We too are WDW veterans (20+ times) and went for our first trip to DL/DCA in November. WE LOVED IT! We had become so disgruntled with WDW and the crowds, nothing new there, etc. that we had decided to go someplace else. We stayed on South Harbor Blvd. and it was fabulous to just walk to the parks, walk from one park to the other, no hordes of foreigner tourists in huge groups, rides that you can't get at WDW, friendly people, better counter service (bread bowls, yum
), Christmas overlays on rides, rides that WDW does not have including Carsland, lots of characters, Christmas parade that you don't have to pay to see, better Fantasmic, etc.. I had read that to save a spot for a parade you just put down a blanket or jacket, etc. and nobody will take your spot and I thought this cannot be true. But it is! That would never happen at WDW. Yes, we walked over 20,000 steps every day, but it was well worth it! We are planning to go back once they have Star Wars land completed and feel we are done with WDW until Avatarland is completed and whatever they are doing at Hollywood Studios. Bummed that Osborne lights will be gone also. The travel will cost us more than going to WDW, but the savings on hotels and food will cancel out that. From now on DL is our first choice!
