A Whole New WDWorld: A March PTR (NEW! 6/27 TR link!)

Yay for the test run with the stroller! :thumbsup2 I understand your stroller anxiety - I'm still not sure if we'll use one or not this trip. It will be up to Zach & whether he feels like he needs it to decompress. He used it A LOT last year but it was much hotter than it will be this year. And I think his stamina has increased since then too. We seem to have stroller issues every year. Earlier on it was which stroller to bring, single or double strollers, one or two, one or none, etc. Luckily we don't have to think about this year's issue ahead of time. The only problem will be whether to buy a length of stay rental or go day by day depending on Zach.

The travel show sounds like it was fun. Good luck coming up with an idea for summer vacation. :goodvibes

Claire and I were housebound today due to the weather, so I got a lot done as far as my Disney lists. So far, I have a packing list, garden grocer list, park bag/diaper bag list, airplane list. I am trying to get as organized as possible right now because I know I will be in a frenzy the week before the trip!

I also need to get a pedicure at some point in that week. I need to get my toes flip-flop ready!

Speaking of flip-flops, I'm really hoping for warm weather on our trip. So please join me in thinking warm thoughts!

Good luck with the snow storm...

I'm wishing for warm weather right along with you! :goodvibes

I need to schedule my pedicure too! Thanks for the reminder... I'd call tomorrow but they'll probably be closed since we're getting the snow storm here too, just not quite as bad as you. I hope your power stays on!!

We are due to get that storm tonight/tomorrow. I still have to go into the hospital for my clinical day!

Yay! Claire looks so cute sleeping! That camel freaks me out a bit! I so wish I was doing the disMeet in a month! I'm also snowed in here in Missouri, I put up pictures in my ptr if you want to see! The link's in my siggie!

Sending warm weather wishes your way! Good idea getting your hair done before the trip. For one trip to Disney I got my hair cut the day before we left and I didn't have any problems with it, one run through with my straightener and I was good to go for the next couple of days. :)

OOOH hope you're staying warm and safe during the weather up in your area!!

So glad the stroller was able to work out for you!! I equate your stroller anxiety to my bag anxiety LOL!! Never sure which one will work for me LOL!!!!

My Malinda Crocs (in black) were amazing at Disney!! They were a great night shoe for going to dinner and then into the parks!!!!!

Hey Julie...hope your enjoying this crazy snow day we're experiencing...:rotfl: and that you get dug out ok...the drifts were so bad in front of parents house they couldn't open the front door. we had fun "walking" thru the street before the plows came out :thumbsup2

So I shouldn't expect this stroller anxiety to subside any time in the near future, huh?

Renting a stroller sounds like a great option for older kiddos. So nice to not have to worry about traveling with it. And if Zach gets tired, it can be a game time decision. Nice!

Good luck with the snow storm...

Thankfully, we just had our power flicker a few times, but no true loss of power.

We did get lots and lots of snow, though!

How was the storm by you?

We are due to get that storm tonight/tomorrow. I still have to go into the hospital for my clinical day!

How did you do with the storm? Were you able to get to your clinical?!

I'm super excited about the DISmeet!

I did hear that Missouri was crazy with the weather!

I'm going to check out your TR soon.

My hair never seems to stay straight when I straighten it in FL. :confused3

I did buy some humidity lock-out stuff, though, so maybe that will do the trick? Oh well...at least I won't have roots!

OOOH hope you're staying warm and safe during the weather up in your area!!

Oh, I haven't even gotten to my bag anxiety yet! And this time it's double the anxiety. I have to choose which diaper bag (I have 3) AND which park bag. Oy!

I'm so glad to hear the Malinda Crocs were good at Disney. I can't wait to try them out myself!

Julie, this is so crazy! DH and I worked in shifts to clear the snow from our driveway. He worked for about 1.5 hours, and then I worked for about 1 hour before a kind neighbor with a snowblower came and finished the job for me. I still don't think we'll go anywhere in a vehicle till tomorrow morning, but at least we can get out of the driveway now!

We had to let our dogs out into the front yard because our back door was all snowed in. Crazy, but kind of fun!

Glad you're test run worked out so well. What stroller do you have? I think I'm going to buy a new set of umbrella strollers for the boys. Something with a high weight limit and a reclining seat, but still lightweight and easy to travel with.

Last time I was at Disney World in March, it was ninety degrees out. Hopefully, you'll get warm weather, too.

We have a Chicco Liteway. I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I think it's a great stroller. Lots of fun colors, too!

90 degrees?! Wow! I'd be happy with mid 70s and above!

We're in the midst of blizzard here in Chicago. It is CRAZY! 40 mile per hour winds, snow blowing all over the place, power flickering on and off. DH's office closed early today and his office and the PT clinic at which I work will be closed tomorrow.

So that means a SNOW DAY tomorrow!!! :cool1:

Today, I started thinking about my hair. My hair always goes haywire at Disney World. It gets frizzy and crazy and it drives me nuts! So I called my hairstylist and set up an appointment for a cut and color the week before the trip, because if my hair has to be frizzy and crazy, I don't want my roots to be showing too!

So please join me in thinking warm thoughts!

I'm in for the warm weather thoughts!

My hair is a mess all the time, but it does even crazier things when I am in Florida.

Stay warm and safe!

Hi Julie! :wave2:

How are you holding up in all the snow and ice?
Won't it be delightful to feel that warm Florida sun?

Claire is just the cutest little thing... I can't wait to see her in her first pair of Mickey ears!

Did I miss an update on Switzerland? What's happening?

Kathy

Every mom needs a good pedicure every now and then. I'm overdue. :lmao:

I'm glad you were able to put your stroller angst to rest by testing out the umbrella, and happy it worked so well!

I have to chuckle when I see the picture of the baby sleeping, because that's the majority of my photos the first time we took Nemo to Disney! :lmao:

I've already been checking the WDW forecast every day to hope for a glimpse of what it has in store for us!

Yesterday, when I left my house in the morning, it was negative 8 degrees! Brrrrrr!

Hi Kathy!

We're doing well with all the snow. Fortunately, DH and I purchased a new car that has 4 wheel drive and traction control and all that jazz. So, yesterday, when I went to work and the roads were still pretty messy, my car had no problem.

DH just heard from the people in Switzerland yesterday and they said that an offer will come next week. So, again, I'm a little bit scared, and a little bit excited. I'm very proud of my DH because he was chosen over the other candidates despite the fact that he is young and has no international experience. Of the two of us, he's the go-getter and he's gone and gotten big time this time! When the offer comes, if the monetary part is what we need, then we'll have a big decision to make.

I don't get pedicures often enough, especially now with Claire in my life! So I will appreciate this pedicure more than ever.

Oh, I hope and I pray that Claire is a good sleeper at Disney!

I'm sure she'll sleep great for you! :goodvibes

Can I ask what brand of umbrella stroller you have? All this talk on yours and other ptrs has made me think about my options for my upcoming trip! :lmao:

First, congrats to your DH for getting the job! I really think it is a fantastic opportunity! :goodvibes

The travel show sounds so neat! I will have to check out that Rick Stevens! His books sound great! Going on a real safari is one of my dreams, too.

The pictures from your Chicago blizzard were crazy! I am glad you weathered it okay!

The temps have been pretty high in Florida lately! Hopefully that pattern will continue for your trip!

There was something else I wanted to say, but it escapes me at this point...oh, I remember now.

Hilton Head Island might be a good place to look at for a beach and nature vacation. The Coastal Discovery Museum sponsors all sorts of nature activities like turtle walks, etc. Also, there are lots of dolphin tours on boats, and you can rent bikes to ride on the beach.

I guess your fella is a heckuva guy. :)

Just make them give you enough money for lots and lots of travel home. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the Switzerland job! It's so cool to get an opportunity like that, whether you decide to take it or not.

And Hilton Head Island is really cool. We went there for a couple days when I was a kid. And we spent many vacations on Kiawah Island, which is close to Hilton Head. I want to take my boys there someday. Although if you go to Switzerland, just think of all the really cool European vacation spots.

Julie, I read this article and of course I thought of you!!

Thanks, Kathy! I'm going to check it out! :thumbsup2

We have a Chicco Liteway. It's heavier and bulker than most umbrella strollers, but it reclines for optimum napping position. It's still really lightweight and compact in comparison to the travel system stroller, though. I really do love this stroller and would highly recommend it. Lots of great color options too!

Jackie, I think you'll love Rick Steves. Check out his shows on Hulu. He has never disappointed us!

I have dreamed of going on an Africa Safari for as long as I can remember. I don't think we'll do it soon, but we'll definitely do it at some point.

I mentioned Hilton Head to DH and he said he thought it was mainly a golf place? :confused3 It sounds great from what you've described. I'm going to have to do some more research.

I hope you're right about the Florida weather!

He is a great guy. I didn't know how lucky I was when I married him!

That is EXACTLY what I mean about the money. For me, it's all about being able to see family enough. If there's not enough money for Claire and me to travel home 5-6 times per year and to fly my mom out a couple times a year, then it's not even worth considering.
