rental car. Makes sense for some people. I'm not going to post a poll--At what price would you consider it? $7.50 /bag for 8 bags. Assume your hotel, tour group or TA is able to offer you a deal for $5-$10 per bag, even if you're only checking 1 or 2 bags.

A person (family/group) paying to check 8 bags might not have an issue paying $60 to have the bags sent to their hotel.
