Okay we are new owners at AKV and will stay there for the first time next July. I have booked 3 nights in a 2br Kidani Savanna View costing us 120 points. We are a family of 5 with three kids.....but two older teens. Our dd will be 18 just graduated from high school when we go next year. Our ds will be 15 by that trip and our youngest son 10. I am now rethinking that 2 br decision based on a couple of things. ONE....we could save 30 points by booking a 1 br and stay 4 nights at AKV vs. 3. OR....we could use those 30 points toward a 2 or 3 nights stay at the THV if they are indeed open next summer and keep our stay at AKV to 3 nights. (we are also planning on staying at BCV for 5 nights) My dd would be the one sleeping in that sleep chair for those nights. We have ONLY stayed in 2br since joining DVC and wondered how crowded this would be in that 1 br?? I guess for a few nights it would be doable. I mean for a few years when we stayed at Shades of Green....we had two queen beds, sleeper couch and 1 bathroom and suvived just fine. LOL I think when we visit the AKV resort in Nov.....my kids are going to say "let's stay here longer than 3 days". I just know it. However they want to stay at BCV again and now they are so excited about the three houses. I know I could step up and be the PARENT on this and say "no we pick two resorts and that is it" BUT I am just as excited about our trip next summer too and staying at all three. :rotfl: Any suggestions????

For those that have stayed at AKV do you think 3 nights is okay for a first stay?? Anyone stay in a 1br with that sleep chair?? I would appreciate any advice. TIA. :goodvibes

I can certainly understand wanting an extra day at AKV, and we are a family of 5 too.
With teens, I think they'll definitely appreciate the 2 bedroom more. We just recently stayed in a one bedroom. I have teens as well, and they were not so impressed with the comfort level of the pullouts. Especially if your teens are accustomed to 2 bedrooms, they might not be thrilled with sleeping on the pullouts for 4 nights.

We haven't seen Kidani yet, so it might be a huge difference, but given the space at Jambo, I'd say your DD would be a LOT more comfortable with the 2 bedroom. She'd be sleeping in pretty close proximaty to her brothers in the living room.

How long were you there for. I know Kidani will have that extra bathroom too but that won't help an uncomfortable sleeper chair or sofa. LOL

You may not be able to get THV. From what I've heard, reservations will open up Feb 1 (June open), and SSR owners will get first shot. July reservation may be tough to get.

You can "get by" with anything for 3 days. We are a family of 4, DD14, DS11. We did 10 in a Studio (amazingly, I didn't strangle anyone but came close ;) ) We did a week in a 1BR and it was fine, but we prefer the 2BR

Good luck with your decision :goodvibes

I am an SSR owner so I hope to be one of those first shots. :goodvibes

10 in a studio??:scared1: YIKES! That had to be painful. :rotfl:

Yep, 10 nights in a studio was a little too much togetherness :lmao: By the 2nd/3rd night I was ready to sell off at least one of the kids for more points :rotfl2:

If you keep re-thinking your decisions, you are going to make yourself CRAZY!

You are a DVC member.

This will not be your last trip.

You do NOT have to do everything in one trip.

In fact, maybe it's a good thing if you keep some experiences for next time - you and the kids will have something "new" to look forward to.

Just another perspective, LOL.

I have to agree with you on this too. OMG...ever since we joined DVC I have become the most indecisive trip planner EVER. We never did split stays when we stayed in the regular DVC resorts and now ONLY once did we stay put at SSR...the other two trips were split and now the next two trips are split. :rotfl2: I do have to remind myself that we will have years and years to enjoy all of these resorts but when you loved where you stayed last time (BCV) then add an new resort that you havent' stayed at and then the THV being added IT IS JUST TOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. :rotfl: I need to deep breathe and stop the craziness.
