A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

I'm sorry! I dinnit want anyone to feel jealous! :sad1: I will try to do an extra-funny trip report to make up for it.... :flower3:

Deal! :thumbsup2 I can't be jealous about it anyways. I'm one of those people that would rather read your TR and fantasize about how great it is then actually go and have it not live up to my expectations (at least that's what I'm telling myself :rotfl:).

So did you sign up? Are you doing the Friday event too? I could not believe the speakers they got :scared1:

I soooooo wish we were going then but I think it might be fun to be on the Podcast boards when y'all are there and us that are left behind can have some fun of our own :rolleyes1

And I'm so happy you got the D23 tix too :woohoo: I read one thread that said it had sold out in 20 seconds :confused3:eek: - crazy! But then others went back 20 - 30 mins later and signed up :headache:

I want lots of random pics of the Cinderella suite - pics of things you wouldn't normally take pics of, like the loo, under the bed? I don't know I'm sure you'll do something zany :thumbsup2

Ooh!! Makes me want to go to Disneyland!! DF and I have never been, gosh darn it!! However, I am secretly plotting a trip to DL and Vegas... ;) The who, what, where, when, why have yet to be determined.... Technically I've been to Vegas before, but I don't think running through an airport attempting to make a conecting flight counts!! :rotfl:

OOh - if it does count, then I think I have been to Denver, Atlanta, and Dallas! :rotfl: I hope your trip works out - that's a good combo!

Ok I have GOT to get back down there, so much has changed since I've been!

I love the Halloween pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed them - more to come! :thumbsup2

YAY a mini trippie for a day at DL! I have never been there so this is so cool to see. Thank you for sharing Carrie! popcorn::

Oh, you have to go! Maybe for your anniversary in 2011 when all of DCA's cool new stuff starts opening... :rolleyes1

\How do they know when I'm going? Do I have to tell them when I purchase? Our week is up in the air right now, so if I have to tell them now I will pick the last possible time that we would go, which would be the second week of December, 2010.

Exactly - you put in your trip dates and the subscription is based on those. :thumbsup2

I love the Halloween decorations at Disneyland-----must get back out there! Hmmmmm next fall??????

Do it! Do it! Do it!

I listened to the podcast this morning...it bites cause of the "curfew" they're putting on the TSM event, which means we can't go because we already have ADRs at the MK and I know with free dining the chances of getting an earlier time are slim to none....maybe next year!

Ooh, I haven't had a chance to listen yet - what curfew? Is that the part where you have to meet at the gates an hour before the 9pm start time? I'm not sure about that, b/c in the actual thread John keeps saying to be there by 9pm. We're certainly not going to be there at 8pm - we'll prolly still be eating dinner too!

Carrie---I just wanted to make sure I sent you a link to my dining review of bluezoo at the "Swolphin."

I've got to say, this is like a must-do for any time we go back now. I don't know if it was so great because we were STARVING, or because it's really just that great, but regardless, we're going back in December. :thumbsup2

Here is the link. Scallops + short rib + cauliflower puree = heaven.

Thanks for that! I am working thru your trippie now - I can't believe I'm gone to Disneyland for one day and you're practically done with your TR already! And I'm so glad you liked bluezoo.... :goodvibes

Deal! :thumbsup2 I can't be jealous about it anyways. I'm one of those people that would rather read your TR and fantasize about how great it is then actually go and have it not live up to my expectations (at least that's what I'm telling myself :rotfl:).

I'm like that too sometimes! :teeth:

So did you sign up? Are you doing the Friday event too? I could not believe the speakers they got :scared1:

Yes! I bought tix on my iPhone, sitting in the lobby of the Grand Californian. We aren't going to any of the other events - we've already had to change our plans around enough for D23. I wish these groups would let us uber-planners know what's going on sooner! :sad2:

I want lots of random pics of the Cinderella suite - pics of things you wouldn't normally take pics of, like the loo, under the bed? I don't know I'm sure you'll do something zany :thumbsup2

TOTALLY! In fact, we're bummed Nathan & Jensey won't be there because we wanted to do a gag shot of us in reference to the pooping Brazilians/Pin Sharks/Whomever who were featured so prominently in our anniversary trip report... :rotfl:

OK, do-over! Here's what we saw when we arrived at Disneyland and waited for the tram from the Mickey & Friends parking structure:

It looks like the first thing we did was ride "Ghost Galaxy" Space Mountain (and grab FastPasses, mais oui!).

New Disneyland Gallery... it's styled to look like a made-over bank cuz, well, it's in the former Bank of Main Street! It is cool, but not as cool as the one in Walt's New Orleans' Square apartment was... :(

The gallery connects to the Opera House, where they are restoring the Lincoln show right now.

They have some art on display there right now, including photos of Walt's apartment over the firehouse and the new Dream Suite that replaced the old Disneyland Gallery. I made DH take pix - let's all pretend we were actually there!

Nathan & Jensey took some amazing pix of this model last year on their Disneyland honeymoon:

They also had a larger model of Sleeping Beauty Castle

This was interesting... it is purported to be "the actual bench" that Walt sat on at the merry-go-round in Griffith Park and dreamed up Disneyland:

DSC05497.jpg

However, two weeks earlier, we saw what is *also* purported to be the actual bench, etc., etc. at the actual merry-go-round at actual Griffith Park!

photo-47.jpg

The CM we queried about this claimed that the bench had just been shipped from Griffith Park to Disneyland that week and was the same one.... I gotta send DH over to the park with a camera and see if he can verify this!

We stopped in at the former temporary home of the Gallery on Main Street, where they sell the Olszewski light boxes that DH loves:

We just read the sign on this tree a few days ago - it is a Halloween Tree, dreamed up by Ray Bradbury, who thinks that Halloween should have trees the way Christmas does. It looks sooooo cool at night!

The new Halloween fireworks are pretty dang cool! I thought the music was cheesy (I'd rather hear the original songs, not some "hipster" cover), but I loved the balloon with projections of Jack Skellington and various other villains, and Zero flying around, and the TONS of fireworks - few of which you will see here cuz DH wanted to enjoy the show instead of trying to take pix. He got some more Wednesday night - I'll see if I can get some to post here.

amazing just amazing pics. Why does DL look so much better than WDW?

You really challenge me to look at things more now.

Great pictures of DL. Makes me want to be there! I'll make it back one day.

Hey Carrie! I've been away with work and just getting back and up to date with your TR!

So, so jealous (in a good way!;)) about all of your Christmas Trip line-up. Can't wait for you to tell us all about it!:)

Fantastic photos of DL! Making me realize how much I missed during my short visit there! Can't wait to get back with the kids.

Hmmm....that certainly is interesting about the bench! If they did in fact ship it from Griffith Park, it sure looks like they did a paint job on it! Perhaps they were trying to restore it more to an "original" look as the lacquered and shiny green paint job on the one we saw was clearly not the original!

I would say a DSI (Disney Scene Investigation in Mongello-speak) is clearly in order next time you & Patrick are in the GP neighbourhood. Be sure to update us!;)

Carrie love all those pics of DL decorated for Halloween especially the NBC ones! That is DF's favorite movie and is dying to get to DL to see it at Halloween. Hoepfully some day soon.

Hmm that is interesting about the bench. It will be interesting to find out if it is the real one of not.

I have a few questions about Disneyland. How many days do you recommend for seeing it for the first time? I know that we will never be able to see it all, but would like to see a good bit. Also, what is the weather like in June and July? Is it as hot as it is in Florida? We just got back from WDW 5 days ago and decided as a family that we would like to go some place different next time( I think it is the Disney Depression talking because I'm starting to regret that decision). So DH and the kids want to do Disneyland. Thanks for helping me out.

I wonder if they have any D23 special event in July at WDW. If so, I'm signing up now lol

I also love the light boxes.

Oh I got to check you tube for the new fireworks.

Hey Carrie,
I love all the pictures! Since I spent most of my childhood in S Ca it made me just a tiny bit homesick. But I live in FL now so not too homesick:rotfl:
I do miss the Matterhorn, Mr. Toad's Wildride, and the Alice in Wonderland ride. The BB is my fav resturant and I always loved how the POTC ride went through it. One time we had a group of kids throw us bread rolls, it was too funny.
I had to tell you this, I thought you would apperciate it. We had dinner at the Hoop D Doo Revue last Friday and went over the the CR afterwards to watch Hallowishes. My 2 younger girls watched a bride walk into the bathroom by the Wave. They looked at eachother, then at me and said "we have to go to the bathroom." They ran into the bathroom and came back out, "oh mom! you have to go in there! She is so pretty, her dress is beautiful."
Well I didn't go in, but it did bring tears to my eyes thinking how they get to be Disney Bride stalkers at such a young age.:rotfl2: I tried to go into Lurkyloo stealth mode and take a pic with my iPhone, but I didn't get a very good one. It's so hard to be sneaky and take a pic. Next time, if I am brave, I should just ask if we can take a pic with the girls and the bride(is that disrepectful to the bride?) Oooh maybe we can start a little album of Disney Brides, ok maybe that's going too far :rotfl:
Hope you are doing well.

Carrie, I LOVE your DL pics! I've always wanted to go, but your pics just push me over the edge! And how cool is that Blue Sky Cellar?!?!?!? WDW SO needs one of those, especially with the major Fantasyland expansion coming up. It would be so cool to see what's on the horizon at Disney World.

In honor of Halloween (and Disney), I thought I would share a pic of my two cuties in their costumes. Hope you don't mind, Carrie! I just love to show them off!
