A Tribute to my Karen Belle68 xx

Gary,
that was a beautiful and moving tribute to your wife. I hope that the experiences you, her and your daughter shared at WDW will bring you some comfort at this difficult time.
I wish you all the best with bringing up your daughter and I hope that in the future, like you say, you can both return to Disney and remember the wonderful times you had there with Karen.
Please keep us updated on how you are both going.
Lots of love to you both,
Catherine

Gary, i am sat here with tears falling down my face reading your beautiful tribute to Karen and all the replies that everyone has put on here. Like many others have said there is a great support network on here and any time you need a friend or someone to talk to you can count on this DIS gang! My thoughts and prayers are with you and Alice! Your own gaurdian angel is watching over you both:hug:

Gary,

Can I just say what a wonderful and heartfelt tribute to your wife.

I was really moved when I read it this morning and I have thought about you and your daughter a lot since I heard Karen had passed away.

I want to wish you and your daughter all the very best for the future.

Gary

As you know you have a difficult path ahead but you can come on these boards and let your feelings out if you wish.

As previously said there are many members on this community who are single parents and many who have special needs children. Please do not feel you are alone.

I hope you will be able to get the support you need both emotionally and physically during the next few months.

Welcome to the DIS and we all look forward to reading your posts.

Love and hugs to you and Alice

Susan

Our thoughts remain with you during these difficult times.

some people say that forums are a waste of time and just pixels on a screen ...

when you're having your highest high's or down at your lowest lows, Dis can be a place to share and talk with people who care. Its not just pixels, its a community.

hi Gary and Alice :wave2:

Dear Gary,
You've taken a big, brave step, writing this lovely tribute to Karen. Some people try to keep their pain in check by not talking about their loved ones, though I don't think that really works for long. You've found people here who are willing to listen anytime you want to talk about Karen or Alice or anything. I hope you find comfort here on the DIS and in planning your next trip to Walt Disney World. My husband Scott loved Disney and we went to Disneyland and Walt Disney World every year. When he died in 2001 I decided to continue the trips although at first I thought I could never go without him. But I did, usually with friends and once on my own. These trips have been joyous blendings of old memories and new ones. A lot of people visit cemetaries and decorate graves to remember loved ones. I walk down Main Street, smiling and remembering. You will be able to do that, too.

I wish you peaceful rest.

Welcome Gary

The DISboards are great and were there for my daughter, and myself too, earlier in the year when my DH was ill and, sadly, died :disrocks:

What an amazing forum this is! the kind words you are all saying are very touching and makes me feel as though i have lots of friends now even though i am so alone in my life! forums are a great way of expressing your thoughts! and Susan thats a special way of remembering your loved one! i cannot imagine how i'm gonna feel when walk up Main Street! i just know it will be a very special moment in my life.

I'm so sorry Alison, it must affect you reading all of this!

Phil was ill for a very long time (brain tumour) and, in the end, although it was sad to lose him, his death was a kind of blessing

7 months down the line we're still here, plodding along, planning our next trip to WDW at Easter (tho we should, in theory, be being much more frugal..........;) )

Have to admit that Main Street was rather 'blurry' when we walked down it only a month after he'd died on a trip that had been planned 'way back'............:flower3:

Karen had a brain tumour as well, even though she was ill for a while it still came as a shock to me and still is! that must have been very difficult for you to continue with your holiday so soon after his death! it just proves life is too short youve got to enjoy it and you are doing the right thing! :flower3:

The planning kept us busy :)

Yes, it was difficult but I feel we made the right decision to go ahead :)

It's amazing where we all find the strength when there are kids involved ;)
