Hey all!! :cool1: 36 days left…I cannot believe it is almost here! I am (like most DISers) a fanatical Disney freak. I live right near Disneyland and practically grew up there! I worked there through college (the best part time job I ever had….I miss it so) and still spent many evenings off visiting my boss (the mouse!!!) Growing up, my family never took really BIG trips. We went to Hawaii one year, and Nevada/Arizona a few years later, but our vacations consisted mostly of an RV and a campground. We still do this every summer, but things certainly changed shape when I became obsessed with Disneyworld! My freshman year of high school, I was involved in an all star dancing/cheerleading :cheer2: team. We competed about twice a month, usually in local competitions. That fateful year back in 1997 was my first ever trip to the WORLD when our team was invited to compete at Disneyworld! I almost didn’t go (as my grandfather was having serious heart trouble) but at the last minute my mom pushed me to go, saying that it was an experience my grandfather would not want me to miss out on. With my older sister as my “guardian” we went to Disneyworld for a short trip. We stayed at All Star Sports, which I thought was a cute little hotel, but not really my cup of tea! I saw practically nothing as 89% of our time was spent rehearsing and competing  ! We won 1st place and got to dance on the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular Stage with a live TV crew from ESPN! It was an amazing experience. As far as Disneyworld went, I fell in love with a few things: Maelstrom (Don’t hate me!), Horizons, The old Figment Ride, Epcot in general, and Tower of Terror :goodvibes . I also got to see the Castle Cake, which I thought was cute for a short period of time (would never want it to be permanent), even though it seems like everyone on the DIS hates it! That first taste of Disneyworld really had me hooked, even though I was unable to go again for another 2 years. After that short lull, I have been at least every year since then, and this upcoming trip will be notch number 10 in my Disneyworld belt! Ok, I know that may be nothing compared to some of you, but flights are $$$$$ from California! I have stayed at All Star Sports, Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Port Orleans Riverside. I have gone on 90% of these trips with my sister, my fellow Disney Partner in crime. :yay:

Anyhow, down to the trip at hand, I was desperate to go this December as it would be my only chance until October 2007 (gasp!!) due to other vacations I already committed to. My sister wasn’t sure she would have enough time off/money to go in December and my boyfriend of 4 years seemed interested in going  ! I have tried to make him as obsessed as me involving all things Disney, and he is progressing slowly but surely. I decided he was ready for his FIRST ever trip (he’s 24 years old and never been to Disneyworld…so deprived!) I wanted him to have a good time (instead of me just dragging him around) so I actually let him do some of the planning. I priced out a few options through AAA and showed him pictures of the hotels that were in our price range. The options were Animal Kingdom Lodge (my first choice), Wilderness Lodge, or any of the mods. He picked the Wilderness Lodge with such speed and conviction that I knew there was no changing his mind! I LOVE the WL, don’t get me wrong, but the Animal Kingdom was the very first deluxe I stayed at and I thought it was such a magical place! Anyhoo, we booked, we paid for ridiculously overpriced airfare and then…say it with me…we PLANNED our patooties off! :woohoo:
Well, that is not entirely true, I asked his opinions on certain things, and then *I* planned MY patootie off! These ever important details are coming your way soon but for now….here is the CAST:

Me: 24, hard worker/never give up type, sometimes TOO optimistic, career/$ driven, likes the finer things in life, like nice vacations, clothing, and shoes. Never turns down a trip to Disneyland and LIVES for WDW and DCL trips. Can be very impatient and does not like to be told what to do! Loves animals. I will be know henceforth as Ariel :earsgirl:

DBF: 24, Easy-going type who complements my wackiness well. Enjoys soccer, computer games, and watching sitcoms/stand up comedy. Takes a lot to get his panties in a bunch and he knows so well how to cheer me up. He will be known henceforth as Timon! :earsboy:

I hope you all enjoy my pre-trip report….and my trip report (I will have lots of pics, I promise) when I return!
I will end this by saying, this is my first trip report and I want feedback, so please PM with any suggestions to make it better. Also, if you like, please respond so I can feel the LOVE!

What a wonderful introduction. I'm psyched to read more! I'm with you- I was there the castle was decked out as a birthday cake and I thought it was adorable. I'd like to see it again one day for another anniversary. My fiance and I are around the same age as you so it's nice to see someone our age on the boards! We're also huge AKL fans, and we're trying the WL out on our next trip split with AKL. Hopefully we'll love it just like you. Keep it coming!

What a great start for your trip...I can't wait too read about your trip, please let us all know over on the FAQ Thread when you start posting it. Have a MAGICAL TRIP.

Yes we are, I don't think I will ever go back to paying OOP for food! I did it a few times (you could not get the dining plan as an employee for Disney) and just felt that I could not enjoy as many of the nicer restaurants/experiences.
Thanks so much for the responses so far! I'll have my next installment up soon!

Your 3rd trip in decemeber? We are going late nov/earlydec. We usually go in the summer or fall. I can't wait to see Christmas, disney style.

Yes, this will be my third trip in December! I LOVE seeing WDW during the holidays. Though there are some things I miss (swimming, water parks, late park hours) I really enjoy the festive atmosphere and all of the gorgeous decorations. Trust me, you will really enjoy it!

When we last left our heroes, it was June 2006 and they had just booked their first Disneyworld trip together and were desperately trying to plan the perfect trip. Will Ariel drive Timon crazy with her overly obsessive planning? Will Timon kill Ariel just to shut her up? Will they get the ADRs they most desire? These questions and many more will soon be revealed to you in……..The Great Planning Frenzy!!!

Good afternoon, all. This chapter marks the beginning of many months of obsessive planning and replanning, booking, then canceling, then rebooking ADRs :rotfl: . This was the time in my life when I was on the DIS WAY more than my boss would have liked. My basic plan was simple (or so I thought). We were arriving December 8th in the early AM and then departing December 13th in the evening. We had decided to fly a red eye there and just sleep on the plane (a few Benadryl and I am good to go!) and then start the fun right away when we arrived at 6:30am. For all you naysayers out there, I will say that this is ALWAYS my plan when going to WDW, and it has worked very well for me so far :thumbsup2 . I figured that we would probably get to the WL via DME at around 8 or 8:30am, try to check in and unpack. If we could not get a room, we would likely change clothes and just check our luggage….no big deal. My original plan called for MK the first day, followed by Epcot, Animal Kingdom, a free day, MGM, and then just hit our favorite attractions the last day. I had already decided to go commando (don’t groan!! It isn’t so bad with two 24 year olds) and figured our free day would be spent at Epcot (my fave park) and MK. I printed up all the park hours, EMH, and MVMCP Dates for when we would be there :surfweb: .

Though I have been to WDW twice in December, putting the itinerary was surprisingly tough for me. My sister used to be the itinerary planner and I had mostly just followed along. I wanted to make sure we hit all the major attractions, plus the parades/nighttime shows and the special holiday shows/parties. Plus, we wanted to eat at some GREAT restaurants…trust me when I tell you that we know how to eat my friends. I knew I wanted to eat at Alfredos, California Grill, Chef Mickey’s, and Sci-Fi Dine-in. I have eaten at *most* of the TS restaurants in WDW and figured I would let Timon choose a few restaurants of his choice. His top picks were San Angel Inn and Coral Reef. As a last minute surprise, Timon’s mother decided we could have one additional nice meal on her for our anniversary (4 years on November 22nd). I chose CRT for lunch princess: , as a special neat treat for us. I called, made my ADRs (and had pretty good luck as well!!). Of course, I did have to switch up some park days to accommodate our TS meals…..about 15 different times. Without boring you all to tears (if I haven't already) I will say this: my “simple” itinerary changed about 14,000 times before I finally got it to fit in all of the events I had planned.

After reading many DIS reviews of San Angel Inn, I was very tempted to change it and just tell Timon they were sold out, luckily I am an ethical person and decided to take the high road and just tell him that his top choice restaurant stunk and that we should look at something else or just cut out the meal all together. I am so nice aren’t I? :lmao: Ha ha! Unfortunately he did not take to this too well as he LOVES him some Mexican food. So we compromised like all good couples do :love2: . We decided to eat at SAI for an early lunch and pay OOP. We then have a 6pm Candlelight Processional Dinner Package at Alfredo’s (not a DIS darling to be sure but my absolutely favorite restaurant in the World…..not WDW either…..the entire World). So we agreed to eat light at SAI instead of going whole hog. I sent him pictures of the rides, photos of the WL, and even photos of the park maps.

I had also decided that we were going to be “that couple” and dress alike on a couple of occasions <insert collective groan here> and I even bought us matching Pirate Mickey Ears pirate: (pirate princess for me and pirate for him!!) and Disney Christmas Sweaters for MVMCP on December 11th. :santa: Throughout this entire process I asked him about 100 million questions and he just got sick of it. He told me that he was already burnt out and it was still 4 months early. He asked me to lay off talking about it TOO much so he can get excited about it on his own time. :guilty: I was shocked. I was hurt. I was ready to tell him to take a hike and BEG my sister to come with me. How could my enthusiasm not be infectious? Didn’t he appreciate all the time I spent planning the perfect vacation for him? Doesn’t he love me? :sad2:

What happened next to our Heroes? Did they stay at odds with each other? Did Ariel finally manage to shut her trap? Will Timon ever get marginally excited for their upcoming trip? The answer, when A Very Merry Wilderness Lodgey Pre-Trip Report Returns (after these messages)

Isn't it disappointing when people don't want to discuss Disney. I am going in April and my family rolls their eyes whenever I bring anything up. They just don't realize you can't plan days or weeks, it takes months to get things planned.

Oh, this is really cute. :goodvibes Very fun to read. I need pictures of the hers and his pirate mickey ears.

Hello and welcome back to my pre trip report. When I last left you, Timon made me swear off talking about WDW in front of him! Needless to say, he was not taking to the trip as much as I had hoped. I acquiesced and gave him a Disney-break. I promised him one full month without any talk of our trip, unless he brought it up first…..and it was tough! We go to DL every few weeks and I had to practically bite my tongue off so I didn’t keep comparing DL to WDW. The month came in went and he was happier, I was dealing with it, and my itinerary had changed another 5 or 6 times! I had at this point changed our ADRs so many times that we were eating at completely different restaurants than we had initially chosen and I was becoming increasingly obsessed with the DIS Dining Reviews Board. I wanted to eat EVERWHERE it seems. Looking back, I probably should have just calmed down and realized that I would be back at WDW soon enough and it was just not possible to eat at 11 TS restaurants in 5½ days. I had also booked 4 character meals: Chef Mickey’s for breakfast, Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner, CRT for lunch, and Restaurant Akershus for lunch. I realized that this would be overkill on a 5½ day trip and should cut it down to 2. I silently made my final ADRs for San Angel Inn (L), Alfredo’s (Candlelight Processional Dinner Package), Chef Mickey’s (B), California Grill (D), Tony’s Town Square (D), Coral Reef (L), Sci-Fi (D), and Cinderella’s Royal Table (L). I also called to make reservations for a trail ride at Ft. Wilderness and a sleigh ride from Wilderness Lodge. Then, the unthinkable happened… Timon got SUPER Excited! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: !! Here at DL, they have an event at California Adventure called Mickey’s Halloween Treat. It is a scaled-down version (so I have heard) or MNSSHP. He LOVES Halloween, as do I, but we couldn’t do WDW in October as he had not accrued enough days off. We decided to buy tickets for the Halloween Event at DCA and had an awesome time! We went without any children but got totally dressed up anyways and had a blast!! He made most of my costume (I was Jadis the White Witch from Narnia) and he was Merlin :wizard: . From then on out he was excited about the trip and even asked me questions about our plans, which thrilled me to no end. Our 4 year anniversary is this Wednesday, and I wanted to do something special for him at WDW instead o a traditional gift. I researched and found all the “normal” romantic ideas, but I wanted to do something that HE would really enjoy! I came across the Segway Tour in Epcot (Around the World on a Segway) and was sold! I couldn’t believe they still had opening when I called!! I haven’t told him anything about it (except that he was going to get an anniversary surprise while at WDW) so I think he is going to flip!! I was SO excited and I felt confident that, by cutting out some character meals and adding other fun things, like the trail ride, sleigh ride, and especially the Segway Tour, Timon is going to have as much fun as I am!

Then something I am still extremely angry :furious: about happened. Last week, I was checking my email and saw that Delta had sent me a message stating that my itinerary had changed. I opened it up and OUR FLIGHTS HAD BOTH BEEN CANCELLED! I was so upset when I saw that the flight they booked us on was completely full and we were put at the very back of the plane with someone in between us! We weren’t even sitting together for a 5 hour red-eye flight! Is that a nightmare or what??? I also noticed that the new flight was considerably cheaper than the one we had been booked on. I figured, since there wasn’t much I could do about it, I would at least call and save Timon some $$ by having them credit the difference on his CC. Well, if you know more than I do about airline policies, then you know what happened. They told me that there was no way to credit our account and that, even though we were not on the flight we booked, we were locked into our rate!! The rate we paid was $180 more expensive per person! I don’t know about you but I found this to be completely unacceptable. Honestly, was I overreacting about this? Anyhow, though we never did get our money credited, we were able to (for a $50 fee per person) put the $$ toward a future Delta flight, as long as it is used within a year. Now, I am still not satisfied with the resolution, but I am aware that this is all I am likely to get. I spoke with manager after manager…calmly stating that, though I agreed to the fare price, I was not receiving what I paid for, which was a later flight out of LAX and a later flight out of MCO…with seats together toward the front of the coach section. Alas, this did nothing but make the manager chuckle (I am serious) :confused3 at my earnest requests. So, I took what I was offered and I am now forever left with a bitter taste in my mouth about Delta. I am not letting it ruin our trip, so I decided to vent here and never speak of it again!

Timon and my anniversary happen to land on the same day as my mother’s birthday, so we decided to celebrate a few days early by going to Disneyland yesterday. He went absolutely NUTS over the Disney Christmas attire and I feel confidant in saying that he has caught the Disney Bug. He may not be fully contagious and delirious like I am (and shall always be) but it makes me so happy to think that this is something we can share together for years to come….I can just see it now, a Disney Wedding :bride: (in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in DL perhaps?), a Disney-moon (maybe a week at WDW and a week on DCL), and yearly Disney Trips with the family! How does that sound?

Oh!! :lovestruc

I am getting WAAAAAAY ahead of myself aren’t I? OK, let me come back down to solid ground :cloud9: and get back to our regularly scheduled pre trip report!

So! Now you are thinking to yourself “this brings us up to speed as of yesterday, what now?” And to that simple question….I say…..I have no idea! What to do now? We are over two weeks away from the start of our beloved trip, and I am at a loss as to what to do. The itinerary is finalized (I swore to myself that I wouldn’t tweak another thing), the documents are all here and in order, we both spent way too much $$$$ buying Disney themed holiday items (reindeer Mickey ears, Santa hats w/ Minnie and Mickey Ears, sweaters, beanies, gloves, and scarves…don’t laugh…I know it is Florida, but I am ALWAYS cold at WDW in December). We also each purchased eye covers and ear plugs for our red eye flight! So what is next for us?? Stay tuned! :happytv:

Oooh, I'm jealous! I love WL at Christmas time- it's so....well...Christmassy!

Cant wait to see the pics & hear the story when you get back!

Hello all! It is now 8 days until we leave for our trip….only eight days..and we are both starting to get super excited. Our daily ritual now is to look at the eBay Hidden Mickey Challenge and try to see who can find all four first! Then, I make him guess where in WDW the picture was taken…lame I know, but it helps pass the time til we get there. Not that the time is going to pass slowly. The last week before a trip always seems to fly by for me! Between the packing, appointments (I like to get my hair, nails, etc. done before my trips so everything looks “fresh” for the pictures), and then double-checking my packing I am in a frenzy. Plus, this year my company’s annual holiday party is this Saturday night, which makes things even more CRAZY!!!! I am also getting less and less productive at work, cause I am SOO antsy and just ready to get going. I keep repeating to myself: Only 6 more days left..only 6 more days left. It has become my mantra. I am planning on taking a TON of pictures, and post many here for your enjoyment, so I was hoping for a little help! What is the easiest/best way to post pics here, in a format that does not require the reader to click on, and subsequently go to, the photobucket site?? Can I just get a CD, save the pictures on my computer (under my pictures) and then insert them into the text boxes? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks and I’ll be checking in again soon!

Just having them on CD won't work, unfortunately- I wish it would, that would save a lot of work!

You'll need to upload them to a photo hosting service- I use my own website, but a lot of folks here use Imagestation, which is a pretty easy one to use.

Here's a great thread on the tech board all about posting pics:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=508670&page=1&pp=15

Be sure to take a bunch of the Lodge! I can't wait to get back there! (39 days to go!)

Thank you so much WDW Poly Princess :cheer2: !! I want to get my trip report up, with the pics, before Christmas :santa: …..so I thought I’d better get a jump on figuring out how to post pics. And do NOT worry…I plan on taking TONS of pictures as it will be Timon’s very first time to WDW, and our first big trip together. I already cleared out my entire memory stick so I do not have to worry about running out of space!!
I leave tomorrow and am SOOOO excited :figment: , work is just dragging by right now and sitting in my office is driving me crazy :surfweb: . I just need to keep reminding myself that in less than 48 hours, I will be at Epcot enjoying myself immensely :dance3: . But, for now, I have to work! I am not going to post again before I leave, but I promise that I will check back with you all on the 14th or 15th! Hopefully I can figure out the pictures by the 17th or 18th!! See you all real soon! :mickeyjum

Have a great time!!! :sunny:

Happy Holidays!
