We are getting ready to cruise in about 3 weeks and have started to really discuss the trip and certain rules my DS,10, will have to follow on this, our 3rd DCL trip. Usually he wants to know why I make a certain rule, he has to analyze everything. (Great kid just wants to know everything.) When I am on these boards he sometimes stands behind me and also reads the postings and is amazed at what he reads some of the children do on board. Now as I am setting down rules he is truly understanding of why he can't do certain things or go certain places on his own and is making it really easy for me. For those of you who have children who analyze and question things, this might be a great way to help them understand the importance of them following your rules. This might not be appropriate for children of all ages though.

I'm awarding you a "Considerate Cruiser" Award!! Not only will you enjoy your cruise more knowing that your son is safe and happy (isn't that what rules accomplish?), but so will your fellow cruisers!

Heres a thread with one parents "contract" with the kids they were going with (and the ensuing "debate"). If my memory serves me correctly there were a lot of good ideas bouncing around on this thread.
