A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

this no internet policy at work is killing me. Page 5 already? I must say how excited I am for the PTR though.

Your Trs are 1000 times better than my trips I go on.

So excited we leave on the 27th

Here's my entrance contribution:

It isn't exactly professional but I love making my boys b-day cakes, this one was younger DS's 4th birthday cake. After Saturday I'll put one of older DS's 8th b-day cake.

That's so cute! Is your grass green coconut?

Thanks. Yes, coconut and a few drops of food coloring in a ziplock bag - give it a good shake and you have grass. We did the same thing at Easter and made cupcakes with grass and jellybean eggs

Wow - all these cakes are amazing guys!:goodvibes Very fun!

Lurkyloo - I think you have spun a dynasty of cake worshippers!;)

I have it saved cause DH would really love this and I'm hoping I can find someone to make it!

That is AMAZING! I showed DH and he went "Ooooooooooh!" :rotfl:

I want to play, too! I am a big cupcake person (always looking for the perfect cupcake!) so this is my offering..

Made with Girl Scout cookies!!

I love those - especially the gorgeous purple wrappers. I am trying to imagine what a Samoa cupcake would taste like, and I think it would taste like GOOD! :thumbsup2

 Congratulations! I am sure your trip will be at least 1,000 times better than what I will be doing while you are gone, namely, sitting in a cubicle all day. :lmao:

My DD's first word was duck. So here is her first birthday cake.

A-friggin'-dorable! What flavor was it?

I think it looks great! I can't believe you guys who can make 3-D cakes!

Lurkyloo - I think you have spun a dynasty of cake worshippers!

:rotfl2: Either that or we are all secretly cake worshippers but just needed a little encouragement to reveal it!

Hmmm... I guess I'd better post some actual plans in my pre-trip report.... :scratchin

I realized that we need to also see the Osbourne Lights and Candlelight Processsional while we're down for Christmas.

Does anyone have any tips for the best way to do these - especially tips on avoiding crowds?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I think the Osbourne lights are just plain crowded and there is no way to avoid it. People start lining up before it gets dark. I think once you get used to the number of people surrounding you it becomes less annoying and you don't feel so space deprived.

I would recommend the Candlelight processional dinner package. You still have to line up, but if you line up early you can get decent seats at the front left of the theatre (at least thats how we were seated a few years ago). I love the CP because I love hearing the Christmas story in its non politically correct format.

Forget it with the Osborn lights - just enjoy the crowded-ness! It's really not bad, because you're not trying to do more than look at things. I strongly recommend getting in the middle of NY Street a little early so you can be part of the flipping of the switch. Grab a cup of cocoa, people watch and enjoy! Once the initial "show" is over, hang tight and let folks move around until it thins out some, then stroll around to see things up close. We go every year and this approach hasn't let us down yet! :thumbsup2

As for the CP, I haven't sat down to watch it in ages, so I'm no expert on how to navigate that. (Years ago, we arrived 10 minutes early and just sat down in a bleacher. Things have changed. ;) ) But I will say this: if you don't want to deal with standing in line, you can watch the whole thing by standing behind the amphitheater. The sound's just as good.

I'm loving all the cakes on here so far. Some of them are just so creative. This was my birthday cake this last year. Ignore the big white out mark in the middle of the cake.

See, Disney is never far from my heart. ;)

As for help with OL and CP, I can give no hints or tricks. :confused3

One tip I've heard for the Osborne lights is to go AFTER Fantasmic. People start leaving then.

Following that train of thought, I might consider going DURING Fantasmic.

The only tip that I can offer is one that has already been offered previously---and that is to book the CP lunch/dinner package if possible AND if possible, go to either the 6:00(ish) or 8:00(ish) show.

This year, we wanted to "Eat/Drink Around the World" on our night at Epcot, which means I can't really book the dining package. If we decide we reeeeally want to see the CP, we'll just line up like 90 minutes in advance and hope for a seat somewhere. If not, from what I understand you can still hear and sort of see what is going on, so that wouldn't be too horrible.

It seems like there are so many fantastic things that happen at night during Christmas (Osborne Lights, MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, Tree Lightings) and for us, it's going to be hard fitting them all in. :sad2:

What days are you guys planning to be there anyway? You said second week of December, but didn't give us dates. How are we supposed to adequately stalk the official stalker of all stalkers (you) while at WDW if we don't even know your dates??? These things take planning you know!!!! :scared:

ok my entrance fee...
and seriously how cute is this cake?

That is about the coolest thing I have ever seen...the only thing that could make it cooler would be to have Yoda in there somewhere...AWESOME cake

Joining in! Looking forward to all of your yummy reviews. I still need to try the chocolate peanut butter cake. :goodvibes We did the CP Dinner package last December. I thought it was nice but a bit pricey since we dined at Marrakesh. The Osborne Lights are definitely worth the crowds. We are looking forward to BLT for our anniversary. Ahem to renting points! :worship:

My entrance fee. DD's birthday cupcakes for her party on the 27th.

I agree with this. I did this last year. I arrived just as the show started and I stood behind the white tape near a CM. I could see perfectly and the sound was excellent. I love this show so it wasn't hard to stand for the duration!

Okay...I just gained 10 lbs. reading through the first eight pages! :rotfl: Any report that can mix Disney and desserts is perfect in my book!

Here's my entrance fee!
