A story of renewed hope & the power of Dis

yep hours later I am still a little freaked out I usually lie down around 3 pm to do the night shift later BUT since I had a blissful and obviously ignorant sleep last night I doubt THAT is going to happen..who knows when & how it came in ????

I will probably just draw on my reserves and stay up until tomorrow  It did make me MAD though so I took all that adrenaline and turned it into good, confronted 2 people in my life that were stringing me along about other things and finally got answers I mean for Gods sake I dealt with a SNAKE I might as well deal with people acting like one Right :thumbsup2 and FWIW NO not DH !

I'm sorry you had the freak out with the rat-snake. We have a couple that live near us: I don't mind so much, as they help control the rodent and rabbit population. The only thing that really worries me is if our dog gets too curious about them. DH caught one of them sunning on the deck and interrupted a pair mating last year. Good thing he's more freaked out by spiders than snakes.

There's using that adrenaline for good! Seriously hope you do get some rest, though.

Just to add my 2 cents. I was born a Ruthann and always hated my name. As I grew it changed from Ruthie to Ruth to Carol( you'd have to ask my dad). And kind of stuck at Ruth. When I was young I wanted to be Susan?? Oh well these days I answer to many names including Ninni, and mom along with Ruth. We Ruth(IE)s have to stick together! Have a great day! Ruth

I've answered to Beth and Bruce too. DH's best friend's name is Bruce and there have been many times when he's been called and I've answered and vice versa.

Good thing I did NOT go to work last night or I would not have been home for this and God knows where it would be now I am not afraid of too many things but snakes HIGH on the list

So most of the dogs sleep in their crates This morning I hear the male dachshund growling I laugh " Sounds like you're arguing with yourself, what's the matter boy" I leave the bedroom to go see and stop DEAD in my TRACKS !!!!:scared::scared: S N A K E right along the wall by the dog just under the windows What to do What to do Don't want to freak it out and have it disappear on me I walk over to the wall and open both windows Have the sense to know when (and this is NO option) I capture it I MUST have someplace to go with it Its about 4 feet long (feels like 100' but I am trying to stay calm an study it) also trying to remember everything I ever read, saw on TV, etc to find out if this is venomous My mind is flashing through like a rolodex...nothing

Ok I know enough that it can strike and I remember you need to cover its head I am glancing all around with one eye on it and can't find anything It slithers under the TV stand....NO NO ....I need to SEE you I have a small rake, like a child would use, that I often run over the rug to grab loose dog hair so the vaccuum doesn't get clogged I see that :cool1: ok...a plan....
it moves away again Oh hell you are NOT going into any other room

I alternate between yelling for God and not saying nice words I get that thing with the rake to hold it down....the dogs are going crazy, I am shaking, it is opening its mouth and hissing, I am envisioning a battle of the wills lasting hours until one of us passes out

Hit it with the box of trash bags, its heavy maybe it will get knocked out...nope but it quiets down for a few seconds...sure...like me it is plotting its next move It gets away from my rake....damn it I need a sword...I go after it again...this lasts about 15 minutes...no lie I looked at the clock after,
I will NOT let this thing get away from me I spot a box...yeah Amazon...I just opened it last night took out the books and left it on the floor

Ok little SOB I don't want to kill you I don't know HOW to kill you I don't THINK you will kill me but I am not sure...just get in the damn box and you will have your freedom ...please????? Not happening not willingly I finally get it positioned head first into the box pick up run to the window and toss it out

I have NO doubt I can do a 16 minute mile in fact I'll bet I can do a 10 minute mile The snake slithered away pretty fast too....good tell all your relatives and friends there is a crazy woman in here and go elsewhere !!!

Whew and how is YOUR day going ????

OMG Ruthie!!! I would have passed out right then and there and it would have had me for breakfast! :faint: :faint: :faint:

The BIG Question, how in the HE!! did it get into your house in the first place??????

D~

You were very brave Ruthie! I don't know what I would have done with a snake in my house. Thank goodness we don't have snakes in my neck of the woods!

Hope your are having a better day today Ruthie! :goodvibes

Ed - I just want to know what you are searching to get a breast implant ad to show up. :rotfl: I know that most of the ads that appear for me have been stuff I have searched recently.

Well you know that if my friends sign up for the Princess 1/2 i just might have to and if i am going to be wearing a tutu, sash, tiara, and everything else i might as well complete the package :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Lol. Just read my last post and your last post to dd. she started cracking up saying I wasn't sneaking I was looking for Ohana reviews. I say yeah right! No taking chances. Lol

Not sure how I added this here. Meant to put on my ptr. Sorry . Still trying to figure out my new phone

Love the night photos Ed!

Thanks. I am now giving myself another reason to back and shoot more night time pics. I will be buying a neutral density filter to help with the lighting. Then the D7100 will be next.

This was from this past December. I have never seen the fog settle in on Disney as bad as it did this night. When i left the park visibilty was no more than 1/4 mile. It was erie taking pics in this. You can just barely see the lights from American Adventure in the background. Ilive 2 1/2 hours south and i drove thru fog until an hour away from home.

Also when i left the park my truck was the only vehicle in the parking lot

I don't mind what they do either I know they control rodents BUT outside outside not in I see the every now and again snake when I go out to give Maxine hay We don't have a traditional barn It's a large shed really more the size of a garage, roll up garage door and all and thats where we store it Anyway every morning I roll it up usually I see the back end of a snake zipping by thats cool I respect it, it respects me corn snake black racer I deal About 2 yrs ago Gilbert (redbone coonhound) was going crazy in the middle of the night & I let him out next thing I know he's wrestling with something, bright yellow Well my garden hose was the same color at the time WTH has he lost his mind ? Nope our first encounter with a snake close up That freaked me totally, ran inside grabbed cellphone called my neighbor (who calls me affectionately "Yankee") earned my nickname that night as he calmed me had me describe it and told me a ratter is a good thing you want them around All this time had the bright yellow hose aiming it at the bright yellow snake trying to help Gilbert or break it up NOW I totally soaked the dog until he dropped it and saved it from demise

OMG Ruthie!!! I would have passed out right then and there and it would have had me for breakfast! :faint: :faint: :faint:

No you would not, you would have done exactly as I did there was NO choice! Believe me I wanted to faint but that wasn't an option

The BIG Question, how in the HE!! did it get into your house in the first place??????

I've been searching for answers today, there are MANY ways it could have gotten in we live in a double-wide, there's a "skirt" all around the house we're actually what 4 or 5 feet above nothing but dirt there is an empty overgrown lot next door directly behind the paddock is a swamp Question is really how did one NOT get in in 6 years...inevitable..I am going to have to buy something, like what dog catchers use something like those slip noose things that tighten and release OR one of those reachy grabby things to reach something on a high shelf or a very long BBQ tong might do

D~

You were very brave Ruthie! I don't know what I would have done with a snake in my house. Thank goodness we don't have snakes in my neck of the woods!

Oh I was NOT brave I was in "something must be done" mode on the outside and "sniveling little girl crying for Daddy" mode on the inside...must be all those years as an EMT the rational side of the brain kicks in, you fall apart AFTER

Now i would have grabbed that camera. Suprised it was inside.

Yeah ok a man's response :rolleyes1 just like Fred on phone," Really WOW !"

I have a great respect for all animal life but I am totally creeped out by in my opinion the darkside critters, you know the underworldly things snakes, roaches, rats, mice, my philosophy leave me alone I will leave you alone I was familiar with the size of FL roaches I was warned about the size of FL roaches
you could slip a saddle and ride out into the sunset on a FL roach since the day we moved in I have discreetly put down roach motel type of things throughout the house I have seen exactly TWO in 6 years and thats because I forgot one month to replace the motels but a freakin snake ??? What am I going to do to prevent that ???

Snakes - YUCK and :scared1:

We have snakes here too but I never see them in the house. I'm sure to face that sooner or later. Much later I hope.

Hope you get some sleep.

I'm with D~ here...I would have fainted dead away. Hate snakes! I don't care if they do good...not INSIDE the house, right? Oh Wow, Ruthie, you are so brave. I guess you do what you have to while Fred is away, but still, I don't know if I could have dealt with that so well.:sad2:

Ok, so I'll never be able to live in Florida! We have garter snakes and milk snakes, but rattlers are few a far between. And I'm fine about it. I read some threads about snakes inside some of the WDW resorts and was :scared1::scared1:.

Sorry I've been out of touch, but Emily and the girls will be here until Sunday. I'm enjoying every minute with them. Charlotte and I are going to the new Monsters University movie on Thursday. She's 4 1/2 going on 20!

Still enjoying Ed's pictures and all the silliness. Gives me a good laugh. I probably won't be on again for a while. Just thought I'd check in quickly while watching Sleeping Beauty with Charlotte. TTFN

Ruthie!!!!! I cannot believe you dealt with that snake the way you did ! What level headedness. It probably would hav frowned in my company.... Tears then vomit, tears then pee, years more vomit and pee. I am horrified of snakes. I respect them.....far away from me. Long story of where my fear came from, nuff to say my big brother used to torment me... Alot! I have held snakes , but I have horrible nightmares from them. God bless you.

Yuck and :scared1: is the perfect response You have snakes in BOSTON ??? I would have never thought :confused3 I did NOT get sleep wish I did called out for the shift SO didn't want to, had to control myself and not call out "snake" damn thing just threw my budget under a monorail

He would have panicked no matter how he reacted all cool on the phone :lmao: I know he would have or it would have been total overkill like the little old lady in the Ratatouille movie that shoots up the whole house trying to kill the rats :lmao: no better he wasn't here !

Yes totally understand got your email that was sitting in your "draft messages" for so long I will answer it, it was not a priority today but I will

Hahahaha, I love your snake story! I also know exactly how you felt, I found a coral snake in my house :scared1: I don't think my adrenaline has ever gotten that high :rolleyes1 So funny how you can't take your eye off it, if I hadn't got it I would have had to move out ::yes:: That little rhyme was going through my head the whole time (red on black friend of Jack, nope, not my friend) Scared me to death!

Lordy I was NOT brave I cannot emphasize that enough, I was terrified believe me fear does have an odor I found that out today I did not smell pretty :rotfl: what choice did I have...move out, let it live here? Call the fire dept, sheriff, ? they would have laughed at me for sure This is "old boy" country took me first 4 years to be acknowledged even the guy at the feed store is finally addressing me by name I would have set myself back a decade in acceptance If I called my neighbor he would have come over & shot ME for waking him up so early and he would have been calling me more than Yankee while doing so
