I know that people often post their customer service horror stories, so I thought it only right that the lovely staff at the DVLA in Swansea should be praised for their outstanding helpulness and professionalism (and no, I don't work for them!)
I had an issue where I couldn't find my driving licence since we moved, and need to hire a car on Friday. On what was largely a call of desperation, I called them on Saturday to find out the quickest way of getting a replacement licence. The phone system was easy and fast, I spoke to someone within a few minutes who was super helpful and told me I could go there in person and they would issue the licence in a day.
I went yesterday, they dealt with me in a couple of minutes, and said they would post the dl by special delivery today for a £4 fee, which I paid. I called them this morning and spoke to the same lady I dealt with yesterday, she tells me my licence is ready, do I want it posted or shall she hold for collection. To avoid any last minute postal problems, I decided to go there in person, get there, and she is sat at her desk with the licence there to hand to me - along with £4 in an envelope to refund the postage I paid.
For once in this life, a seamless, problem-less transaction dealt with by friendly and efficient staff. And I have my licence in a day - which I never thought would be possible
