My son called early this morning and said that he and the lady he has been dating seriously for a few months spent the night in a hospital with her two-year-old daughter (from a previous marriage.) The child had been staying with her grandparents and had swallowed smelling salts (ammonia). Her lips, tongue and mouth are burned. My son and the mother took the child to the hospital, and the hospital had her transferred by ambulance to another hospital down in Baltimore.
My son felt it was a good sign that though the doctors wanted to run a barium test (?) right away that they had put it off until morning. The test was to determine the amount of damage to the esophagus and stomach. The child had thrown the ammonia up.
Nothing you all, or I, can do, I know. But this is very much on my mind. I can't call my son to find out what is going on because his cell doesn't work inside the hospital. He said he'd call when they knew anything, but it is mid-afternoon now and I haven't heard anything.
Prayers appreciated. Thanks.
