A Trip of Delicious Dining and Drinking Delights - September TR - food update 10/28

I love Spaceship Earth! It's definitely an Epcot must-do for us. Haha, Beverly does have a way of sneaking up on you with its awfulness.

:rotfl: Bag check lines are so hit or miss. Either they're just like a quick check and go or I feel like I'm back at the airport all over again!

I have the same problem with all of the rides with information on them in Disney, even like the safari spiel. Like it's all interesting as I hear it and I'm like oh I'll definitely remember that aaanddd then I get home and I'm just like oh well... I know they said something. :rotfl2:

Following along. I love Living with the Land! It's so fun to see all the different ways they are growing things.

I love the look of AoA, and I'm making a point to make sure we get over there to check it out in January.

There is no such thing as too many chocolate chips in chocolate chip pancakes. :lmao:

Hahaha, I'm glad you made your peace with cilantro. It really is amazing with Mexican food.

Oh Beverly, no Disney fan could ever name their baby Beverly now, haha.

Yeah, that's what I think too, I learned something, I'm going to share my knowledge, they said that...... uh.... nevermind.

Following along. I love Living with the Land! It's so fun to see all the different ways they are growing things.

Glad someone else likes it too. And it's always been a walk-on for me!

If you're staying at Pop it's easy to check it out. Also, it's a good resort to transfer at if you're taking to the bus to DTD from HS or Epcot because it's close-ish.

That's what I thought about the chips! Boys, right? Yay, cilantro! The only food I think I still don't like is green olives... I'm really not that picky at all.

Update coming right up!

It was time for our FP+ for Test Track! Let me see, by the times on my photos, we arrived at Test Track just after 11 (the time on my camera was off, ugh, but my phone was right, so I can kind of piece it together!)

IMG_1490.jpg

We used our MBs which was AWESOME, was better than paper FPs (as long as you're on time!)

SIDE NOTE: R had a really great idea! Every morning he'd bring up our day's FP+s on his phone app, then take a screen copy. Then he'd use that screen copy as his background/wallpaper on his phone, so when he turned his phone on, he saw our list of FP+s right away! Genius. Anyway, he kept us on schedule.

We still had to wait a bit:

IMG_1491.jpg

I kind of miss the old queue, where I was the same height/size as a 16 year old, haha.

Waiting to enter the design area:

IMG_1492.jpg

I figured I'd better let DH do the designing because it's something he'd like!

IMG_1493.jpg

He created this hideous monstrosity

IMG_1496.jpg

Then we left the design room and waited a bit more. Not the best pic of me, but I really liked this textured wallpaper!

IMG_1497.jpg

And waited a bit more... you can see one half of the matching shirts here! They're not identical, but they are both Toronto Blue Jays!

IMG_1499.jpg

This was 15 minutes after we entered.

And then we rode! Whee! I really like the outside part, but otherwise it's kind of meh, I almost feel like I like the old one better? I'm weird though.

IMG_1500.jpg

DH is almost maybe is smiling here? I actually think it's more of a grimace though, haha.

And then there was the dang games room again! DH made a commercial.

IMG_1501.jpg

Then played some slot cars.

IMG_1502.jpg

IMG_1503.jpg

Then the three of them looked at cars for a bit, by the time we left it was 20 minutes later. I was getting hungry! I thought I might never eat again! Anyway, we all decided we wanted a snack, and what better place to head to than World Showcase *squeal*

Yeah, we only went on three rides in FW, which is kind of pathetic, but DH and I do come back later! None of us care about Soarin', as we don't feel it's special enough to wait for, and we often find the FP wait is kind of long. We also have it at Disneyland, which we've all been to recently, so we didn't miss it much.

Walking...

IMG_1504.jpg

This store definitely sucked us in later in the day due to the strong AC!

IMG_1505.jpg

I liked the top of this wall and the landscaping, great themeing.

IMG_1509.jpg

And we headed inside!

IMG_1510.jpg

Ahh, so relaxing and cool in here. Except for the creepy dancing parrots in that front display, my pic was too blurry though :(

Our destination!

IMG_1512.jpg

DH got the Cava house Margarita, and I got the cucumber. Last time we were in WDW, this wasn't here (I don't think), so it was definitely on my 'must-do' list.

IMG_1513.jpg

These were sooooooooooo good. Mine was incredibly refreshing. My only complaint was the spicy rim, I'd prefer regular marg salt. They were a really good value I thought, even if they were expensive, they were top quality and not too weak.

We also got chips and salsa

IMG_1513.jpg

These were a huge portion! The chips were really great, warm and salty. The salsa was a bit different, I thought it was just okay, it was quite smoky tasting. I tried to talk DH into the guacamole, but he denies liking avocado, even though it's definitely growing on him, haha. Me, cilantro, him, avocado, we're a mess!

I really like the marg glasses, they were plastic, but nice quality, good to carry around while taking random pics...

IMG_1515.jpg

Love these, I almost bought the big-mouth fish for a soap dish, but wasn't sure it'd hold up very well with everyday use.

IMG_1516.jpg

This guy was making what I think was a shot glass. It was really cool, but I didn't see anything like it for sale.

IMG_1517.jpg

When I finished my drink, we went on the gran fiesta tour. I said 'hola' to the ride operator, and then he asked 'como estas?' and I panicked and giggled and said 'good' haha. High school Spanish only gets you so far.

IMG_1518.jpg

Hi Donald.

IMG_1519.jpg

Mexico Donald was my favourite character interaction last trip... this time the line was really long though. Too bad.

More painted animales

IMG_1520.jpg

Such a lovely trip to Mexico! I think this is my favourite pavillion. I love all the cute shopping items, and the Tequila Cave and the cool, relaxing interior, and it has a decent ride too. Also, it has one of the prettiest restrooms, hahaha. I definitely feel like I can spend the most time here, and their CS outside is good too! We came here again later in the week, so there will be more about Mexico soon!

Next update, a few more countries to visit before I melt(down) and we take a break by the pool.

I totally forgot to talk about how on the first night we went to Basin! I bought some mini bath bombs with the intention of soaking our feet after our long days, but by the time we had our nightly drink we were too tired to sit and soak, haha, and our feet weren't too sore anyway. I still haven't used them since I don't really take baths.

BUT, I did buy a bar of soap because it smelled soooo amazing, the pumpkin one! We're using it right now and I love it! Smells like baked good every time I wash my hands :goodvibes

And one more thing...

THANK YOU to everyone who's reading, and especially those who are commenting! I was about to give up, but as long as I have more than one commenter I will continue. I set my expectations low, haha.

Thank you!!! I really appreciate it. I love revisiting my trip by writing a trip report, but it is more fun when I can talk about it with others.

:cheer2:

I'm here!!
Gonna try to remember everything...lol

Glad you guys have the chance to take the ferry down and then fly, that must save SO much money on flights! I wish I was close enough to somewhere to do that lol.

Yay Pop! It's such a "home" resort for me, I get there, and I'm good, I know I belong there lol.

WPE is so tasty, I managed to grab some at the airport on the way to Disney so i got my fix there!

Lovely first couple of days down there, looks like you guys really were having a lot of fun!!

Yes! It is much cheaper driving to Seattle, especially when there's four people. Flights from SEA were $265 round trip!!! From home they'd be around $600 I think, and from Vancouver about $500. It's a hassle to go down there, but the savings are worth it. We only needed the night before in a hotel too, not the night on the way home.

I totally agree that Pop feels like home to me too! Even on my first trip it did. I like that it's not super huge, at least it doesn't feel like it in the 50s or 60s sections.

Glad you got some WPE somewhere at least!

Thanks for reading and commenting :D

I'm definitely still here! I actually prefer the new TT, but I think I'm actually in the minority. The only thing I didn't like was that we NEVER saw our car on the track-- but I'll discuss that in my PTR.
I've never been to La Cava, but I LOVE a good margarita! I had one at the Mexico booth at F&W last year and it was amaaaazing.

That's a really great idea for keeping track of the FP+ times!! The MDE app should have a setting to send you push notifications to remind you!

I like the designing your own car part of new TT but I wish they had done more with the actual ride.

I agree about Soarin'. I just don't get all the hype about it and you do still wait a good bit with FP!

The Mexico Pavillion might be my favorite. It's just so pretty in there (plus I love the AC :rotfl2:)!

AH I'm so sad we didn't go to Basin when we were in DTD! I totally forgot about it and everyone seems to love it so much!

Please don't give up! I'm loving reading about your trip! I may not always make it to comment quickly but I'm definitely reading and loving it! :goodvibes

I know you are! :flower3:

Ooh, definitely try La Cava next time. If you go in the early afternoon it shouldn't even be too busy! Unfortunately we didn't make it back again on this trip. We both share a love of margaritas, yay!

The car design part really does make the wait seem shorter, which is nice.

I'm pretty sure that Mexico is my favourite, but I'll see if I change my mind as I keep writing about the other countries, haha. And they do have amazing AC! So easy to please.

Basin is really nice, but quite pricey!

Thankssss! :flower3:

So after Mexico, the four of us headed off around WS.

I really like the buildings and wrought iron here

IMG_1521.jpg

This was our plan, more or less!

IMG_1522.jpg

DH almost bought this shirt... and I really liked one inside Mexico with the Dia de los Muertos theme (I thought I took a picture of it, but I guess not? This seems to be a recurring theme, haha), but we skipped them. Don't worry, shirts were bought at a latter date!

Ai, ai, ai, ai...

IMG_1523.jpg

Home of the Vikings!

IMG_1524.jpg

and grass roofs... we have a place about 2 hours from here that's sort of a market with grass and GOATS on the roof, it's cute.

IMG_1525.jpg

So, we got a beer to split! DH decided on the souvenir glass... which he forgot on the boat later... what a drunk! j/k!

IMG_1526.jpg

We wandered around Norway with our beer... chugging it back so we could go on Maelstroooooom!

Love the carving around this door

IMG_1528.jpg

These are great cookies to have with tea, I didn't know they were from Norway though! I can buy them at home too.

IMG_1530.jpg

Good ol Trolly... there was no nose picking or butt slapping this time, haha.

IMG_1531.jpg

We stopped to smell klacey's Laila! It was really nice! I like that it's more like essential oils than harsh chemicals. DH also really liked the men's cologne.

IMG_1532.jpg

We were done our tour, so we popped a squat on a teensy strip of shade to finish our beer and chill out a minute.

These seem like Norwegian flowers, don't they?

IMG_1527.jpg

IMG_1534.jpg

My happy DH!

IMG_1535.jpg

Took a pic of this guys shirt and matching shoes, it says 'running sucks'. I agree!

IMG_1536.jpg

Is this supposed to look like a pretzel with a crown?

IMG_1537.jpg

DH couldn't have a completely work-free trip, he was checking out the roofs and admiring their snow breaks.

IMG_1538.jpg

And then it was creepy child time

IMG_1540.jpg

Can't miss this lovable, confusing ride. I'm not sure if this leaves anyone saying "Wow, I can't wait to travel to Norway!" But, the movie wasn't being shown, so we would never really know!

At this point we split up. We had grabbed some test track FPs earlier and they were coming up, but DH and I decided we'd barely got a taste of WS, and wanted to keep going instead of going all the way back to TT. We were thinking we had tons of stamina and were going to go all day!

So we headed off to China! And we were in search of a bathroom. Dang beer.

IMG_1541.jpg

Everybody's favourite bear, the panda! After Yogi. And koalas. And Duffy.

IMG_1542.jpg

We stopped to play with the tiny animals

IMG_1543.jpg

And selfie with my buddy Bhudda. Consider my sweaty face as foreshadowing...

IMG_1544.jpg

I love these puppets too

IMG_1545.jpg

DH put on a small show, kids gathered around while he regaled them with stories of... no, nevermind.

IMG_1546.jpg

... continued in next post!

Oh no, I just deleted everythinggggg. Trying again. I will blame photobucket for being annoying.

This is pretty convincing!

IMG_1547.jpg

Love the gardens, paths and ponds here

IMG_1548.jpg

We found a bathroom, the worst one in the world showcase! Ugh.

Anyway, we passed this guy and stopped to watch for a minute. So talented! I am not artistic at all, other than crochet, if that counts, so I'm always amazed by what others can do.

IMG_1549.jpg

We skipped a drink in China, but we obviously grabbed another beer in Germany, but not before we wandered around a bit.

Get your generic German souvenir here! Do people even really use keychains anymore now that so many cars have bulky fobs?

IMG_1551.jpg

This reminds me of danimaroo's friends!

IMG_1552.jpg

Extremely unattractive photo, that I almost didn't post, but what's a trip report without complete honesty?

IMG_1556.jpg

And beer time!

IMG_1553.jpg

IMG_1550.jpg

We got the Radeberger Pilsner here (and Carlsberg in Norway, since I didn't mention it) and this one was very good! Better than the boring Carlsberg at least, although we did reuse our Norway mug, smart!

And what goes best with beer? Caramel of course! So says Dis-Germany at least. Or Karamel I suppose.

IMG_1557.jpg

The guy working here was quite cute, teehee.

IMG_1558.jpg

IMG_1559.jpg

Yay! The caramel bar was really good! Sweet and gooey caramel with crumbly pastry and nuts. It was MESSY though. We sat on a sliver of shade on this bench and chowed down, but didn't stay too long, it was HOT.

We decided to keep on keepin' on. To Italia!

IMG_1561.jpg

It was too hot for wine, but we talked about coming back here for a wine flight later on... we didn't. Boo.

We popped into the store on the left side of the plaza, and it was really busy! Aside from the cute vespa things, it was just perfume and purses, so we exited into the radiating heat of the plaza.

IMG_1562.jpg

Ugh, too hot to even recognize the beauty of the square!

It felt like all there was in Italy was restaurants and sun reflecting buildings. I was starting to get a little testy, but agreed to continue because Jason wanted to.

Note the lack of photo taking due to increase brow wiping.

To 'merica!

We stood in front of the doors to American Adventure and watched the Fife and Drum band.

IMG_1563.jpg

IMG_1564.jpg

and then my extremely polite whining won. It was HOT. Italy and America were boring. I didn't want to drink anymore. I wanted the pool. So we hopped on the boat across the lagoon, and walked the eighteen or so miles back to the bus stop.

It turns out my body was just smarter than either of us, because the wind was picking up and the clouds were rolling in!

20130906_151025.jpg

FYI, it was 3:10, so I was doing pretty good, haha. I might have also been hungry, since only a smoothie, chip and salsa, caramel bar and booze has been consumed, but it was too hot to be hungry, haha.

Anyway, it was unfortunately too stormy to go to the pool, so we hung out in the room and napped and watched cartoons.

20130906_173011.jpg

At about 5:30 I was getting bored, so ventured out to the food court for some beverages, then came back and we started to get ready, although we hadn't quite decided what for. R&K waited a really long time for the bus after their ride on TT, so they actually ended up back at Pop way later than us, and weren't ready to do anything yet.

By 6 the weather still hadn't let up, but we didn't want to be stuck inside all night, so we grabbed an umbrella and headed to the bus stop for Epcot!

Rainy night at Epcot coming up next time!

I love that shirt with all the food. It makes me crack up, and yet it's so true!

We have a place a few hours away from us with grass on the roof and goats too. LOL

Love the beer goggles. TR's are exactly the place for complete honesty. I don't care how unflattering my pictures are. :rotfl2:

Yes! I love that Disney gets what we all love about it and puts it on a shirt!

So funny! Everyone has goats on a roof! I'm going to tell all the tourists that now haha

Thanks :-) it's about the experience and not how good I look! No duck face from me lol.

Yay! I love Laila. This trip, when I bought my new bottle, I had forgotten what size I usually get and ended up with the big bottle. Turns out I usually get the 1.7 oz one. Whoops! Good thing I like it because it'll take me forever to go through!
I am also not a huge fan of Italy. I also think it's silly there's two TS restaurants there and not a CS option. A pizza window (with slices, not Disney mini-pizzas) would be so smart. I know Japan has two TS, too, but at least they also have Katsura Grill!
It was so ridiculously hot this September. Every. Single. Day. Augh! Glad you managed to make it out before the rains rolled in! Can't wait to hear about your rainy night!!

Great updates!! You sure spend a lot more time in the pavilions that I ever do lol!! I always mean to but get distracted with either lunch reservations, characters, or just get bored lol!

Yeah we do! We go back that night and for awhile on our last day. It's DH's favourite part, so I try to appease him sometimes :) It also makes the trip a bit slower and more relaxing which is nice when it's just a short trip.

Update coming right up!
