Welcome to Wednesday August 27th. Today we are off to Blizzard Beach. Now its been several years since I have ventured there, I seem to be a Typhoon Lagoon type of gal. I had been wanting to go back as our own Disney Mom DisneyJo keeps saying how great it is. I let Kelly pick the water park, though, and she too wanted BB.
So on a blazing hot August morning we ventured over to BB. I saw the masses already lined up at 9:30 for a 10 am opening. We went over to where a few people were waiting for the ticket window to open.
And we waited.
Waited some more.
And a little bit more.
Someone then realized the window behind the mass waiting to go in was the opened window.
The window where there was no line.
Because we were all waiting at the window that wasnt opened.
And no cast members thought to say anything.
So our small little mass went over to the open window and bought our tickets to join the big mass which was now being let into the park. Where we had to wait at another rope drop as one big mass.
At rope drop we headed over the bridge and found a nice shady spot over the hedge from the ski lift, nice easy spot to find our way back because Im blonde and may or may not have been known to not find my way back to my spot in the water parks. Maybe this has happened before, maybe not. Just sayin
After we plopped our stuff we headed for the slides, after some confusion we found our way and hit the all the slides, EXCEPT for summit plummet, no way, no how. I did not have my gyno or ortho standing by, they didnt fit in my suitcase.
We had done everything and it wasnt even lunch time. Kelly was eager for the wave pool and so was I.
Um, now here is where I got confused. There is no wave pool at BB.
NO.
THERE ISNT.
What is there, is an oversized tub where too many people float around on too many inner tubes where they proceed to hit those who do not have inner tubes in the head. There are no waves! Just a bobbing type action.
The protective aunt in me took over and knew I had to get Kelly an inner tube, no matter the cost, I was willing to risk bodily harm to myself. What ever it took to protect my goddaughter from those darn inner tubes, even if it meant I would now be subject to getting hit in the head by Kellys inner tube. I would take one for the team.
After some bobbing around amongst the inner tubes we decided to have lunch. Ok I dont really remember what we had, typical CS. I do remember the chocolate chip cookies for dessert and Pluto.
Yeah, Pluto was hanging around the picnic tables.
Now, can you imagine how hot it is in those costumes, bad enough in the regular parks but to be in the WP where everyone is almost nekkid and wet you are in one of those costumes boiling and watching everyone bobbing around in the giant tub.
That must be, shoot I was late to work today and am screwed because I have to hang out at the WP and melt.
Anywho, after lunch we headed back for another ride on a slide and now the lines were bad and it was hot standing there waiting. We called it the day and headed out of there back to BC.
We did have a good time and some laughs, but I will stick with TL from now on.
We showered and changed and had dinner at B&C again. Well I had dinner, Kelly had ice cream. Yeah, yeah, I know, bad aunt, but it was vacation. If you cant have ice cream for dinner on vacation then when can ya.
Tonight we were to meet up with Tracy at AK EMH. When we got there we headed for EE, this is officially Kellys favorite ride.
As we were walking towards Dinoland Tracy texted me that Waldo was sick and had to go to the Dr. I was sorry that I wouldnt see her one last time and worried about everyones favorite Waldo. Kelly then wanted to know why his name was Waldo. I explained about how he wanders and got tagged with the nickname Wheres Waldo. She thought that was hysterical.
It was H-O-T tonight and we all know how AK is in the heat. We called it quits about 7 I think and headed back to BC. Kelly decided she was hungry (remember only ice cream for dinner) so we went through the McDs drive through on the way back and got McFlurries and Kelly got a small fry too. Yeah yeah I know, but remember its vacation and I am not a parent.
When we got back I decided how nice a whirl pool bath would be (and yes it was properly sanitized by me first). I went to add some bath gel and I um, sorta dropped the bottle in and then sort of couldnt find it. I was covered in bubbles, as was the floor, the walls etc.
It was too funny

, I called Kelly in, who doubled over laughing and grabbed the cell and called her mother and then Murph to tell them what I did.
I think this is her fondest memory of the trip.
After cleaning the bubbles up it was nearly time for bed.
Next up: Kellys surprise
