A Surprise Christmas, 15th Anniversary, We're taking your MOTHER??? Trip- 3-8Finished

Wow! You did a great job on the cake. Too cute!

We were right there with you in the Soarin crowd on that Sunday. We rode first at rope drop and then got fast passes. Seriously, how did we not meet. :lmao: Yep, for the most part we followed TGM.... not as DHS on Tuesday and man was it crowded there that day!

Looking forward to hearing more.

Congrats on the Saints win!! :goodvibes

Stephanie

Wow great news on your PP CD! Yes, I got a prepaid one too, but I never seem to remember to take photos!!!! But how cool you made a calendar! I bought two mousepads for the Grandparents!!! I love all your photos from Your Epcot day, seems that you got to do plenty all considering! We didn't try the CP... we were on the fence about it. We did hear it from afar, but your photos are lovely! I am sure we'll see it at one point. Can't wait to hear how your Pirate's League goes!!!

It is nice to just watch the fireworks, isn't it? I get caught up in what I am enjoying and forget to take photos, and I am glad it happens that way sometimes... ;)

So nice to just watch with your eyes and not a lens. :-)

Loved your Epcot update! We had thought about doing the CP, but decided to save the money. Now I wish I had gone! Maybe next year...

The Star Wars cake looks great!

Thanks. We were on the DDP so we decided to go for it - even though it took 2 credits. We just ate cheap at a counter service to make up for losing the extra credit it took up.

The cake looks good. Looks like he had a great time.

He did. I have better photos of the party, but wasn't sure about posting other people's children.

What a great Epcot day!! The CP looks AMAZING!!! I cannot wait to do this in Dec.!! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Now tell me how the CP package works--if you are on the DDP, how many TS points does it require?! What a great Star Wars cake!! My DH is a huge Star Wars fan!! :goodvibes

If I remember correctly, it did cost us 2 table service credits. Honestly, I'm not sure if it is worth that, but we enjoyed the show. Thanks for the compliment on the cake. I just had big plans for it and none of them came out. :sad2:

What a game!!!! :yay: WOOOHOOOO! :woohoo: Our small town is celebrating, fireworks, horns even the local police are saying "Who Dat" on the loud horn!! :rotfl2:

By the way, I read your latest update. I love it too :rolleyes1.

Isn't it so funny that everywhere you go, people are celebrating, wearing Saints attire, etc.??!!! I LOVE it! It's really nice to see people come together like that even if it is just for a ball game. Monday, I answered my work phone by saying "Who dat?" :lmao: It is an internal line, so I knew the others would get a kick out of that.

Great day at Epcot! You got to do so much!

I have not had the school bread. So many people talk about it. I guess I'll be trying it out!

Sorry about the cake. It all worked out in the end and it tasted good!

Cool theme!

Yeah, it all worked out. You need to try the school bread for me, K? Have you had a cloud berry horn? I actually rathered that because it wasn't as rich as the schoolbread. Both are yummy though.

Wow! You did a great job on the cake. Too cute!

I really don't know how we didn't "see" each other. We might have and just didn't realize who each other was??? I subscribe to TGM also and he has been pretty good to me. :thumbsup2 We went to DHS Tuesday also but it was just for Fantasmic Dinner Package and then to look at lights but I agree, the crowds were definitely there! We went back Wednesday - much better but still crowded - I guess from Christmas crowds.

My goal is to update tonight. :woohoo:

Today we scheduled a split day. Since our Epcot day was all about Kim Possible and the Candlelight Procession, we decided to come back just for the rides and characters. MIL had decided today would be a good day for her to rest up beings that she had already been to both parks. This was fine by me except that I was slightly perturbed that I had worked to get her in on our ADR later today and she backed out. Doesn't she know how hard it is to secure those and then to make adjustments like adding her???? I even had to change our time to accomodate adding her. All in all, I really didn't mind as it meant that we would be just us four. :)

We started our morning at rope drop and decided to do Test Track 2x's instead of trying to do Soarin' and Test Track. We were only going to be in Epcot until lunch. We got our fast passes and got in the stand by line which wasn't a long wait. By this point we knew where the cameras are in the ride and spent our time in line practicing our poses. When I get my photopass cd in, I'll post them.

IMG_1063.jpg

In between our Test Track rides, we went to the Character Connection which is by far my favorite place to take character pictures. We had a pretty good wait but once you get to the first character, it's all good.

We had time to ride Test Track and then it was time for lunch. Yesterday, I missed lunch at my favorite counter service, the Seasons. Today, I was having Chinese noodles and beef and broccolli - YUMMO!

We left Epcot and returned to Pop for the kids to change into their Pirate costumes. We had a 3pm appointment at the Pirate's League! Because I have taken so long to finish this report and also that I was really bad at journaling this trip, I can't exactly remember if we rode any rides before the appointment. But right before 3pm we were at the Pirate's League ready for my two scallywags to be transformed into Pirates!

Next Post - Pirates League

First they make you spin the wheel and roll the dice to determine your pirate name. DD's was Jeanne Bladecutter and DS's was Jack Sailmonger.

IMG_1076.jpg

IMG_1077.jpg

Then you meet your Pirate who will help you transform. I was really excited that DD had a Disboard celebrity: Pirate Brenna who I think looks like a red-headed Cameron Diaz. Here's some of DD's pics:

Sadly, I can't remember DS's pirates' name. My husband stayed with him. He was really sweet.

After that, they go into a secret room to take pictures. These are on our photopass and are really cute.

Here are our two lil' pirates!
IMG_1114-1.jpg

We were able to get a great spot to watch Capt. Jack's Pirate Tutorial. It was our first time seeing it and very appropriate since the kids were dressed up. They were asked to participate but sadly my little chickens didn't want to. :sad2: It was a cute skit. Here are the pics:

IMG_1121.jpg

IMG_1123.jpg

We didn't have much time before we had ADR's at Liberty Tavern, but we did see one of our favorite characters: Peter Pan! Peter asked DD and DS if they had joined Hook's crew.

IMG_1126.jpg

After the kids convinced him they were only PRETENDING to be pirates, he posed for this picture.

IMG_1128.jpg

We arrived at Liberty Tree Tavern. This was another first for us and we really enjoyed our meal. Turkey, roast, pork, dressing, green beans, salad, and apple cobbler a la mode. MMMMMMM!

After supper, we spent some time shopping. We purchased two ornaments this night. A really cute Tinkerbell holding a jingle bell and a red mickey head ornament that is now my "hidden mickey" on our Christmas tree.

Another reason we came back to MK tonight is for Spectro and Wishes. For the first time, we watched these from Main Street. We got there early and secured a nice spot. We weren't on the curb but behind a family who planned to sit for the parade. We knew it would get crowded, so we sat also so people behind us would be able to see as well. DH went get hot cocoa for us to sip while we waited. It was during this time that we got unwelcome guests. I don't mean to be mean but these people who came and basically surrounded us were so rude. Totally encroaching on our personal space. I had our bags saving a small spot for DH when he returned and they were all over our stuff. When I tried to tell them my DH had stepped out and would be back any minute, all I got was "I don't speak english." So I a sign languaged it again. Ok not really sign language but I think they got the hint that I wanted them to back off even though they only did by 2 inches. Then their teenage daughter came sit so close to me on the other side that I had to tell her more than once to move over so that she wasn't ON me. I mean jeez! legs over mine and everything. I'm glad I had my kids somewhat in front of me so that I could shield them from these people. DH did come back and I made sure I got him to excuse himself and make room. It reallly made for an uncomfortable experience. I've been in crowded parades at Disney and here for Mardi Gras, but I've never been so uncomfortable.

For Wishes, the crowdes were a little better because people moved into the street. After that, we were ready to go.

Tomorrow we would be able to sleep in a little and visit some resorts to see decorations. It was also our Fantasmic night - Yay!!!:woohoo:

GREAT update!! I love your family pics from Character Connection--cute matching shirts!! :goodvibes And the Pirate's League looks really neat!! It looks lkie they go all out--how fun!! Sorry you encountered a rude family--there always seems to be at least 1 every trip, doesn't it?! How frustrating!

Your kids looked so cool after their pirate transformation! My DS would have loved that when he was younger.

I LOVE the Character Connection! I wasn't sure about the black shirts but they were a nice contrast with the very colorful background in there. The Pirates League is GREAT!!! I would recommend it to anyone with small boys especially but it was fun for my DD also.

Thanks!

I'm working on my next update!

This was Tuesday morning and we started our day a little later than the usual rope drop time. Today we were going resort hopping to see the decorations!!! I was really excited to do this as we don't usually schedule in time to see the resorts and more than likely won't be staying the any of the Deluxes any time soon. We have, of course, seen Samantha Brown's tour of the resorts with the Christmas decorations and also the Travel Channel's Christmas special so we were really excited to see these in "real life."

We (including MIL) started the day by driving to AK lodge. We actually passed up the lobby and went to a back smaller lobby where we were able to see some animals and a few decorations. Then we drove back to the front and gawked at the beautifully huge AK Christmas Tree! So beautifully themed! I'm always amazed at the detail that Disney puts into everything! Here are pics of the tree and the lobby and misc. from the resort:

We then drove to the Ticket and Transportation Center with the intention of riding the monorail to the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian. When we walked up, this is what the line for the monorail looked like: :scared1:

/Resorts/IMG_1179.jpg

We decided driving would be a LOT quicker, so we drove to the Contemporary. We have visited the Contemporary before when we dined at Chef Mickey's and I really like the little gift shops they have. I was not very impressed with the decorations but it was nice to see the decorations dedicated to and in the style of (forgive me for not remembering her name) the lady who's artistry was incorporated into It's a Small World. We didn't buy gingerbread here as we were saving that for the Grand Floridian. :thumbsup2 We did get to see the biggest Christmas wreath from both sides and we definitely visited the gift shops. Oh and the bathrooms were very nice as well. ;)

We rode the monorail from the Contemporary to the Grand Floridian. It was my first time seeing this resort up close and personal - not on tv. It is so beautiful and very beautifully decorated. The Gingerbread house is awesome to behold. We saw the demonstration as well as bought quite a many chocolate backed gingerbread shingles. :lovestruc

We rode the monorail back to the Contemporary and drove to Hollywood Studios where we had a 2pm ADR at Mama Melrose for a Fantasmic Dinner package. DH and I ate there on our honeymoon 15 years ago. Back then, you could just come upon a restaurant and decide to eat there and actually get a table. This time we had reservations. It was a very nice meal and we were presented with a Happy Anniversary card and glasses of champagne. It was nice to be there with our little family. I wish we had taken a picture.

Next post: Hollywood Studios: with pictures!

After lunch, we found a nice little spot at the end of the parade route to see the Block Party parade.

We made our way to the Fantasmic Dinner Package entrance. We were there almost an hour early and it was packed. We had no problem getting a seat in our "reserved area." It was the first time we had used a package so also the first time sitting in this area. I enjoyed not having to stand with the masses 2 hours early but I didn't really care to sit in this area. A second Fantasmic had been added tonight and I really thought about going to it as I heard it wouldn't be as crowded, but MIL was with us and she doesn't like to stay out late. In future visits, I'm not sure I will get a package. I always have trouble getting good pictures during Fantasmic and obviously so does my husband. Here are a couple that were ok:

IMG_1317.jpg

We walked over the Osbourne Lights next. We were excited to see these for the first time and I figured if we saw them tonight, we could have more time for rides tomorrow. We LOVE it!!! It was a beautiful not to be missed display and the lights were synced to our favorite holiday music from Transyberian Orchestra. It even "snowed."
You'll notice that my son is blurry in these pictures and that is because he was so excited that he couldn't keep still. He was catching snowflakes - actually trying to EAT the soap-foam stuff!!! It was really fun!

Next update: Full day at DHS - our last day at Disney World...

That's great that you were able to visit the resorts to see the decorations! Aren't the Osborne Lights amazing?! I can't believe tomorrow is your last day!

Denise

Incredible update! LOVE that you got to see several resorts all decorated for Christmas--beautiful!!! And yay for Fantasmic and Osborne Lights!! I cannot wait to see the lights in Dec.!! :goodvibes

Any particular reason the Chinese laundry showed up in your pix;)

I'm doing a resort hop day...I think....your pix make me want to do it for sure.

Great update - we loved Osborne, but skipped Fantasmic - this time!

LOVED the Osborne lights!!! The last day always comes too soon!

You will LOVE them! I wish we could have seen more resorts but just another reason to go back around Christmas time!

Any particular reason the Chinese laundry showed up in your pix;)

I'm doing a resort hop day...I think....your pix make me want to do it for sure.

Haha! I DID think of you when I passed and decided to take a pic! I'm glad you're going resort hopping. It was really cool to see the different resorts.

Great update - we loved Osborne, but skipped Fantasmic - this time!

Thanks for reading. I can't believe I will be writing my last update this weekend!

I thought I would get in an update this weekend but between Mardi Gras and the Superbowl well....

just had to stop in and say hell is a very cold place right now!!!

WHO DAT!!! SAINTS HAVE WON THE SUPERBOWL BABY!!!!!

Well guys, I certainly thought I would have finished this report by now but it seems like life has gotten even crazIER since the superbowl. We've been celebrating the big win with a parade and of course there is MARDI GRAS!!! Let's just say we've had a few extra things to include in our days! :thumbsup2

Our last day at Disney was a trip back to DHS. The day before was just to have dinner and see Fantasmic and the lights. This day was about rides and shows, but mostly shows.

We started the morning at rope drop to get the coveted Toy Story Mania fastpasses and ride. MIL was with us and was a good sport and just going along with us. DH of course went ahead of us (a little faster) to secure fastpasses while we got in line. We met up very close to the same time at the beginning of the line. We were very excited to finally ride TSM as it opened right after our last visit to DisneyWorld ended.

IMG_1360.jpg

IMG_1363.jpg

The queue was great and so was the ride. It was really fun and I understand why it is such a popular ride in a park with not so many family friendly rides. I rode with DS and DMIL this time (yeah 3 across one seat) and DS and I had a blast while MIL watched - she doesn't really participate - I offered.

After TSM, we headed to the Little Mermaid - one of my favorite shows - and then made a b-line for Sorcerer Mickey who we completely didn't know was there last trip!

Image0220.jpg

By this time, it was already time to make it over to our last ADR - Sci-Fi Drive In. This was our first time there and it was very cute! I loved the theming and the food was typical Applebees type food. We let the kids eat in the front seat so they had fun pretending to be driving. Our server even gave them a temporary drivers license. :) The cars can accomodate up to six but it's by twos so one person was going to have to sit by his/herself. MIL insisted that she could sit alone in the backseat. I wanted DH to sit with her but she insisted no. I kinda' felt bad having her sit by herself alone in the back seat but I felt like I needed to sit close to the kids. I wasn't going to depend on her to help them.....flashback to van on ride to Disney.
It was a great meal. I will probably come back on future visits.

IMG_1385.jpg

After our meal, we wanted to make sure we had good seats to see HSM3. DD is a BIG fan. She knows all the words, all the dances, etc. We've had 2 HSM bdays and she watches the dvds every chance she gets. We went about 20 minutes early and sat right behind the line - center. We had passed earlier and thought about stopping but it was so crowded, she wouldn't have seen much. We sat anxiously waiting and were not disappointed. Disney has great talent. DD was even asked to go up to dance, but again...she said no, she'd rather watch. :sad2: I wish she'd learn to live a little. DS and I were dancing and singing along but if DD wasn't going to go up, little brother wouldn't go either.

IMG_1391.jpg

IMG_1392.jpg

Since DD had the chance to see her favorite, we now had to make it to see DS's favorite (although I have to say seeing HSM was a BIG deal for him too). We made our way to the back to see Star Wars. I would have loved for him to be in the Jedi Training but he said NO WAY! I didn't push because I knew that Darth Vader would come out and DS would have RAN in the opposite direction! :lmao: So we waited for the next show right up against the rope. The show was cute not great but the funniest thing was the reaction of my kids. DS didn't run when he saw Darth Vader but he back up behind us a bit. The best reaction was when Darth Maul came out and came right up to where we were standing. I turned to see DS's reaction and couldn't find him. DH pointed out that he was behind me, squatting down, watching from between my legs! :rotfl2: Too funny! DD was being pretty brave until Darth Maul came right up to her and "iffed" at her. I don't know if "iffed" is a local slang but that is when it looks like someone wants to fight you and they kinda' jump forward at you with their chest out. Anyway, DD jumped backwards about 2 feet! Soooo funny! She laughed and was a good sport. The kids in the training were cute. I wouldn't want to be Darth Vader as even the littlest kids were attacking quite agressively!

IMG_1427.jpg

We had to make another stop to see Lightning and Mater today as the guys had on their Cars shirts.

Image0224.jpg

Image0230.jpg

After the guys took their pictures, we stopped to take a picture of the beautiful nativity on our way to Lights Motors Action!

IMG_1431.jpg

I was excited for DS to see this show as last trip, he fell asleep on me before the show started. I knew he would absolutely love it because he loves cars, motorcycles, etc. He is finally at the age where the loud noise doesn't bother him so much as well. Here's his critic of the show:

IMG_1462.jpg

as well as an extra pic:

IMG_1442.jpg

We also wanted to get in the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular for DS as well. We didn't get to see it last trip. He, as well as the rest of us, enjoyed that one as well. On the way there, we stopped to say hello to a few old friends:

IMG_1497.jpg

By this time, many people were either in Fantasmic or going to see the Osborne lights. Since we had seen both last night, we used the time to catch up on a couple rides. We first passed by Star Tours. We didn't go on it last trip b/c DD was a little nervous and DS wasn't tall enough. This year we were ALL ready to go for a ride especially DS who was anxiously awaiting his Star Wars birthday party I promised him. When we got there, the standby was only 10 minutes and I doubt we spent that much time in line.
Here is R2D2 in the ship in the queue:
IMG_1504.jpg

DS loved it so much that we had to walk right back on after we got off! MIL was waiting in the gift shop using that time to shop for DS's bday present. She wasn't too happy we were going again and couldn't make up her mind which toy to purchase, but we went anyway because you just can't tell that cute little 5 year old face no! ;) When we got out the second time, we did have to tell that cute little 5 year old face no as he wanted to go AGAIN, but we bribed him with the promise of gifts and using our TSM fastpasses. He made out like a bandit in that store between MIL and us but we knew we would be bday shopping while we were there.

We made it to TSM to use our fastpasses and the lines were still long! Glad that we had fastpasses, we got in line and were soon riding. Gotta' love that ride! So fun! As we were walking out, we realized that Buzz and Woody were taking pictures across the street. I didn't know that this morning! As we were walking up, they were just closing the door but they let us in as the last family for the night. This was a beautiful place for character pictures. I really like the way Disney is building places for characters. It might not be as spontaneous as wandering into them but at least if you gotta' wait in a line, it is out of the weather and the backgrounds make you feel like you're visiting them at their "home."

IMG_1507.jpg

At that point, we were tired and hungry. We were running around trying to fit everything in and never stopped to eat supper. Instead of finding a quick service there, we decided to spend our last meal at Pop. The foods always good and we could try to spend any left over credits. We didn't ride the movie ride or backlot tour which are pretty much our former traditions in this park, but we really wanted the kids to see their favorites. No Tower of Terror and no Rockin' Roller Coaster either.

Back at Pop, we ate supper and got the kids taking baths while we packed up to leave the next day. I'm going to miss Pop.

The next morning we had breakfast in the food court to spend our last remaining credits before we left. It was going to be a looooong 12 hour drive back home on Christmas Eve, but I knew it would be worth it to sleep in our own beds tonight.

Hi Melanie! I'm all caught up now :surfweb: You're finishing your TR and I'm just getting started w/ mine from the same time! Come by and compare notes if you like. :)

Weren't those Osborne lights amazing? Awesome that you guys got the full experience! The night we were there it was drizzling so they were making announcements that instead of "snow" we were getting rain and the lights couldn't dance to the music. :sad2: I did get to see the fountain at Epcot dancing to the Transyberian Orchestra holiday music - it's one of our favorites too!

Awww!! I can't believe that your TR is coming to an end! I've really enjoyed reading it! It looks like you had a wonderful day at HS! You met a lot of characters and rode some great rides! The HSM show was a highlight of our last trip. We had the same seats ya'll did and Ally was chosen to dance in the show! It was great! The show had been rained out earlier in ther week so we were so excited to finally see it!! :goodvibes
