A Weird Question About a Weird Itinerary...

OK, it's a LONG story...please bear with me...

My sister and her girls are flying home (MCO-GRR) on SWA and they are booked on a single itinerary that is MCO-MDW-GRR. At the time they booked (on points, but I am going to use the cash price for simplicity), the price was $159/person for that ticket. The other part of my family (my parents) are booked on different itinerary (MCO-MDW) but it is the same flight so they are all flying together. At the time that this was booked, this group was all flying OUT of MDW on an early morning flight after driving from GR the night before. The plan was that my sister and her kids would return on the flight to GR and my parents would fly back to Chicago and drive the car home.

Then, SWA lowered some of the prices and they got a bunch of points back. They realized that instead of driving to Chicago the night before their 6am flight, they could simply fly out of GR at 7pm and add a night to their Disney resort reservation for the same price and actually get a refund of SWA points. BUT...then they realized that now, they don't have a CAR in Chicago and Mom and Dad are booked on a one-way flight that terminates at MDW. The price to change their flight to MCO-MDW-GRR had jumped to $269 so they did not have enough points to make the switch...BUT...the price of the MDW-GRR was only $84.

So here's what happened...Dad had enough extra points to buy Mom a SEPARATE ticket on the MDW-GRR flight. We are hoping that sometime between now and October, the prices will come down on some of the 16 tickets that we have and we can recoup the points. That way, we should hopefully have enough to get one more ticket for Dad to get on that MDW-GRR flight. If not, he will just pay cash, but we'd rather avoid that since when this whole ordeal started, he had 140K points and he generously used them to pay for the rest of us first. He's also willing to rent a car and just drive home too.

Anyways....getting to my question...Since we will be in WDW at 7pm (the 24-hour point of the 2nd flight), and my parents are not getting EBCI (no need...they don't care where they sit and the other 6 of us have it so we can save middle seats for them), we won't have access to a printer to print their boarding passes. When we land in MDW, will they be able to have boarding passes printed at the gate or will they have to go to the ticket counter and then back through security? I'm just curious as to how this will all work in practice. We are all flying together, but on paper, we are all separate.

Sorry to be so long-winded...it's complicated...but that's just me:)

Yes they can get them printed at the gate. I’m embarrassed to admit how many times we’ve lost our boarding passes by the time we get through security and to the actual gate. 5 kids..... I’m more focused on keeping track of them than our boarding passes :rolleyes1

Yes. Imagine if someone dropped their boarding pass on the way to the gate. The agents have the ability to print them.

Do they have smart phones? They can check in while at Wdw. And then their boarding passes can be saved on their phones. I have my last four SW flights’ boarding passes saved in my iPhone wallet.
