Next week, I am going down to DFW to visit my sister and brother-in-law. While we will be spending plenty of time on the golf course during my stay, I am hoping to take some time to spend some time with my DSLR. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to see and/or photograph while I am down there? I will be there for a short 3 days.

Here's a few good places (nature):

The Dallas Arboretum and White Rock Lake

Spring Creek Forest

If you want some *western* flair (howdy!), spend some time at the Forth Worth Stockyards or downtown Grapevine. Hey, if you time it right in the Stockyards you can watch the bull parade (six or so bulls marched down the main street. :rotfl2:). Then, hop on over to Los Vaqueros restaurant for supper.

ahem....a good number of us prefer to call it ft. worth-dallas :thumbsup2

and in that theme, i highly recommend ft. worth over dallas. in addition to the stockyards, check out the ft. worth water gardens (some of the sci-fi classic "the blade runner" was filmed there).

Thanks for the suggestions. My sister and B-I-L live in Keller, so our choices will be based on that location. The FW Stockyards look like a fun place to visit, either this trip or some future trip.

I will be taking some photos while enjoying my first golfing trip in Texas. Does anyone have any suggestions for courses to visit that are both enjoyable to golf, and offer some nice landscape shots?

And some of us in the 'burbs just leave out the DFW part and call it the Metroplex!

Since you will be in Keller, FW will definitely be closer and the Stockyards would be a good option. I would also recommend Sundance Square in downtown FW as well as the FW Zoo and the area around TCU. If you venture to downtown Dallas, the Uptown area is pretty cool with the museum and cultural district in that area as well.

I'm not a golfer, but near me there is the private 18-hole TPC at Craig Ranch which is really nice and was designed by Tom Weiskopf and D.A. Weibring. Unfortunately, it might be a bit too far to drive from Keller though. (~40 or so miles)

Hope you have a great trip.

You'll be just down the road a bit from me!

The Ft Worth Botanic Garden ought to be wonderful right now! Definitely worth a trip. Williams Square in Las Colinas (fairly near the DFW airport, about 40 mins from Keller) has the bronze mustang statues that are pretty cool. There is a really nice park in Keller called Bear Creek park that you might find something to shoot. Your sister will probably know where that is. It's a big park. And of course there's the Ft Worth Zoo.

You'll be just about 5 miles north of me! I highly second the recommendation on the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. . .there are several different gardens you can photograph (my favorite is the Japanese Gardens) and they are just stunning. Here is the website listing all the gardens if you are interested: Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

The Williams Square mustangs in Las Colinas are great, especially at night! again, here is the website to check them out: Las Colinas Mustangs

Also near the Fort Worth zoo is Trinity Park, right on the Trinity River - it makes for some pretty shots and don't forget to check out the Forest Park train. The website is here - $3.00 for a 40 minute ride and if you like the old truss railroad bridges like I do, you'll have some great chances to photograph them along the train route!

Hope this helps! :teeth:
