Why is it not allowed to bring in drinks-alcholic that is-between parks,CityWalk or the boats to the resorts? It's all Universal property? But get a beer at CityWalk and try to go into IOA or Uni and they make you drink it or pour it out??

I can see the parking garage. You will or someone will be driving afterwords. But the rest I just don't get!!:confused3

I don't believe the liquor licenses in Citywalk and the parks are in conjuntion with one another.

Can you walk around CityWalk with a drink? I don't frequent that area much, just jump from US to IOA always. :)

Marquibiri :thumbsup2

Correct, Universal bough 3 liquor licenses. This does not include the on site hotels, as those are operated by Loews. They have one for IOA, one for Citywalk and one for USF. The reason for this is because if something were to happen at IOA, and their liquor license were to be suspended, it does not affect the entire resort, just the one park.

Yes, you can. But they won't even let you on the path to the hotel with a drink in your hand. It cannot leave Citywalk.

So each part of Universal has a diff liquore licence??

Now this makes alot of sence now.

I had a personal experience in Aug of 2009 when at Universal with DH and my 2 sons. We were staying at RPR and happen to be strolling around on a quiet Sunday evening at Citiwalk. I walked up to the bar/kiosk and bought myself a Margarita in a tall blue Citiwalk fancy cup. We headed towards the boats to go back to the resort and I was enjoying my drink....captain asked if it was alcohol and I said yes at which time he told me I couldn't take it on the boat. Ok...let's walk since I didn't want to dump it. We headed to the path and the female security guard (who was a bit nasty) told me that I couldn't take it any further...either drink it or dump it. I tried to drink as much of it as I could as fast as I could so I wasn't holding up my family. DH and I discussed it the entire walk to the hotel and figured they don't want drunks walking along the path since it is a family atmosphere plus maybe the waterway might have something to do with it also. Needless to say, if I had known I would have bought a smaller drink! LOL :)

Different areas have different liquor licenses. It's the same at Disney. Just the way Florida law is set up.

wonder if orlando has open bottle laws that might come into play on the walkways (i.e. prohibiting holding an open beverage X amount of feet from actual vendor):confused3

probably more out there but only las vegas comes to mind giving pedestrians green light to openly walk public areas with a drink on the strip

I have bought a beer at bula bar many times and walk the path to citywalk,
the security guard at the end would say finish it before entering city walk.

I also have had my own(store bought) beer with no problems walking the paths or at the swimming pool. Ofcourse this was just 1 beer , I am sure they
would not allow a cooler at the pool .

Savannah, GA allows you to walk around and drink - hence our very popular St. Pats party. There are some very specific rules but out-of-towners always seem to be surprised that you can get a to-go cup at the bar.

i am, long as they don't drink & drive;). police here often give DUIs for walking intoxicated (typically involves drunks, who have long had their keys taken away, walking into traffic on way home from bars). Sounds funny but it's dangerous for all involved.

it's so nice to be onsite @ Universal & have citiwalk where nobody has to be the designated driver:goodvibes
