A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

As we walked over the bridge to the Swolphin, DH paused, held his camera up to the hotel and commanded, “All right, SMILE, you piece of garbage!” If I’d been drinking milk, it woulda shot out my nose…

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That is too funny! I hope you don't mind, but I am totally ripping off your "Swolphin" nickname. It's absolutely perfect. I told my mom about it and she couldn't stop cracking up.

Another great installment! :cutie:

Oh my gosh you guys - Patrick and I are going to TOKYO DISNEY!!!!

And we're leaving in TWO WEEKS!!!!

He just scored a puppet building/performing gig in Tokyo, and I guess they staff these things at the absolute last minute? So we are SUPER excited, but I am also SUPER nervous, because the timing puts us at Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea during what they call "Top Season" - THE most crowded, most expensive, most crazy Fourth-of-July-meets-New-Year's-Eve-at-WDW time to go to a Disney park that's already crowded even on weekdays in the off season and everyone literally RUNS to line up at the FastPass machines for half an hour when the park first opens! :scared:

Plus, this is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime trip I was expecting to plan over the course of at least a year, with time to learn a passable amount of the language and plan day trips and make our reservations at Tokyo Disney six months out to get the cheapest rooms. In fact - in the six years before we went on our first trip to WDW, I had this recurring nightmare that we just dropped everything and went, with no plans and no ADRs, and did everything wrong and saw nothing and felt soooo disappointed - and now I have that feeling in real life! :scared1:

But hey, what am I saying? We're going to Tokyo DisneySea! :woohoo: Even if I only get on three rides, that's three more than I ever thought I would in the foreseeable future! :rotfl:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! >whump!< :faint:

P.S. - A new installment of the trip report is on the way! I know that's what you're actually interested in ... :teeth:

That is so exciting, can't wait to read that trip report! There is a Tokyo Board on here now, i'm sure you know that already though.

WOW!! That is so awesome! I would be freaking out too as I like to be as prepared as possible for everything (side note: I returned some items to CVS this weekend and the cashier asked me why I was returning them, I was so unprepared for him to ask me this [as he didn't have a form or anything he was just asking] that I started to stutter, shuffle my feet, sweat profusely, and look around. I looked like I was trying to smuggle drugs into CVS through returned hair product .). I'm sure you will have an amazing time (i.e. we want to hear ALL about it! :)) and hey, if nothing else it's great experience for when you get to plan another trip during your retirement years :rolleyes1.

You and Patrick are just ADORABLE together! :goodvibes Looks like you had a lovely evening!!

Aw, thanks! :goodvibes Do you think we're cute enough to be child actors?

Yes! Come play with us in Florida in the middle of June!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh......tempting........although I bet in you can only use the cash in certain pre-determined Disney locations :lmao:

Aw, nuts! :headache:

I confess, I stole "Swolphin" from the Internets, but I will happily take credit for it! :teeth:

You know, I only just discovered it yesterday. I can't wait to read all the threads on it while it's still a manageable size!

:rotfl: I love your CVS story! Sometimes I prepare a little statement in my head before I return things just so that won't happen. But most of the time, they don't give a hoot - that guy must've been bored!

I hope I can make some good progress on this trip report before we leave, cuz I'm gonna have TWO (and a half, if you count D23 Expo :rolleyes1) to do when I get back.

I am so jealous Carrie!!! You will have an awesome time and we expect tons of pictures from this! Let us know if you will be able to live blog or twitter from this trip (I'm not expecting that, but it would be really cool!).

Carrie that is awesome! You better do some Tweeting on that trip! I can't wait to hear about it since I plan on going there one day...

That's awesome Carrie! DH and I have plans to visit DL Paris in a few years and eventually the rest of the Disney parks as well. I can't wait to see TDS from your perspective.

Thanks :) I will definitely be preparing something to say when I return things in the future! When I have to call clients (not often) I actually write what I'm going to say if I get their machine and what I'm going to say if they answer. If not it's a big old mess, my mouth works faster than my brain can catch up.

Can't wait to read all of it! (No pressure though, take as long as you need :))

Holy cow! Well no because there are holy cows... okay holy frick! Wow! I AM SO THRILLED FOR YOU! Amazing opportunity what excellent news! You will get it together if anyone can, you will! This is so funny because my DH has decided our next Disney plans should include Disney Tokyo, so your report will be the fuel for that fire! I will be watching your thread taking notes!! YAY FOR PUPPETS!! You do realize you will be the tallest one in Tokyo right? :rotfl:

We will be taking TONS of pictures, don't worry. Also, I am not sure yet if I will be able to Tweet because AT&T's international data roaming charges are RIDICULOUS! I'm all freaked out because I'm going to have to use, like, guidebooks and maps instead of my iPhone.

I am definitely planning a trip report, and I hope that the hotel will have free Wifi so at least I can log on an Tweet at night.

And I'll be interested to hear about DL Paris from yours! :thumbsup2 So far, it's probably the park we're least interested in, just because we hear horror stories about rude cast members and smoking everywhere and bad weather, but I'm hoping those are exaggerated!

Can't wait to read all of it! (No pressure though, take as long as you need :))

:goodvibes

And the widest! :rotfl2: I will be saving a bundle by *not* shopping for clothes while we're there.... Plus, it sounds like we can walk right up for parades and shows because we'll be able to see over all the people who've been waiting for hours! :teeth:

What a great surprise! I'm sure you'll have a great time! Take lots and lots of pics for us. Tokyo Disney looks so cool :thumbsup2

Holy Hannah! What BIG news! I'm so excited for you. The thoughts in your head must be racing at a mile a minute! I will likely never be able to go there so I can't wait to see and hear what you guys thought... even if you go on only 3 rides. :upsidedow I can't wait!!! :yay:

What an amazing surprise!! thats is going to be awesome...that is one of my top trips! Congrats! I am sure you still will have an amazing time...can't wait to read all about it when you get back :thumbsup2

Carrie! How exciting, you lucky girl! Really happy for you both and looking forward to the TR! :) I am also looking forward to you next installment for this TR but I can wait! Maybe~!

Normally I'm just a lurker, but the thought of Tokyo Disney is enough to make me post because Tokyo DisneySea is amazing! It's one of my favorite Disney parks. Good luck with the crowds. I was at Tokyo Disneyland on a Saturday once, and it was insane! Despite that, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, because, seriously? Those two parks are just awesome. The theming at Tokyo DisneySea is impeccable, and the park is just gorgeous. Can't wait to hear about it! :goodvibes

I am so happy for you (and green with envy:lmao:)--that is fantastic!!!! I hope you have a great time and I can't wait to read the TR and live vicariously through you.:goodvibes

I am so excited for you! What an awesome opportunity. I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience regardless of how many rides you actually get on to.

Quick story: MY Dh is in the military and had orders for Korea when we were first married. I joined him a few months later. This was my first time overseas and I was so nervous about finding him at the airport. Not a problem! As I left the customs area, I easily spotted my 6'2" Dh standing behind a crowd of 100 or so shorter-than-average Koreans. Even at 5'8" I was several inches taller than the majority of people.

Have fun!!
