We just returned yesterday afternoon from our week-long trip to The World.

Cast of characters is: Me (25 year old wife/mother), my husband Jonathan (28 years) and our daughter Paisley (who turned two last month).

Our goals and destinations for the trip: Two character dinners, five parks (MGM Studios, Magic Kingdom, Sea World, Islands of Adventure, and Universal Studios), Downtown Disney, and a resort hopping day.

This is not our first time at The World. In fact, we live only 2.5 hours away and go down at least twice a year. But it is no less exciting for us. I plan plan plan for these vacations!

It originally started out as a 5 night trip, but we added on another two nights. We stayed at the Pop Century, which I have fallen in love with!! We have stayed at four other Disney resorts (All-Star Sports, Caribbean Beach, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness). I like Pop better than the Sports and the CB....and it is ranking right up there with Wilderness Lodge for me!! I consider Ft Wilderness to be on a different "level" than a "hotel level". The decor, the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle, the store/food court, the kiddie fountains, the arcade....I love it all!! The only complaint is that we did not get a single towel animal the entire time....I was soooo disappointed!!

DAY ONE: Sunday, May 21st - We arrive in Orlando around one PM. DD was excellent on the drive down....she looked at books for the first half of the trip and slept for the second half. Wooo Hoooo!! Check in was speedy. We were on the fourth floor of one of the 50's buildings. We had a great view of the bowling pin pool! A picture of Minnie Mouse was "spray painted" on our window. DD thought that was great!!

Seems that while we were checking in, Mickey Mouse into the room and left DD a beautiful gift wrapped in Disney Princess wrapping paper complete with a ribbon on the top. DD was thrilled when I told her that Mickey (okay, okay, it was me!) left her a special gift. Inside were two small plush animals....one of Mickey and one of Minnie.

After making a quick grocery store run, we hopped a bus to MK in order to board the monorail for our 8:30 revervations a Chef Mickey's (in the Contemporary). The last time I went to a character dinner I was like eight years old, so I dont really remember what it was like. But we loved it!!! The food was good, in my opinion. DD loved the mac and cheese and cookies. DH was in love with the mashed potatoes. And I scarfed down some of the kids chicken fingers LOL! We saw all the charcters....Mickey, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Donald. DD was very skittish of Goofy....I think it is because he is so large. But she loved Mickey of course. And she thought it was so funny when Chip held her hand. The dinner took about an hour and a half.

Afterwards, we quickly dashed downstairs to the waterfront of the Contemporay to watch the Electrical Water Pageant. It was nothing spectacular, but I remember it from when I was a kid so it was fun to reminisce. The darn sand gnats were eating us up though. That night we arrived back to the hotel around midnight.

DAY TWO: Monday, May 22nd - We decided to go ahead and do Universal/Islands of Adventure. We barely stepped foot into Universal.....we were there only about three months ago. We went in to see Dora, which is DD's absolute favorite thing in the entire world. She breathes, eats, and sleeps Dora the Explorer. So she was thrilled to see her.

We spent almost the entire day in Islands of Adventure. And most of that time was spent in Seuss Landing. That place is so cool!! We went on everything in there....the Caro-Seuss-el, the Cat in the Hat, If I Ran the Zoo, One Fish Two Fish....it was all great and DD loved it. We knew to bring her swimsuit for If I Ran The Zoo. DD liked playing in the little stream. And we got to meet the characters...I especailly loved Thing 1 and Thing 2.

We ate lunch at Mythos. It was pretty good food....better than most counter service places. The inside looks like a cave...and it is nice and cool inside so that's always a plus LOL!

DH rode the river raft ride as well as The Hulk. And we got to see the Super Heroes ride the four wheelers through the Marvel land. I thought that was really cute!

And when I was walking through the big Jurassic Park gates and they were playing the theme music, I felt like I was walking straight into the REAL Jurassice Park.

We decided to eat dinner outside of the park since it closed at 7 PM. So we just went back to eat at Everything POP at the resort. I had some sort of Italian chicken stuff, which was really really yummy!

That night we discovered the arcade. It is awesome!!! We did the deal where you get 2000 points for $25. We thought that was a good deal. It's a great way to pass the time if you need some downtime. We spent two hours on two different days playing in there. So a total of 4 hours for 25 dollars is pretty good! DD had a blast attempting to play all of the games.

Again, we didnt get back to the room till after midnight. For a two year old, DD is doing pretty good with these really late nights!!

TO BE CONTINUED........

I just took my 2 year old in December for her first trip to Disney. I can't wait to read the rest of your report. Great job.

You are so lucky to live in Florida. On Memorial Day it was in the 90's and my husband kept telling me, "This is why we don't want to move to Florida". We live in yucky Wisconsin.
Thanks for sharing your Trip Report with us.

Wow, you keep a busy pace with a little one! And Paisley is a little cutie! Did your husband get soaked on the raft ride? I always get drenched on that.

Thanks for posting!
