I did not know there was a Passporter guide for DVC. Interesting.
Yes, and it's a fantastic resource because it breaks down exactly how much it will cost and all the pros and cons (I can say that because I didn't write it! ) Glad you liked the update.
I'm a little embarrassed to admit I never knew what that was, but was very curious. Thanks for helping me out!
Yeah, they used to have these "swan" boats that would take you from there all the way out to the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, which I think sounds really cool.
I was so excited this morning to see your update! I love the shop windows as well, and they looked really cute! I am going to have to try that peppermint shake! I love peppermint flavored ice cream.
Oh then you're gonna love the peppermint milkshake!
Firstly WOWEE That is so cool you will be going to Japan (I would to go there someday!) But I totally get the whole last minute thrown in at the deep end feeling. I always have packing anxiety dreams, usually I've forgotten underwear
.
Oh my gosh!

Let's see. did I remember to pack underwear...?
Ummm, I think sometimes they are spot on unfortunately It's just not the same atmosphere (and considering the French didn't even want it to be built there. I have no idea why they didn't put it in Spain - better weather, still close to most of Europe, friendly people that have put up with all us Brits invading their south coast to turn it into Britain abroad (a pet peeve of mine, why go abroad if you're gonna eat the same food, only speak English and complain about the locals???) ) - hopping off my soap box.
I love it! And I love the Spain idea - I wish they'd consulted you first!
Oh yeah the TR - it's a shame you didn't enjoy the BCV as much after the BWI.
I feel like a traitor b/c BCV has always been our favorite resort. I just think it might be time for a refresh like the BoardWalk got...
I
Great update, Carrie! After seeing that shake photo, I am making plans for a Shamrock shake for lunch. I know, not even close to the same as the Plaza, but it'll have to do for now...
Oooh! I hope it was magically delicious!
I know I don't post often, but I do enjoy me a lurkyloo trip report! Have a great time in Japan, I hear it's amazing. Friends of mine lived there years ago, and one of them was recruited to be Pete from Pete's Dragon in the parades. He refuses to show me pictures though.
Aw, man! Those are prolly some great pictures then!

Thanks for posting!
I have always wanted our first DVC stay (if we ever rent points, lol) to be at Beach Club, but after seeing your pics maybe I should switch to Boardwalk! Ironically, it will be neither since our first official visit will be to Disney's Hilton Head Resort next week (just for 1 night though on way from Savannah to Atlanta to visit friends- okay not exactly on the way but a good excuse to get Kris to go to a Disney resort on our anniversary trip.)
How exciting! I love Savannah - I hope you guys have (are having?) a great trip. Happy anniversary!
So, I have to ask if the time you spent in line at Disapalooza for shots with the Toys Story gang then made up character line #3?

Yes... yes they did... I'm going to have to seek treatment!
T
Mmm, the Plaza looks good! I've never been there, but your yummy pictures of delicious looking burgers and shakes are quite convincing!! I wish I coulda been there!
Lovin' the report, and I am already anxious for your Japanese TR! Is that wrong?

I am too! But now the pressure's on to write a funny trippie...
I just love this picture, it totally captures everything Disney...
Definitely - it could be an advertisment!
I agree....my fav pict of the lot!!! Sigh...I wish I had friends to follow me around Disney to take all my picts for me.....that would be SO great to be in the pictures so my family remembers I was on vacation with them, although, unless I lose some weight, maybe it's better I'm not!

I think it's time the rest of your family learned to operate a camera and gave you a break.
Awesome as usual. Peppermint milkshakes?!
And how!
DH and I thought about Tokyo this summer but I was too overwhelmed with the language and lack of online resources, so we decided to go to Europe instead.
Now that you will soon be posting a TDL and DisneySea TR, perhaps that will help my research and we can go summer 2011
Can't wait to hear what happens over there. Best of luck! I want extensive food porn!
Done! And, yeah, the lack of English-language books on TDL is daunting, but there will eventually be a PassPorter guide, so that will help!
As others have said, LOVE the Roots' photo of the little boy on his dad's shoulders in front of the tree. GORGEOUS! I want to get married just so they can take some pictures for me!
DO it! DO it!

You guys are scaring me!!!
When do they start with the peppermint milkshakes???? I gotsta get me one of those!
Hmmm... maybe November when the Christmas decorations go up?
This post cracked me up. Although I did have a weekend of very little sleep.
That's the secret to thinking my reports are funny.
Neat to see the camera/lens than Nathan used to take that milkshake photo. I also love that he had to take the photo of the people with the mayor. Although it will probably give those people a huge complex.
All this time they've been blaming the camera for the crappy photos!
I think the swan boat place has "an old world charm".

Fun update! I was just thinking about another TR for Tokyo Disney - and I just can't wait to see yours - it will be great comedy material!
I hope so - but I hope not for the usual reasons, which is that something went horribly wrong...
That is amazing!! I dream of going to Japan! I'll be traveling through you
Thanks for coming along for the virtual ride!
Love the last update Carrie! Those milkshakes look sooooo good! Sorry you werent loving the BCV. The last time I went in one they were so small compared to some of the other resorts which did not make me want to stay there.
Yeah, we used to love BCV... OK, we still do, but it's lost some of its lustre for us...
We've been to the Plaza Rest 3 times since you first posted about going. We really like it. There have been "visitors" on every visit. I love the interaction and it being a smallert place. DSs had the milkshakes and loved them.
I'm so glad you like it! It still feels like a secret, even though, you know, we're never the only ones in the place...
Sorry they have not reburbished BCV.
I'm holding you personally responsible.
Can't wait till our next trip but then I'm secretly trying to get DH to go to DL.......
Advice on where to stay????? what else to see nearby? I'm probably dreaming but I'd like to be prepared if he gives in. looking at last week of June or week of July 12
Well, I'm partial to the Grand Californian just because it's right in California Adventure and has the best theming of the three Disney hotels. But if you can't get a good rate there, some of the motels on Harbor Blvd. are decent and actually even closer to the main entrance than GC. People love the Howard Johnson, and they usually have Mousesavers discounts. And the Best Western Park Place Inn is THE closest to the main entrance. The rooms are a fairly good size, but the pool is a postage stamp. If you have wheels, the Hilton has way better amenities at cheaper prices than Paradise Pier (usually... with an
AAA discount). And theoretically you can walk to the parks - it just takes about 20 minutes.
What else to see nearby.... the beach is maybe 30 minutes away, and of course there's Hollywood and LA about an hour away. Right nearby is kinda Deadsville, unless you want to see an Angels game. That's always fun. Oh, and the train stops right by the stadium, so if you could get to the station, you could take a day trip to see the mission at San Juan Capistrano - gorgeous - or some of the other beach towns!
I am about to embark on my very first trip into
Disneyland (via Adventures by Disney's 'Backstage Magic' vacation March 28th - April 3rd)

& would like to ask you the following:
Where would I find Bert & Mary Poppins???? Are they out in Disneyland OR DCA or ??
Oh man, this is tough. I am not much of a character spotter, but I can say that I feel like I don't see them very often at Disneyland. In the parade maybe? And you'd think they'd hang out near Carnation Plaza cuz it looks like where they had ice cream with the penguins, but they don't really...
Ok I need the low down on these cupcakes...Why doesn't sprinkles mail order cupcakes???
I have to wait until one gets to NY
Aw.... I think maybe they want to preserve the quality of the cupcakes and they just wouldn't travel well? You'll just have to come to Disneyland.
Carrie.....I saw this and thought of you........now the trips to WDW are endless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, I KNOW!!!! I was SO excited when they announced this. Like, almost-forgot-we-were-going-to-Tokyo excited!
I just read your last installment and all I can think about is the Peppermint Milkshake.
And by the way, we're heading to DL this May. So looking forward to it!
Oooh! Congrats! You are going to have a blast!
