thank you all so much for all your compliments on my niece! i agree - she is adorable....poop and all! just so you know, brett's hearing got postponed until next week because the judge was out of town. but jordan has been really good lately about letting him see her. so hopefully everything will work out soon enough!

also, i want to thank all of you for your well wishes for the trip and welcome homes the past couple of days. you guys are the best!!!!

Tusker House looks so yummy...and like so much fun! Well, except for the whole Goofy incident!

Okay, I know I'm REALLY late joining this thread .... but better late than never, huh? I just want to ask you where did you find the condo to stay in? You really cannot beat $109/night for that place. Does someone just own the condo or is it part of a resort?

welcome to my TR!!!! i will PM you the link to the page where i found the condo. the guy owns several and he's VERY nice and his rates are great. i'd highly recommend him! he owns several privately so it's not part of a resort, but does share a pool, playground, etc. with other condos on the property.

I don't know how I missed a new update...and it's so funny!

I can see why you are friends with Anna, Chris and Luke. They know how to have a good time. Thier pics are priceless.

memom, i will have to say that that's probably the only time we were actually awake before 6:00 a.m. at the same time! i got up around 5:00 that friday to get ready to leave and your post was at 5:40-something.

Glad you had fun... my first trip to NYC I was six months pregnant, during a spring heatwave... I know that wall you hit quite well! It is way more exhausting than Disney IMO!

so after our awesome breakfast we decided to check out the wait for the safari as it was very close to the tusker house. luke and chris found some cool posts along the way....

the wait was too long so we got fastpasses and then headed for this.....

my favorite trail at AK!

anna and i ended up taking pictures of each other taking a picture when we got up to the first animal area.....we are so silly!

next was the okapis.....

luke got to see some okapi and giraffe skulls...

ray took some video of these, too, of course!



you can sort of hear in the video that luke was commenting on how they look like zebras. he's four - he doesn't know that they're related to the giraffe and not the zebra. there was a lady there that was trying to correct him and luke said, "no, they're a zebra." and she started arguing with him. there's a difference between teaching your child or maybe your friend's child or your grandchild about how they're related to the giraffe and not the zebra but arguing with a total stranger's child is kinda just odd to me. chris said something like, "maybe they're a mix of zebra and giraffe," just to shut her up.

we split up at some point during this trail but i'm not sure when. so i'm just going to post our pictures together because it makes more sense that way.

ray and i got behind this sweet couple and i said that would be us wheelin around disney world in 50 years!

the hippos were being very elusive that day. we didn't see a single one. they were too far away to see underwater too.

next were my favorite: THE GORILLAS!!!!! i could spend an entire day watching them. one day if i win the lottery i'm going to go to disney world for a month-long trip and do a multiple deluxe resort stay and that way i'll have enough time to dedicate a whole day to watching the gorillas!

he looks like he's pondering something really hard!

then he walked up several feet and sat there in this position for a few minutes.....

then he got up and walked back to where he was....

when we looked back at where he was sitting he had left a big pile of gorilla poop! don't worry - i didn't take a picture!

he apparently was hungry again because he immediately started eating.....

then he decided to take another nap.....

what a life!!!

here's part two of our gorilla videos. you can hear me on the phone with anna in one part telling her to look for the gorilla behind the glass because he was really cool and that ray filmed him taking a crap!

anna saw this guy and said he was so funny! she said the guide said they do this to show that it's THEIR bowl!

this one was laying over near the rock wall near the end of the trail. he didn't seem to be much into posing for pictures that day! he's also near the end of that second video of the gorillas.

next up.....time to conquer the mountain!
