From the bus, here's our Pop sign.

We got through the gates quickly and into the park.

I like the attraction and ride posters as you go through the tunnels.

IMG_0277.jpg

We spot our first two characters for Brooklynn to see.

IMG_0279.jpg

It looks like she is thinking, "My, what a big nose you have!" (But that's the wrong story.)

IMG_0280.jpg

Brooklynn became at expert at asking, "Sign da book?"
IMG_0281.jpg

This happens to be my favorite giant insect in the world.
(Every almost 51 year old does have a favorite giant insect, right? Tell me I'm not crazy!)

IMG_0282.jpg

"Kick-et, sign da book?" And he did.

IMG_0283.jpg

Look at Brooklynn's face as she is really trying to figure this guy out.

IMG_0286.jpg

"My, what big eyes you have!" (Still the wrong story.)

And by all means, if an insect can 'sign da book', a gigantic goofy talking canine can play 'ride a little horsie'. These things can really happen in Disney World!

IMG_0292.jpg

As Main Street was decorated in orange and gold for Halloween and red and green at Christmas, it was red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July.

IMG_0293.jpg

It wasn't as lavishly decorated, but just many nice banners and flags. It had that quaint small town 4th of July celebration feeling.

IMG_0300.jpg

First glimpses of the castle. Brooklynn kept turning around to say, "Magic Camel!"

So, we're finally in Magic Camel. That'll have to do for now. I have to be at SAM'S early to get many, many waffles and other assorted mass quantities of food items and take them up to the camp for next week. Everyone have a safe, happy, magical day!

You are not crazy everyone should have a favorite insect. It is great to see the classic Disney characters out and about, meeting and greeting.

I think it is great that Brooklynn is not afraid of the characters and is into all things Disney. She is a real cutie-pie.

Have fun at camp next week.

I love your newest update. Brooklynn is such a doll baby. The pics of the Pop sign and MK and great!! Can't wait to be there.

Another great update MeMom. They are helping build the excitement for our trip. In fact, just yesterday I was trying to figure out if one of our flights would be flying over Tennesee so we could wave as we go by. :rotfl:

Great update!

Brooklynn is just too cute :)

The first glimpse of the castle is always so exciting!

""Kick-et, sign da book?" And he did."

That is soooo cute!!! I miss my two being little like that!!! Sniff! Sniff!

I like seeing Magic Kingdom all decorated for the Fourth -- that is one holiday we have never spent at WDW!

OH brooklyn is so sweet...love her baby speech and she is truley blessed beingable to vist the world so many time at such a young age she will have so many found memories to look back on...cant wait to hear more..

mine, too!!! i'm almost 32 and i don't think it's weird at all that we have a favorite giant insect!

"Kick-et, sign da book?" And he did.

this is the cutest thing ever!!!

First glimpses of the castle. Brooklynn kept turning around to say, "Magic Camel!"

isn't the first glimpse of the castle just the best feeling???? :goodvibes

Hi :wave2: Just found your tr and am loving it.

I love all of the photos.

Brooklynn is just the cutest little girl.

Can't wait to read more popcorn::

Welcome to you and all of the other new readers! We are glad you are sharing in the fun with us.

I'm glad you like the pictures. I'm told I take too many, but then they enjoy looking at them all, so I'll just keep snapping away. Next trip, though, I might do some video.

Brooklynn is at a cute age. She's happy most of the time, until she gets tired. She'll mimic anything you say. She loves Disney World! Her face lit up when we got to Pop. It is so fun to watch her, and it's a blessing to watch Jill with her. Watching my own child with her child is just a special, special thing. Brooklynn is a mommy's girl, just like Jill was. Jill is such a good mommy to her, too. Brooklynn often says, "My Mommy hold her," which translates into 'hold me'.

I love to watch her as she interacts with the characters, and they have all been so good with her. They stoop down and play with her dog-ears and give her gentle hugs. I think one of the best ones to date was on this trip - Belle at Epcot. She was so sweet and tender and loving. No one was waiting behind us yet, so she talked to Brooklynn for several minutes. I'll have pictures of that later, because now that is one of my favorite Disney moments.

it cracks me up that you took this picture! you are too funny. :rotfl:

You've come to expect these kinds of pictures, right? I know you'd be disappointed if I didn't take pictures like this!

And don't think I've forgotten about your special bird pictures. I know you are anxious to see them, but be patient. :rotfl:

Ok....I'm just going to 'Ditto' Dawn's post b/c she highlighted the exact same pics I was going to talk about :thumbsup2

"Kick-et, sign da book?" And he did.
That is AWESOME!!!!!

Great minds think alike!!

What great pictures of POP! We almost stayed there last year but opted to upgrade instead. Maybe we should try this one out next time. Hope the rest of your trip was just as wonderful as the very beginning! Can't wait to see the rest.
~Abby

Disney might not like us convincing people to downgrade, but we like Pop just fine. We liked All Star Music, too. It would be nice to stay in the more expensive places, but my frugality doesn't allow me to see much difference in a value and a moderate, as far as the rooms are concerned. The pools are different, but for now, that's not an issue with us. Brooklynn is happy with a kiddie pool. Maybe when she gets older and there are more grandkids who are begging for a cool slide, we'll upgrade. From what I see, though, I almost would rather just go ahead and pay for a deluxe if I decided to move up. I really like AKL, Poly, and Wilderness Lodge, all three! For now, the values are plenty for what we need.

I will say that the DVC rooms we saw on the tour were beautiful and very tempting! I just can't commit to years of payments right now, though.

Awesome, awesome first stay!! I too feel that way about the moderates (why not just upgrade to deluxe) but I need those days to be long gone...I need to start being the best friend of value hotels!! I really did like Pop so I don't know what my problem is!!

We went this way first.

I like the side angles of the castle.

IMG_0303.jpg

Jill wanted to shop, naturally. You know how she is about her shopping. ;)
I can't remember what she even got, but it was something she had been planning to purchase and wanted to do so right away. She can refresh my memory when she gets on.

IMG_0304.jpg

If these guys were made of real snow, they would have been puddles, because it was h-o-t!

IMG_0305.jpg

Hidden (sort of) Mickey in the shop.

IMG_0307.jpg

IMG_0308.jpg

It lacks a little in the ears, I'm thinking, if it qualifies to be a Mickey.

Haunted Mansion had a very short wait, so we went on that.

IMG_0311.jpg

IMG_0312.jpg

IMG_0313.jpg

This is my least favorite part of the ride, since I'm claustrophobic. Luckily, it doesn't last too long, and I talk myself through it to get to the good part.

IMG_0314.jpg

IMG_0315.jpg

As soo as I got in the Doom Buggy, I called Erica (VandyFan10) and hoped that I could get a signal. I did, but I got her voicemail. I just held the phone up to the speaker for a few minutes, hoping the voicemail was picking up some of the music. She did say later she could hear some of it.

Pictures with no flash. I just snapped along the way, so here's what I came out with.

Back outside.

IMG_0328.jpg

IMG_0329.jpg

At this cart right outside Haunted Mansion, Jill spotted one of the rubber ducks she's collecting for Brookylnn, so we stopped to buy it.

IMG_0330.jpg

Turns out this nice CM was from our neck of the woods - Hohenwald, Tennessee. It's a little spot on the map, so it was neat to meet someone from our area.

IMG_0331.jpg

We thought it was picture worthy. He said he'd retired and gone to work for Disney and LOVED it. He tried to talk me into doing the same, which wouldn't be hard to do if my kids would go down there, too.

We stopped for cups of ice water and a potty break here.

I remember thinking of both snowbell's and Glenda's comments about how hot it had been for them just a couple of weeks before when they were there.
I remember thinking they were right!

IMG_0334.jpg

IMG_0335.jpg

Then it was time to head toward Main Street, where we were supposed to meet Tyler (Pendragon1515). That's coming up in the next round of pictures.

Nothing like pics of the Haunted Mansion (one of my all-time favorite Disney rides) with my morning coffee on a Saturday morning.

The perfect way to start my day -- well, the perfect way to start my day would be riding the Haunted Mansion with my morning coffee, but this is definitely the next best thing!

Great minds think alike!!

::yes:: :cool2:

how cool! this is what i want to do, except i want to play maleficent when i work there. :maleficen

For those who might enjoy more toddler-speak:

I'm on the phone with Brooklynn right now. She's reading me a book about animals. Some of the animals that she has told me about are the doggie, kitty, lionbear (they're on the same page, so they go together) army-dilla, and ottoputh.

She was also trying to put her Patriotic Mickey and her Aladdin figurines in the window, like they were at Pop.

She's a little nut! (Fits in perfectly with our family. :) )

I like the side angles of the castle.

IMG_0303.jpg

That is a great pic.....that's the same side of the castle I had my FIRST ever picture taken!!!

I still have it saved on my VM :goodvibes

That'a great pic!
