One week in Newport Beach and spending a day at Disneyland.
Spent a nice week in Newport Beach. My wife and I rented a VRBO home 1 house from the beach. We invited our Grandson, his wife and our 2 1/2 year old Great Grandson. The place was beautiful, with plenty of room for all of us, a very big patio with a built in hot tub and an outdoor sectional with a fire pit, which we got a lot of use out of during our stay. We had lots of great dinners out and a really big plus to this rental was that it had a 2 car garage large enought for both of our SUV’s so we never had to fight for a parking spot. We had bikes, beach chairs and every thing we needed for a week of fun. The best part of all was a 30 second walk to a beautiful beach which we took full advantage of. We had a great time and the place was just perfect for us. Our dog which is a 13 year old, yes 13 year old 115lb Bernise Mountain Dog. With some health problems we could not send her off to our dog sitter so we needed a place we could take her with us and this place was a wonderful accommodation for her as well. She loved it. We had a whole week of fun and we set aside one day to go over to Disneyland to take our Great Grandson for his 5th trip to see Mickey. We have taken our kids, grand kids, great grand son, extended family members and friends to Disney World and Disneyland since the early 1980’s and have always stayed in a Disney owned resort, and DVC owners since the 1990’s so getting to a park is usually a short walk, Disney bus ride, monorail or gondola ride. This was the first time we have had to park at a disney parking lot and take a shuttle to the park. So off we went to spend a day at the Disneyland Park. When we got there the lot we were going to park at was closed so we were ushered to another parking area a few blocks away. We parked the car and off to the shuttle. I have to tell you we had to walk from the furthest side of the first parking area to the furthest side of the second parking area to get to the shuttle. When we arrived at the park dropoff area we were let off at the furthest stop away from the park entrance….we are not spring chickens and pride ourselves with not having to use a walker or scooter but we were actually exhausted before we even made it to the park. Now we have to walk all through the park. Needless to say we had a great time watching our Great Grandson have a blast on the rides. Most of the rides his father rode with him which is a joy for us in itself, our Grandson has been going to Disney World since he was a baby which we took him many times a year through out his childhood and now his adult life. We get to see him enjoy the fun on his sons face, on the rides he enjoyed as a small child. Our Granddaughter in law is expecting our second Great Grandson so she had to take it easy. Soon we all agreed we should go back to our place in Newport Beach, get our chairs and enjoy sitting out on the beach listening to the water and watching the baby have fun building sand castles with his dad and mom. So a long walk to the shuttle stop once out of the park. Get off the shuttle and now a long walk through two parking lots to get to our car. We will enjoy many more visits each year to Disneyland and Disney World but from now on, only when we are staying at a Disney Resort. In short I believe I just found another reason why its worth being a DVC owner. So you don’t have to use those parking lots. That won’t happen again.

Next time, park in the parking structure. The Toy Story lot is a pain to deal with.
