Is the bed bug problem under control now?

I'm kinda worried now. Thanks people who starting talking about this to me. grr What a way to ruin my excitement.

I have finally made it back here! Ugh, so far behind on the DIS.

1) Super cute park bag! I hope it works out!

2) Congrats on the 2nd interview!!! Keep us posted. :goodvibes

3) :yay: DIS Meet! The comments about the Brazilian tour group made me laugh out loud! Oh too funny!

4) SO excited to meet you in July here in NYC!

Hi!

I recently made a disney order for a D23 women polo shirt size large. As I had to return since it was too big, I had problems. I won't go into details. The point is, I was sent a replacement and told to give the extra one to a charity of my choice.

I am looking for a deserving child and the childs mother, whom you think would deserve it. Please share the back story.

Since I live in the Montreal area, I would love to be able to spread the joy of Disney with someone in the area.

But anyone in Canada would be great.

Thank you for helping me bring a smile to someone's face. And maybe ease the pain!

You are SO sweet! I cannot think of a Canadian family...but if I run across something, I'll let you know! And how awesome of Disney to tell you to donate it. :thumbsup2

I hate this feeling. I feel like I'm forgetting to do something.

I hate that too-and it happens all too often!!!

So what are your fave places to go and eat in NYC? I know I won't have time to do it all. But I'd like to know your opinion. Of course the Disney store is on my list. I found an address on Broadway..is that the old address?

We are cheap/simple eaters, so none of these places are high profile/too exciting:

1) A great little tourist spot, but still fun for the locals is Ellen's Star Dust Diner. It's on Times Square and the waiters and waitresses are aspiring Broadway stars (or have been on Broadway and are between jobs). They sing and preform for you! It's a LOT of fun and the food isn't too shabby. They won't make a spectacle of you, unless you encourage them to.

2) Big Nick's. It's on the Upper West Side, a total hole in the wall, but AWESOME burgers and pizza! We go almost weekly. It's pretty dern cheap too.

3) Shake Shake. Another burger place - but soooooo good. It's very well known and there are locations all over Manhattan. There is very little seating inside - sometimes there isn't even an inside, depending on the location - sometimes it's just a booth you order at. The line can be long, but it's worth it! Burger, fries, shakes. YUM.

4) Amy's Bread. A tiny little bread shop that sells sandwiches and pastries. A bit on the high side for what it is, but tasty. I think they have a few locations. The one I have been to is in Hell's Kitchen (9th Avenue, around 49th Street or so). No seating inside, just a counter you order at! Eat on the street or in a nearby park! :)

5) I've never been here, but hear great reviews: Hill Country Chicken. (they have a website)

6) Girmaldi's. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and over to this awesome pizza place. It's one (or The One) original brick oven pizza places in NYC. There is often a line out the door, so you have to wait for a table, but again-worth it! Very yummy stuff. You will eat packed into the restaurant like a sardine, but it's just part of the ambiance.

7) And if you make it out to my neighborhood, Astoria, Queens and like sushi: Watawa! DELISH sushi! Love this place.

No, it's awful. But, don't worry! Just check your bed before you settle in. If you see them (or their poop, which you are more likely to see), do NOT unpack, go directly and tell the management. They HAVE to take action. It's generally taken very seriously and they will move to you a new room. Do you know what you are looking for in the seams of the bed and all that? Bedbugger.com is a good website. There is also a bed bug registry somewhere online for NYC, you can look up an address and see if they have had the problem before.

And it DOES happen in Disney too! Always check your bed no matter where you are staying!!!!! Bed bugs don't care about clean or dirty, or who you are. If you are living and breathing, they will move it to feed on you!!

Thanks Brooke. Your suggestions will be taken into condideration. And I can't wait to give you a hug in person! ;)

Bed bugs...blech!...a friend of mine who lives in NYC got bed bugs in her apt and hearing the horror stories about what they had to go through to get rid of them has me checking EVERY SINGLE hotel room I stay at...even Disney!! Wouldn't want to bring those little buggers home to my house--yikes!

Congrats!

Congratulations! Now you can relax and enjoy summer!

Thanks girls!

I am so happy. Private schools are sure to be more my thing than public school. Well I'm guessing. I've been told quite a few times that I'd fit in.

I'm going on thursday afternoon to get a welcome package and sign a promise of hirement. Or whatever it's called.

I might also start looking into an appartment. But my goal is to move out before the snow starts falling. But I'm in no hurry. I don't want to rush it, you know.

And I have only 4 days left to work. But I have to go back on the 30th in the morning for the general assembly. And then on the 30th at noon, I am out for the summer. Woohoo!

To my NYC ladies, my friends and I want to hit "Ellen's Star Dust diner". Would you be interested in meeting us there?

Congrats!!! I'm so happy for you!!! What are your NYC dates again? I've never been to Ellen's and have always wanted to go! Oh I just saw your ticker. It will probably interfere with my daughter's bday party. But let me know for sure what date you plan on hitting it up and I'll look into it!

We are going to NYC July 9 to 12.

I'm thinking maybe Ellen's would be on July 9 ;)

Congratulations on the new job! Now you will definitely be able to relax and enjoy yourself on your upcoming vacations! :goodvibes

Thanks. I've been working on the material I'll be teaching ;) Yep, already started since I wanna know it really well.

Look at my tickers!!! hehe

I'm so excited!

My NYC suitcase is done! Yep, all packed!

And my WDW is almost done. Just gotta put a few more things in hehe

Woot woot!

My dad's already planning next year's trip. True, he's not coming with us this year. He wants to do Concierge at the Contemporary. Any thoughts on concierge? Ever done it?

We did concierge at the Contemporary - I loved it! There was a nice selection of breakfast items (pastries, bagels, cereal, fruit) - so we did not need to do any breakfast ADRs.......the view from the lounge is awesome. That is where we watched the fireworks on July 4th last year. We had a Bay Lake view - a little less expensive than the MK view and lot more scenic. We would go to the lounge to see MK. The evening offerings were heavy appetizers. Not quite enough for a meal although we did not go anywhere else for dinner a few nights because of the rain. If you have specific questions let me know!
