A WONDERful way to celebrate Independence Day! - Disney Wonder July 1, 2013

Here's a Sample of what I did last year for Christmas:

Here's one of my Halloween Efforts.

If that guy is a 10 then I'm about a 8.
He's using a very high end lighting ribbon that's way out of my price range. It's a real nice effect though.

I actually looked at buying those faces for Halloween use. I just got to figure out how to store them and they're mine.

I confess that my husband's complaints when I sprung for a string of pumpkin lights to put on our porch two years ago now seem very unfounded. And that said pumpkin lights seem grossly inadequate! (but look how cute our little house is, I just love it):

...And also that I may have just turned my laptop screen and told my husband, grinning, "We're going on a cruise next year with THIS GUY!"

Too bad there won't be a light show (fireworks) to enjoy in Alaska!

Nice House. Almost Colonial looking.

I used to be the guy that hated doing Christmas lights. But on my street you're expected to do something, and I've never been the guy to only "sort-of" do things so I went all out. Now I love it.

It is too bad about no fireworks but from what I understand there won't be much nighttime either. I'll probably be envious of those in the inner cabins.

those lights are awesome!!
my husband refuses to do lights!! :-(
LOL
we are only flying in the day before the cruise, and probably leaving the day after!!

I haven't completely decided on the itinerary for this cruise yet. I plan on sightseeing in the Vancouver/Victoria area for about a week either before or after the cruise. We'll be driving up with our RV.

Hey all - now that we have a bit of a crew set to travel with us, I started a roll call in the first post of the thread with whatever information you've provided so far. Let me know if you want me to add or update anything! Last go-round, I set up a secure website (with a password) to keep track of everyone in our CruiseMeet - it had everyone's info and cabin numbers, who was participating in the FE exchange, the time and location of our meetup on the first day, and photos of everyone. I'm happy to post any or all of that in the first post of this thread, or to set up a website again if that works better for everyone. Let me know.

Sorry, I didn't elaborate. Actually both. ( I was just looking at your first post). For all my technical expertise I am the lousiest web designer.

I can have a sit rearin' to go within a week - it's incredibly easy to build something in iWeb on my mac. The only tricky part for me right now is that my MobileMe account is gone at the end of the month (Apple's doing, not mine!), so I won't have that web hosting anymore...not sure why it won't be part of iCloud. Anyone have a website already that could stand to host our site? If not, I'm happy to figure out that part in the next few weeks when my summer break starts :) I know that the website was nice last year because it made people comfortable with posting more personal information like photos, children's name, and cabin numbers since it was secure. We all just shared the password and username through PMs.

Nice! I saw your posting on the DCL board and was hoping you'd join. Have fun on the Dream. It's an awesome ship!

My son will be 12. (actually 11 but he'll be 12 a month after the cruise) It'll be his first time in the Edge. He's an avid reader (currently reading the Dragonriders of Pern books) and computer gamer. (Likes Strategy games like Civilization and Spore. Puzzle games like Portal.)

We're experienced cruisers and this will make our 7th cruise with Disney.

Thanks for the reply dsnydaddy! I don't facebook so this will be my communication means via disboards! My DS likes all the same things---he is an Avid reader & loves computer games too! He is really into Disney cruising & the Dream will be his first Edge experience. When we get back, maybe they can exchange some emails or texts, whichever you allow. I am so glad he will have a "friend" to meet before the cruise! Cool-thanks for the welcome!

Wahoo! So glad to see you'll be joining us. I have no kids to speak of, but DH is also an avid reader and plays a lot of computer games, and sometimes I feel like I'm married to a 13-year-old...does that count? :rotfl:

Have a blast on the dream, Cindy! Have you been before? We did a Dream cruise last summer (and booked Alaska on-board!) and loved every second of it. Wave hi to the crystal Remy for us!

Sure that counts! LOL! Thanks for the welcome & for adding us to the list of fellow disers cruising! I don't facebook so this will be my primary means of communication & email as well if we exchange those at a later date. This is our first Dream cruise...others have been on the Magic & Wonder...3 on other lines for cheaper quicker cruise fixes...We are HUGE Disney fans...I actually went to WDW when it opened as a very very little girl!!! So cool that I remember much of that trip!!! Talk when we get back from "living the Dream"!

Slightly (only sort of) off-topic: who is planning to see Brave this weekend? DH and I just came home from the theater and had a terrific time! It's not going to be one of our absolute favorite Pixar films (the screenwriting was just not quite up to snuff with Nemo, Wall-E, the Toy Stories, etc.), but it was a lovely movie just the same. The animation was stunning, and Merida is a terrific character!

By the way, if you're planning to see it anytime soon, don't read any reviews. I read literally two - one that said right off the bat they wouldn't spoil the big twist halfway through...and David Edelstein's...which gave that spoiler away. (Normally I love you, David Edelstein...but you've got some 'splaining to do!) Granted, the "big spoiler" is something any intelligent person would see coming from a mile away...but seeing it through Merida's eyes without being spoiled would have been more fun.

At any rate, head to the movies this weekend and enjoy! Merida's brothers are worth the price of admission alone :)

Let me know when you're back I'll get you contact info for Stuart. He'll be happy to have someone he knows too. On many of our previous cruises we travelled with some of the DIS'ers that we met on our first cruise as a result he often has someone about his age to meet with on the ship. He was somewhat missing this on this cruise because none of our usuals will be on this cruise.

We saw it last weekend. Laura and Leah loved it so much they're going to see it again. (They're taking Stuart since he was at camp). It was a fun movie.
