~A XMAS STORY~decorations, crowds, pixies..AND A BLOODY NOSE~ACTUAL UPDATE 11/9 p190

I was looking at food pics on the catergorized thread and came across one of yours...how was this???
11.jpg

I will give my answer. I had a bite from that very bowl.
IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! Definitely order it, it was awesome. I think I ate more of Dawn's meal there than I did my own :rotfl:

Awww, I wish we lived closer and I would so meet you guys one day to skate!!!!!! Especially if they played any 80's music!!!:rotfl2:

Well if I drive down then you can come to the other side of Atlanta to meet us to skate!! Would be lots of FUN! :upsidedow

I just looked at your skating pics and you guys have me cracking up! :rotfl: Especially the one when are taking a brake the other girl looks so beat! I'm glad you had a good time! Two falls isn't to shabby either.:thumbsup2

Your skating night looked so fun! We had a rink like that built in the 70s to replace one from the 30s - they tore it down last Summer and built a strip mall of office space that No one has rented yet. There is nothing for kids to do here - sad.

As for your pics - that guy with the "saggy drawers" posing behind Angie on the floor is too funny!:lmao: I'm glad you had a great time!

OOPS - didn't see that someone else already posted about "that guy"

i used to love roller skate parties, you were cool if you had one, i used to be good, but i bet i would fall on my butt if i went now.

Finally, caught up AGAIN:goodvibes DS(2) is loving this TR as much as I am. We are in a Cars phase right now and when he saw the pics of "QueenLight", as he calls him, and Mater, his face lit up like Christmas morning. I cannot wait for him to meet his heroes. He was also loving the Monster's Inc characters in the parade. THANK YOU for so many wonderful pictures!

I was loving your report on Sci-Fi Drive In. I have been going back and forth over ADR's for Sci-Fi or 50's Prime Time. Both look so good and I cannot decide which one to go with. If you had to choose between the two, which would you recommend?

I cannot believe I am still over a year and a half out from our trip and I am already this excited and obsessive over our plans. By the time it gets here, I will be impossible to live with(Ok, DH already thinks I am :lmao: )

Update on this comment. I had even thought of starting a update on the TR but the fan on my laptop died. So it is not working right now :guilty: We'll see how long it takes to get fixed and how much $$$$. B/c since we have the desktop it won't be a huge rush to get it done. But no more updates at least til it's running b/c all of my pictures are on there :rolleyes1

I would like to see the one in Buford. B/c honestly from those pictures that was a pretty decent rink. And it's bulit EXACTLY like the ones here. The nashville rinks (Brentwood, Rivergate and Smyrna) are all owned by the same man. And supposedly he is the 'king' of roller skating rinks

no worries! if you want i can upload the pictures if it looks like it's gonna be forever before you can do it. just let me know! ;)

i have never been to the one in buford but i know it's newer. that's so funny about the "king" of skating rinks!

I was looking at food pics on the catergorized thread and came across one of yours...how was this??? Is it an entree or app and what is the exact name? And the cappucinos there....were they good? I want to go here in August (I've been craving escargot since our honeymoon) so that's the pic I'm in search of....back at it. LMK girlie! :thumbsup2

11.jpg

erica already answered this but it was REALLY good! it was nice and creamy and rich. and it had a good flavor to it - more than just macaroni and cheese! i carried half of it back to the room with me and it was a great snack after MNSSHP that night! i just looked at the allearsnet.com menu and i'm pretty sure this is gratin de macaroni off the lunch menu, but they have it at dinner, too.

What fun!!!! We used to go skating ALL THE TIME growing up, I think I had a roller rink b-day party once. You guys did awesome. Love the how she kept saying "you might want to move out of my way" as she clung to the wall:lmao: You guys look like you have so much fun together. Thanks for sharing!!!
Lesley

i know i had a party when i was 9 and again when i was 12 at the skating rink. such fun!

I would have been laughing at that, if I had been there.
Honestly, I laughed at it right here at home. :rotfl:

It's only 6 a.m., but the picture of the pasta does look pretty good.
Might have to have some of that for supper. I'll probably have it on my mind today now that I've seen it.

it was really funny! erin cracks me up. she has a really dry sense of humor and i just "get" her. hope you had a good cheesy macaroni dinner that night!

Dawn - you guys look like you had a lot fun. Me and DH used to go roller skating with friends before we got married for awhile, we loved it. My DS7 went to a roller skating party awhile ago and he wants to go back with us :scared1: .

we did! you should take him - it's like riding a bike. you don't forget how to do it! you just have to get a feel for it again and it'll all come back to you.

This guy is hilarious :rotfl: I'm not sure what he was trying to do - dance? Cracks me up.

It looks like you had so much fun. I would love to go roller skating again, haven't in years! I think that they should turn one of the empty clubs on Pleasure Island into a roller rink.

he was REALLY good on the skates. he would go backwards and sideways and twirl and everything. so i'm sure he was doing some sort of snazzy move there. anna said when she took it he said, "i wanna be in the picture" as he went by. oh, that's such a good idea about turning a club at PI into a skating rink!!!! i'd TOTALLY go! we should write the powers that be and since it was your idea it should be called KELLY'S RINK OF DISNEY FUN! :rotfl:

Hi Dawn - trying to catch up now that I'm back.........

Great pix from the DHS parade. I have yet to see that one; Lauren doesn't like to take the time to stop for parades. I'm thinking when we're back in Dec. though, it will have to be on our must-do list - it's looks so colorful and interactive; I'm sure Amanda would get a kick out of it!

And we were lucky - the American Idol Experience had opened the day before we arrived. Lauren and I caught one of the shows - it's incredibly cool!:thumbsup2 Hopefully I"ll get my TR started soon and you can read about it and see my pix over there.

hi, cammie! thanks! i bet amanda would love it too. there's so much going on and so much to look at. the CMs are awesome, too. they come right up to the kids and try to get them involved. cool that you got to see AI at DHS. i can't wait to read about it!

Awww, I wish we lived closer and I would so meet you guys one day to skate!!!!!! Especially if they played any 80's music!!!:rotfl2:

that would be so fun! they played a little bit of '80's music but i was hoping for more. next time we go i will for sure let you know.

Well if I drive down then you can come to the other side of Atlanta to meet us to skate!! Would be lots of FUN! :upsidedow

we should totally do this some time! heather - i will let you know if we get together to do it and we can all go!!!

I just looked at your skating pics and you guys have me cracking up! :rotfl: Especially the one when are taking a brake the other girl looks so beat! I'm glad you had a good time! Two falls isn't to shabby either.:thumbsup2

thanks! yeah, it was loads of fun. two falls isn't bad but one of them was kinda hard and now my back and arm are hurting. i'm getting old!

Your skating night looked so fun! We had a rink like that built in the 70s to replace one from the 30s - they tore it down last Summer and built a strip mall of office space that No one has rented yet. There is nothing for kids to do here - sad.

OOPS - didn't see that someone else already posted about "that guy"

that's what happened in my home town in tennessee. we had a skating rink and it caught on fire and they never did repair it or build another one, so we had to drive 30 minutes to the nearest one. as far as that guy goes, see what i said above to kelly (philadisney). he was really good on those skates but in that picture he's so cheesy!

i used to love roller skate parties, you were cool if you had one, i used to be good, but i bet i would fall on my butt if i went now.

i think i had one when i was 9 and then again when i was 12. so fun! i fell on my butt but that's okay!

Finally, caught up AGAIN:goodvibes DS(2) is loving this TR as much as I am. so glad you and your DS are reading together - that's so cute! i've been to both those restaurants and they're both good. for younger kids honestly i'd go to sci-fi. it's just a neat experience. now do keep in mind they play those sci-fi clips, but i don't think they're scary. luke was fine with them and he doesn't like scary things. the draw of '50's is the personality of the staff and the decor and i don't think a younger kid would appreciate those things. plus i've heard of people getting servers who aren't into the "act" and it's a let-down. we had a hilarious server there but i think i enjoy sci-fi more. just stick to the basic food and you'll be good!

i hear ya on the planning - we are going back in december 2010 and i already have a list of restaurants i wanna try next time. :rotfl:

so i figured i could do a short update tonight in between typing. :thumbsup2

when i last left you we had just enjoyed an awesome block party at DHS. the parade was over around 3:40 and we wanted to catch the 4:10 lights, motors, action show, so we headed straight over that way. i don't have a lot of interest in this show but i know that ray loves it and i knew that luke and chris would really love it. like i said before, luke is really into cars and speed right now, so this was right up his alley.

chris and ray stopped at herbie's drive through to get some snacks for all of us for the show and me, anna and luke went to get seats.

on the way to the seating area....

01-9.jpg

luke is wearing chris's sunglasses in that picture. he really tickles me with sunglasses. i've never seen a kid who wears them as much as he does. :cool2:

walking into the arena, this is what you see....

02-8.jpg

we got decents seats about halfway up on the righthand side.

03-9.jpg

our view....

04-9.jpg

as we're sitting there i had my jacket laid out next to me to save ray a seat. well, this man comes and sits almost right on top of it. i said to him (nicely), "i'm sorry, i'm saving this seat for my husband." he proceeds to snap at me, "do you have two husbands???" to which i reply, "actually, i do." :rotfl2: anyway, i scooted over towards him (where my jacket was), took my jacket and put it on the other side of me in order to save ray a seat. he wasn't very happy with me. did i care? nope. anna heard the exchange and offered to trade places with me but i wouldn't dream of it. just my presence was bothering him and i wasn't about to move. :rolleyes1

the arena on our side was almost full and they started directing people to the other side. i was like GREAT - now the boys will never find us! so i started to call ray to tell him. you can see my friend next to me. in the meantime luke and pluto were having a great time together! :upsidedow

05-9.jpg

ray said they didn't know what to do because they had to go to the other side. so i walked down to a CM at the bottom of our section and told him what was going on. he told me to tell ray to go to the very top of the bleachers and walk across the back. i met him and chris towards the top so they could find where we were sitting in the crowd. so if this ever happens to you, you'll know what to do!

while i was gone luke made a friend. :goodvibes

06-9.jpg

the boys returned with churros and ray had gotten me a frozen banana slushie - my favorite! i forgot to take a picture though.

07-9.jpg

finally the show started! i won't post all my pics since they look like any other pictures from this show, but i will post a few.

08-9.jpg

luke was REALLY excited, screaming at the hero car to go faster!

09-9.jpg

herbie!

10-9.jpg

i think herbie was before luke's time! :rotfl: (the original one anyway.)

11-9.jpg

continued in next post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30483531&postcount=1008

12-9.jpg

during this scene the first time i saw this show i literally gasped out loud!

13-9.jpg

he was very concerned about that little red car!

14-9.jpg

the stunt dude....

15-8.jpg

weeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

16-9.jpg

17-9.jpg

18-9.jpg

luke wasn't very fond of the explosions.

18a-1.jpg

there he goes, into the fire once again.

19-9.jpg

20-9.jpg

21-8.jpg

i wonder if he ever gets used to this?

22-8.jpg

the boys enjoying the show....

23-8.jpg

i tried to get "the" shot where the fireworks go up but i was a split-second early.....

24-8.jpg

i took this of luke right after the fireworks and explosions went up into the air....

25-8.jpg

the boys LOVED the show, especially luke! i lost count of how many times he said, "whoa!" or "cool!!!!" :goodvibes

snapped this on the way out of the arena.....i love that they have it sitting there! in case you've never been on the backlot tour, this was walt's plane.

26-7.jpg

that's all for tonight. sorry for the short update, but i wanted to get something posted while i had a few minutes.

up next.......some of us BOLT over to meet some new characters! ;)

that would be so fun! they played a little bit of '80's music but i was hoping for more. next time we go i will for sure let you know.

we should totally do this some time! heather - i will let you know if we get together to do it and we can all go!!!
That would be awesome!!! I am a side holder at first!!!:rotfl2:

I love Luke's face in all of these pictures. Makes me think my little guy might like it. We did it last in '06...he was just 8 months old then.

Your "friend" looks so happy! What a bunghole! Geez. Sounds like the old woman at the MVMCP parade. :rotfl2: There's plenty of room for all of us! (And a woman needs her slushy/churro)

I think I might be trying some of tha fancy mac n cheese! Looks good. I hope their escargot is good. Looks a little green in the pics I've seen.

I need to do an update but I am feeling so lazy.

Oh, that LMA looks so fun! :thumbsup2 I think DH will enjoy the explosions more than I will, but we haven't seen it before and I'm looking forward to it in March! I guess we'll have to plan a longer day though. Don't they have the shows only in the afternoon? I love seeing Luke with Pluto - he is so cute, and the same age as by DGS!

It's so nice that you made a friend, Dawn! He looks so friendly! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I must make an effort to take my boys to see LMA -- they would love all the car chases and explosions -- and I could get one of those banana slushies you are always raving about. :thumbsup2

Loved the update, sorry you are so swamped at work, I know how you feel.
LOVED Luke's faces in all of those pictures, he looked like he was super into the show, what a perfect show for boys and there aren't too many of those on property, I guess that's why my Luke loes Hollywood Studio's so much between that and Indiana Jones (wonder if you guys will make it to that show later?). That is so rude of that guy, I can't stand it when people do that, love your "actually I do" comment though:rotfl:
Can't wait for more!
Lesley

Dawn your "friend" was something else, glad you said what you did - jerk that he is. I cannot wait for my boys to see this. I think they are going to love it.

so glad you and your DS are reading together - that's so cute! i've been to both those restaurants and they're both good. for younger kids honestly i'd go to sci-fi. it's just a neat experience. now do keep in mind they play those sci-fi clips, but i don't think they're scary. luke was fine with them and he doesn't like scary things. the draw of '50's is the personality of the staff and the decor and i don't think a younger kid would appreciate those things. plus i've heard of people getting servers who aren't into the "act" and it's a let-down. we had a hilarious server there but i think i enjoy sci-fi more. just stick to the basic food and you'll be good!

DS will let me read anything to him...as long as there are fun pictures! I've been paying close attention to all the details you throw in about Luke. Greyson will be the same age at the time we go so it is helpful in getting an idea about what to expect. Kids are all different, but it doesn't hurt to prepare for the possibilities! Thanks for the recommendation! I've been leaning towards sci-fi,but I flip flop depending on the day:lmao: We are bringing our parents with us( big thank you to them for all they do) so I am trying really hard to find all the fun, unique restaurants and just other magical ideas. DH and I want this to be a trip none of us ever forget!

You guys sat exactly where we did last trip! I like how you can feel the heat from the flames when the things explode. Do they have the LMA entrance/walkway covered yet? Last time, there were like a thousand people in line for 20-30 mins in the hot sun...and that was in October! Hot sun + cramped body heat = ugh. Older people shouldn't go to WDW if they're gonna be grumpy and pushy. Hello! It's the happiest place on earth! :headache:

Luke's expressions are priceless! He just takes everything in. Sorry you are so busy at work. I guess it is better than having nothing to though huh? Great update. Love reading them!!!

Love Luke's facial expressions during the show. He is definately a boy!!! So, I guess that when that guy would've asked me if I had two husbands, I would've said, "no, he's just a fat a**" JERK!!! I'm glad you stuck up for yourself! You go girl!!!

Looks like you girls had so much fun roller skating! It's been years since I've done that!

Great update! I think the Stunt show is a guys kinda attraction. It doesn't do too much for me either. At least you made a friend! haha!
