DH and I thought about Tokyo this summer but I was too overwhelmed with the language and lack of online resources, so we decided to go to Europe instead.

Now that you will soon be posting a TDL and DisneySea TR, perhaps that will help my research and we can go summer 2011

Totally agree with you on the BCV rooms. They need a refurb. But you definitely can't beat the location.

As others have said, LOVE the Roots' photo of the little boy on his dad's shoulders in front of the tree. GORGEOUS! I want to get married just so they can take some pictures for me!

And I'll be interested to hear about DL Paris from yours! So far, it's probably the park we're least interested in, just because we hear horror stories about rude cast members and smoking everywhere and bad weather, but I'm hoping those are exaggerated!

This post cracked me up. Although I did have a weekend of very little sleep.

The Brits/high tea thing, the mayor's woman thing, the photo of you and Cheryl not actually being at that time. And probably more, but I didn't take notes or anything.

Neat to see the camera/lens than Nathan used to take that milkshake photo. I also love that he had to take the photo of the people with the mayor. Although it will probably give those people a huge complex. All this time they've been blaming the camera for the crappy photos!

I think the swan boat place has "an old world charm".

Almost on cue, the moment we sat down, the mayor and his one-woman entourage showed up. They show up EVERY time we eat there (who knows – maybe they’re scheduled at 15-minute intervals, but I like to think they’re stalking us…)

As usual, we were not picked as Family of the Day. However, when the mayor spotted Nathan snapping pictures, he asked him to take a photo of the Family of the Day meeting the Mayor with their camera. Little did they know, they were about to get the best shot of their entire trip!

Love the last update Carrie! Those milkshakes look sooooo good! Sorry you werent loving the BCV. The last time I went in one they were so small compared to some of the other resorts which did not make me want to stay there.

We've been to the Plaza Rest 3 times since you first posted about going. We really like it. There have been "visitors" on every visit. I love the interaction and it being a smallert place. DSs had the milkshakes and loved them.

Can't wait for another update and your trip.

Sorry they have not reburbished BCV. The BC rooms were nice after the update. Beach Club is the absolute fav resort for our family. Can't wait till our next trip but then I'm secretly trying to get DH to go to DL.......

Advice on where to stay????? what else to see nearby? I'm probably dreaming but I'd like to be prepared if he gives in. looking at last week of June or week of July 12

Starting March 11th, you can purchase annual pasports for both coasts. Yikes. I figured I would have to go to DL and WDW both twice each year and it still wouldn't cover the 700 cost. Really only good for east or west coast folks (primarily East) and people that travel often.

Yes, and it's a fantastic resource because it breaks down exactly how much it will cost and all the pros and cons (I can say that because I didn't write it! ) Glad you liked the update.

Yeah, they used to have these "swan" boats that would take you from there all the way out to the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, which I think sounds really cool.

I was so excited this morning to see your update! I love the shop windows as well, and they looked really cute! I am going to have to try that peppermint shake! I love peppermint flavored ice cream.

Firstly WOWEE That is so cool you will be going to Japan (I would to go there someday!) But I totally get the whole last minute thrown in at the deep end feeling. I always have packing anxiety dreams, usually I've forgotten underwear

Ummm, I think sometimes they are spot on unfortunately It's just not the same atmosphere (and considering the French didn't even want it to be built there. I have no idea why they didn't put it in Spain - better weather, still close to most of Europe, friendly people that have put up with all us Brits invading their south coast to turn it into Britain abroad (a pet peeve of mine, why go abroad if you're gonna eat the same food, only speak English and complain about the locals???) ) - hopping off my soap box.

I love it! And I love the Spain idea - I wish they'd consulted you first!

Oh yeah the TR - it's a shame you didn't enjoy the BCV as much after the BWI.

I feel like a traitor b/c BCV has always been our favorite resort. I just think it might be time for a refresh like the BoardWalk got...

I know I don't post often, but I do enjoy me a lurkyloo trip report! Have a great time in Japan, I hear it's amazing. Friends of mine lived there years ago, and one of them was recruited to be Pete from Pete's Dragon in the parades. He refuses to show me pictures though.

I have always wanted our first DVC stay (if we ever rent points, lol) to be at Beach Club, but after seeing your pics maybe I should switch to Boardwalk! Ironically, it will be neither since our first official visit will be to Disney's Hilton Head Resort next week (just for 1 night though on way from Savannah to Atlanta to visit friends- okay not exactly on the way but a good excuse to get Kris to go to a Disney resort on our anniversary trip.)

Well, I'm partial to the Grand Californian just because it's right in California Adventure and has the best theming of the three Disney hotels. But if you can't get a good rate there, some of the motels on Harbor Blvd. are decent and actually even closer to the main entrance than GC. People love the Howard Johnson, and they usually have Mousesavers discounts. And the Best Western Park Place Inn is THE closest to the main entrance. The rooms are a fairly good size, but the pool is a postage stamp. If you have wheels, the Hilton has way better amenities at cheaper prices than Paradise Pier (usually... with an AAA discount). And theoretically you can walk to the parks - it just takes about 20 minutes.

What else to see nearby.... the beach is maybe 30 minutes away, and of course there's Hollywood and LA about an hour away. Right nearby is kinda Deadsville, unless you want to see an Angels game. That's always fun. Oh, and the train stops right by the stadium, so if you could get to the station, you could take a day trip to see the mission at San Juan Capistrano - gorgeous - or some of the other beach towns!
