~A XMAS STORY~decorations, crowds, pixies..AND A BLOODY NOSE~ACTUAL UPDATE 11/9 p190

Looks like you had a great time! I haven't roller skated since college and I don't think it would be a good idea now. I'm sure I would NOT be able to walk the next day!

I love the skating night! I haven't been in EONS. I do have very fun memories of skating along to 867-5309.... Ahh... good times! :goodvibes

OMG I haven't been to a skating rink in forever! I didn't actually go to the rink much as a kid but I had my own skates that I practically lived in during the hours between school and dinner. I wore my stakes everywhere and was even skilled at going up and down stairs in them.

Santa brought Patrick stakes for Christmas that he had been going around the house in quite frequently (doing well on the carpet, a little shaky on the hardwood :rotfl: ) Now that the snow has melted off the sidewalks, he has been outside on them a few times and is getting the hang of it really quickly. It's really brought back my own memories watching him.

Awwww, it looks like you guys had a lot of fun!!!! :thumbsup2

I would be like Erin, right against the wall!!!!! :rotfl2:

OMG what a fun night it looks like you guys had! Funny, my BF and I and 2 of our friends went ice skating the other night. There were SOOO many little kids there (like 10-13 yrs old) who were like pros cutting me off and stuff like that. I was totally not skilled enough to take pictures during this little escapade. Needless to say, I was the Erin of the group! I did get myself off of the wall and was pretty good at it by the end of the night though. Like ERin, if I would come to a group of kids or almost run into one of them I would say "sorry, I'm not good at this." They were mostly understanding but its so funny because our experiences were alot alike! :lmao: :cutie:

Oh my gosh that takes me back! DH and I used to go roller skating all the time. We used to do the dances, like you see on ice skaters at the Olympics. No lifts or jumps, just dancing. We got pretty good too. All the way up to the silver dances. Then we stopped because we couldn't get any practice time with all the kids who were competing. It was a fun time for us.

I'm so glad you all had fun.

Grand Jury tape was a request from a client who represents the deft. in the criminal matter. Yeah, that was a treat. I'm freelance. But the state records GJ with audio and so I had to listen to it, take it down stenographically and then produce the transcript from there. Took a LONG time.

Isn't that rush rate great??????:)

i've actually done that but just once and it was a couple years ago. we charge $1 more per page for anything that we didn't take down that we transcribe because it's so much more difficult when you don't take it down. actually seeing someone talk makes a BIG difference than just listening to a tape, but i don't have to tell you that!

It looks like so much fun!! I need to find a rink around my area now!!

it was a blast!

Looks like you all had a fun skating adventure!!! And....no bruises or soreness??? Pretty good! :goodvibes LOVE the rose story! :rotfl2:

well, i'm starting to get sore now, but not too bad. and my left elbow is a little tender where i fell on it once.

Thanks for the good laugh, Dawn!!! You were all very stylin' skaters! :rotfl:

you're welcome!

What a great time you guys had!!! I haven't been skating in YEARS! Great pics, the people popping up behind u guys in the pics were really funny!

BTW I am really enjoying your TR. I have been reading more on the DIS than posting due to the time it takes, but I'm def still reading along! I have a new TR too, just sayin:rolleyes1

it was so fun! thanks for reading! and no problem - sometimes i lurk too! i will check out your TR for sure!

Who's the guy bumping and grinding on your friend, Angie? :rotfl:
Glad you guys had a good time skating. I love to roller skate. Your video of the little kids skating had me cracking up! I totally love your southern accents!

oh, that was just some random guy. anna said he said, "i wanna be in the picture" just as she was taking it.

That looks like so much fun! My grandpa owned a skating rink upstate when my mom was growing up and her, my aunt and uncles would be there every weekend, skating and helping out. Then when my brother and I were younger we found a skating rink in Jersey where my bro had a bunch of birthday parties. We all grew up skating across the floor to flashing lights and 70s/80s/90s dance music  So many memories, I love it!!! I'm glad you all had a good time!

it was such fun! i used to go alot as a kid too. but it's been so long!

anyway, here we are getting our skates on.

BROWNIES!!!! Oh how I miss passing out those ;) Not really

an announcement came over the speakers for everyone to clear the floor because someone had spilled a coke.

Those stupid peeps that are hanging over the wall.....they are always causing problems :rolleyes1

I love the lights they have on the back wall there. Those ceiling lights are pretty neat too but our neon's on the ceiling at Brentwood are MUCH cooler :cool2: Also the confetti carpet looks very similar to what they have at Brentwood. I thought it was SO ugly when it was all OVER the place :crazy2:

first were the older guys. watch the two that are leading - they were scaring me to death!

You should have seen the game we played. It was called Paddle Tag and there were 2-3 paddles out there and of course if you were tagged you're out. But that always left the best/fastest skaters out on the floor...it was WILD sometimes :scared1:

erin braved it this time but she wouldn't move away from the wall.

Slower skaters to the inside please.....slower skaters to the inside! :rotfl:

CUTE!! You are all beautiful!!

The rose thing was hilarious BTW.....good job Erin

Oh....how I wish I could do this!!!

I had a girl I worked with that could skate like that. It is SO pretty!!!

Dawn, just wanted to let you know that I have spent the last few days reading your report. I love it !! Luke is a little cutie patootie with those long eyelashes, he is going to be a heartbreaker !!

And I just wanted to add that I loved the last installment with the skating rink !! My family owns the local skating rink back home so I spent every free minute I had there while growing up. when we go back home to visit we spend quite a bit of time there, too, but I have to say I haven't put my wheels on in quite a while. Maybe I will have to do that over Spring Break, it's really good exercise !! And I know I could probably get a bunch of my girlfriends from high school up there too if I did it on a day we are actually closed. You know, so we don't injure any poor kids in the process, and so my Dad won't mind if we have some "grown up" drinks !!

Can't wait for more !!

thanks so much for joining in! so cool about your family and the skating rink. what a fun thing to have!

hi dawn! i dont post often over here but just want u to know im enjoying your tr!

thanks, lauren!

Looks like you had a great time! I haven't roller skated since college and I don't think it would be a good idea now. I'm sure I would NOT be able to walk the next day!

it's not too bad. i am sore but mostly my legs are just TIRED.

I love the skating night! I haven't been in EONS. I do have very fun memories of skating along to 867-5309.... Ahh... good times! :goodvibes

me too! i love that song. last night was fun but i would've had more fun if there was more '80's music!

OMG I haven't been to a skating rink in forever! I didn't actually go to the rink much as a kid but I had my own skates that I practically lived in during the hours between school and dinner. I wore my stakes everywhere and was even skilled at going up and down stairs in them.

i had strawberry skates that you put on over the top of your regular shoes! then i graduated to "real" skates. i eventually got in-line skates and i still use those from time to time, but not very often. hope patrick enjoys going outdoors in his skates soon!

Awwww, it looks like you guys had a lot of fun!!!! :thumbsup2

I would be like Erin, right against the wall!!!!! :rotfl2:

we did! erin was so funny - and i'm so glad she wants to go back despite not being very good at it!

Okay Dawn, you just made my day with those skating pics! :rotfl:

oh, those kids were so bad about cutting all of us off! i understand they're better at it but it's just kind of obnoxious. i did yell at one little girl who did it and said, "you need to watch where you're going!!!!!" :rotfl: i hit one little boys skate with mine as i was pushing off and going by him and he fell down - i felt SO bad!!!! he was probably about 7 years old. i skated back around and helped him up and told him i was so sorry.

wow.....that's awesome about your and your hubby skating! really cool!

BROWNIES!!!! Oh how I miss passing out those ;) Not really

they are really attractive.

Those stupid peeps that are hanging over the wall.....they are always causing problems :rolleyes1

speaking of that, there was a group of guys near the back that would whistle or yell at us when we'd go by. it was really obnoxious.

I love the lights they have on the back wall there. Those ceiling lights are pretty neat too but our neon's on the ceiling at Brentwood are MUCH cooler :cool2: Also the confetti carpet looks very similar to what they have at Brentwood. I thought it was SO ugly when it was all OVER the place :crazy2:

this is an older skating rink in gainesville. it was the closest one to the place we went to eat. i'm sure the one in buford is nicer but we didn't care.

You should have seen the game we played. It was called Paddle Tag and there were 2-3 paddles out there and of course if you were tagged you're out. But that always left the best/fastest skaters out on the floor...it was WILD sometimes :scared1:

we didn't get there until around 8:30 so i'm sure we missed some of the festivities. they played another game called elimination while we were getting our skates but i didn't see it so i'm not sure what it involved.

Slower skaters to the inside please.....slower skaters to the inside! :rotfl:

does that mean that the slower skaters are supposed to be on the inside of the rink, like the furthest away from the wall? that doesn't seem fair! they need something to hang on to.

The rose thing was hilarious BTW.....good job Erin

yeah, she was proud of herself for that one.

Re: our TR
And I'm busy and lazy :rotfl: , but mostly I don't want it to end :sad1:

Update on this comment. I had even thought of starting a update on the TR but the fan on my laptop died. So it is not working right now :guilty: We'll see how long it takes to get fixed and how much $$$$. B/c since we have the desktop it won't be a huge rush to get it done. But no more updates at least til it's running b/c all of my pictures are on there :rolleyes1

I would like to see the one in Buford. B/c honestly from those pictures that was a pretty decent rink. And it's bulit EXACTLY like the ones here. The nashville rinks (Brentwood, Rivergate and Smyrna) are all owned by the same man. And supposedly he is the 'king' of roller skating rinks

I was looking at food pics on the catergorized thread and came across one of yours...how was this??? Is it an entree or app and what is the exact name? And the cappucinos there....were they good? I want to go here in August (I've been craving escargot since our honeymoon) so that's the pic I'm in search of....back at it. LMK girlie! :thumbsup2

What fun!!!! We used to go skating ALL THE TIME growing up, I think I had a roller rink b-day party once. You guys did awesome. Love the how she kept saying "you might want to move out of my way" as she clung to the wall:lmao: You guys look like you have so much fun together. Thanks for sharing!!!
Lesley

/DSC00296.jpg[/IMG]

she had me laughing so hard because whenever she'd encounter anyone she'd say, "you probably want to move out of my way." :rotfl2: here she is telling some people to move.

I would have been laughing at that, if I had been there.
Honestly, I laughed at it right here at home. :rotfl:

It's only 6 a.m., but the picture of the pasta does look pretty good.
Might have to have some of that for supper. I'll probably have it on my mind today now that I've seen it.

Dawn - you guys look like you had a lot fun. Me and DH used to go roller skating with friends before we got married for awhile, we loved it. My DS7 went to a roller skating party awhile ago and he wants to go back with us :scared1: .

This guy is hilarious :rotfl: I'm not sure what he was trying to do - dance? Cracks me up.

It looks like you had so much fun. I would love to go roller skating again, haven't in years! I think that they should turn one of the empty clubs on Pleasure Island into a roller rink.

Hi Dawn - trying to catch up now that I'm back.........

Great pix from the DHS parade. I have yet to see that one; Lauren doesn't like to take the time to stop for parades. I'm thinking when we're back in Dec. though, it will have to be on our must-do list - it's looks so colorful and interactive; I'm sure Amanda would get a kick out of it!

And we were lucky - the American Idol Experience had opened the day before we arrived. Lauren and I caught one of the shows - it's incredibly cool!:thumbsup2 Hopefully I"ll get my TR started soon and you can read about it and see my pix over there.

we did! erin was so funny - and i'm so glad she wants to go back despite not being very good at it!

Awww, I wish we lived closer and I would so meet you guys one day to skate!!!!!! Especially if they played any 80's music!!!:rotfl2:
