A Very Merry Unbirthday April 2014 Trip Report COMPLETED 6/23

It has been so much fun reading your report. I loved the shot of the far away castle with the daisies in front. Can't wait to see your birthday dinner.

following and loving your trip report. :) I am in the process of planning our first ever trip to DL and your report is so very helpful so thank you.

Luvin all your pics. I can't wait to get there. Spent the day planning our nov trip in an effort to distract myself and the more history I read or hear about on the place the more emotional i'm getting. It's Walt's home :lovestruc

That's great to hear that you're enjoying my report. Thank you! :)

Yay! How exciting, I hope your first Disneyland trip is amazing. When are you going?

Nevermind, saw your ticker. :) You will be there for the Halloween festivities!

Aww yay! November will be here before you know it. Planning can be half the fun sometimes too! I know the feeling of getting emotional and getting chills just thinking about all of my favorite shows and rides. It's amazing isn't it?

When I last left off we were waiting for our monorail to take us to Downtown Disney.

DSCN5555_zpse86688c5.jpg

Pretty soon, the orange monorail came to pick us up!

DSCN5557_zps80518b3b.jpg

Hi Harbor Blvd! I had to get a picture of the Fairfield Inn, one of the best hotels we've stayed in.

DSCN5561_zps581d1820.jpg

Aww hi DCA!

DSCN5562_zpsa5e0a5ba.jpg

My "birthday dinner" was pretty low key. We really wanted to try Earl of Sandwich because we heard great reviews and I really wanted to go back to Trader Sams again. So we decided to do both! We soon arrived at Earl of Sandwich.

DSCN5564_zpsaaa68bae.jpg

I decided to get the Italian Sandwich, and it was so good. It is a hot sandwich so it's toasted and the cheese is melted.... Yummmm!

IMG_0641_zps8148ef33.jpg

DH got the Ham n Swiss and he really liked his sandwich as well! They are great sandwiches and pretty reasonable priced for a DTD place. We sat by the window facing the DLH so we had a pretty view to look at as well!

IMG_0642_zpsf883dbf2.jpg

From there we headed over to DLH to go back to Trader Sams! I really wanted to get a drink with a souvenir cup again to take home. We stopped and got some pictures by the pool again.

DSCN5569_zps123e88f6.jpg

So pretty in this area, very tropical!
DSCN5570_zpsc774410e.jpg

I don't think anyone needs that fireplace... It was hot enough!

DSCN5571_zps92876aaa.jpg

And here was our next stop.

DSCN5573_zpsf110cafa.jpg

And here is where I failed.. I forgot to get pictures of our first drinks! But I had the Lost Safari and DH got the Krakatoa Punch I believe. We split the last drink (that comes with the souvie cup) and it is the Shipwreck on the Rocks. After ordering I wished we would have got something different because neither of us like Bourbon, haha. But the cup is so cool! I keep it displayed with my shot glass collection in our living room. We of course got the whole "SHIPWRECK ON THE ROCKS!!!!" announcement complete with a squirt gun shooting into the air and lots of loud noises. Seriously so funny/awesome.

IMG_0644_zpsfcf3d7dc.jpg

Trader Sams has such a fun atmosphere, we really enjoyed our two visits here. We got a clean and boxed cup to take with us and headed out, feeling pretty buzzed!

I got a few more pictures of the resort and pool area on the way out.

DSCN5575_zps51986037.jpg

We went back up to the monorail station to get a ride back, and they had us take our pictures for our tickets which they hadn't done yet. We got through and went up the stairs to wait for the monorail, and it came pretty soon after.

DSCN5582_zps9d9e5191.jpg

We arrived back at the Tomorrowland Station and exited. I saw this guy with a huge mohawk so I had to take a picture, haha.

DSCN5585_zps2707f150.jpg

We walked around and decided where to go next, and realized we hadn't been on Buzz yet so we went there. Now DH always wins TSMM without a question, but Buzz is the one that I always win! : )

DSCN5588_zps2d4e8d53.jpg

And this is what we got. And no that joystick is not covering another number. I got 51,000 more points then he did haha!

IMG_0651_zpsb4a2375d.jpg

During our lunch we missed a FP time for BTMRR so we headed back over to get more for later.

DSCN5592_zpsca19b004.jpg

DSCN5593_zps6617ad3a.jpg

From there we decided it was time for another ride on the Haunted Mansion to off through New Orleans Square we went!

HM was basically a walk on the whole day!

So while we were waiting in the foyer, I wanted to take a picture with a scary face and although DH didn't get that memo he did move too quickly so he looks like a ghost. Good Haunted Mansion selfie... hah!

DSCN5608_zps0067974b.jpg

Soon we were stepping back onto our dooooom buggies, and off we went. At 5:16 pm I have it recorded that "We have been unavoidably detained by pranky spirits." we were in the bride room.

IMG_0652_zps1a04919f.jpg

It didn't last long and we were back up and running again.

IMG_0655_zps4cc3699f.jpg

DSCN5613_zpsa59d6f22.jpg

After Haunted Mansion we had a sweet tooth to satisfy and I had one more treat on my list to try, so we headed over to a stand to get a Mickey Premium Bar!

IMG_0661_zps57c780a1.jpg

What a great view to sit and look at.

DSCN5618_zpsdfa71c25.jpg

It was already time to use our BTMRR Fast Passes. This was supposed to be a crazy busy week/weekend and we could have easily rode this 15 times in a day. It may have been different if we had Indy to get FP's for but this ride just didn't sell out as fast as we had anticipated.

DSCN5621_zps064ca251.jpg

After BTMRR we decided to head over to Fantasyland again. We both like Peter Pan and wanted to see if it was worth just waiting in line and it would also take some time out of the sun for a bit.

DSCN5623_zpsc6fd8b3a.jpg

We went through the side of the castle by the wishing well.

FL really wasn't as crowded as it was any other time we came through here.

DSCN5636_zps9c18d7a6.jpg

PPF had a 40 minute wait so we just decided to go for it. I don't think it actually ended up being the full 40 minutes.

My favorite part of this ride is flying over London and through the stars. I've been to London so it is cool for me to see! The ride is over so fast though it makes you wonder if it is really worth all the waiting.

DSCN5645_zpse515d759.jpg

I had to get a pic with the "Treasure Cat" as my DH calls him... haha!

DSCN5646_zps1b7eaa71.jpg

We headed over to Space for more FP's and then over to Autopia.

DSCN5650_zps8532e3f5.jpg

DSCN5652_zpsabce74cd.jpg

This time I steered while he pressed the gas pedal and took pictures.

DSCN5658_zps81ef4539.jpg

I was concentrating very hard on the road.

Ah, finally the sun is starting to go down!

DSCN5664_zpsc3e421b1.jpg

Annnnd that makes 25 pictures so I will stop there for now!

Your trip report has a great balance of photos and commentary. I've thoroughly enjoyed following along. Last time I was at Disneyland was in conjunction with college visits with my older son -- 12 years ago.

I have a solo trip coming up and really want to go to Trader Sam's. Do you think someone your aunt's age :rolleyes1 would feel comfortable there alone? If so, I'll have to study up on the drinks that involve theatrics so I know what to avoid!

Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying it. :)

I am pretty sure you would feel comfortable there. If you don't order the "event" drinks and maybe sit at a table on the side you won't get all the attention. There is enough to watch and look at in the place that it would be entertaining enough!

Thanks for replying. I think I'll try it my arrival day. With the three hour time difference I can go relatively early (before the rowdy crowd ;) ) and get in and out quickly if I don't feel comfortable there. I've read so much about it that I'm anxious to see it.

No problem, sorry it took me a few days! Yeah I think you would find it pretty fun. We went here on our arrival night and it was such a fun way to kick off the vacation. I hope you have a great time there and on your whole trip! :goodvibes

I'm back! Sorry it's been a little while. Hope I didn't lose anyone! So when I left off it was getting to be dusk. It was cooling down pretty quick and as you can see from the pictures above I already had my jacket on! It cools down quick in California (I'm also a whimp ;)).

We were just leaving Autopia and I took a bunch of pictures of this view and of the Matterhorn.

We then decided to check out Pixie Hallow, which is seriously so pretty at night!

DSCN5673_zpse5a8c9c8.jpg

One of my favorites!

DSCN5675_zps9afbb511.jpg

It was about 7pm or so and yet again we had some FP's for BTMRR. See? We seriously rode this 30 times, haha. So we headed that way!

We were hungry for dinner but since we had a late/big lunch and drinks we decided to share the taco salad at Rancho Del Zocalo. This meal is one of our favorites! We got seats outside that overlooked BTMRR so that was nice to watch while we ate.

IMG_0700_zps843b5b95.jpg

Once we got done there, we headed over to the Haunted Mansion and it was a walk-on so I seized the opportunity to snap a picture without people.

DSCN5694_zpsc53f3991.jpg

I got a night picture of Splash before we headed over to ride POTC for the last time.

IMG_0706_zps5b3cd24f.jpg

DSCN5709_zps90895a36.jpg

At this time we had Space FP's to use. Our last ones of the night! So off we went to enjoy one last intergalactic adventure.

IMG_0711_zps12c85b7d.jpg

DSCN5715_zpsb93f8a29.jpg

At this point it wasn't very late but we were pretty exhausted. I wanted to try and find this Haunted Mansion poster magnet that I had my eye on the whole trip so we decided to head out to the World of Disney store, I took a lot of pictures on the way out. We all know this feeling. Walking out of the park for the last time? Yep, I was sad!

Continued in Next Post!

As I stopped to take pictures of the entrance, the fireworks started. It was a perfect Disney farewell.

DSCN5724_zpsb7dd1154.jpg

Until next time Disney...
DSCN5726_zpse1981876.jpg

We made our way in to the World of Disney and I could not find that magnet anywhere! We thought we saw it over at the DLH when we were in the gift shop there earlier so we decided to head over there.

I stopped and got a picture of this dragon at the Lego store on the way.

IMG_0713_zps75f5c461.jpg

Got to see the awesome DLH pool one last time too!

DSCN5733_zps7acb3ae6.jpg

We looked around in the gift shop and could not find the magnet there either. I should have bought it when I saw it the first time! DH offered to run back in the park to find it there but my legs felt like jello and I knew his did too so I didn't want him to have to do that! I thought it was so nice of him to offer though. :lovestruc

So we said our goodbyes to the lovely DLH and made our way over to the tram. I was so sad to be leaving but very happy at how our trip turned out. It was record temps and crowds were expected to be high, which are two of our least favorite scenarios... but since we knew that going in we were prepared and really had the best time! It's one of those trips I will look back at for a long time and smile. :)

So that's pretty much it. The next morning we headed out early to get back to our doggies who we missed so much! I'm glad I wrote this report, it will be fun to read and remember everything. I hope you all enjoyed it too! I will definitely be writing one again. It's been fun! Thank you all for reading along. Now it is my turn to read all of yours. :woohoo:

Thanks for the trip report! It was pretty much perfect.... Lots of great pics and good commentary. I really enjoyed it!

I didn't realize this was a report from almost a year ago when I started reading it, but I really enjoyed it!! Especially hearing about Trader Sam's. That is one of the things I'm looking forward to trying for the first time in just over 2 weeks!

Here is me with my drink. I got the Pirahna Pool and there was no shouting involved.

IMG_0492_zps38e01a1f.jpg

The two that look the best to me are the Piranha Pool or the Ka-blue-ie, so it's nice to see a pic of this one!
