A story of renewed hope & the power of Dis

So after spending some lovely time with the Fairy Godmother I just had to finally see the new Tangled inspired bathroom....funny thing to have on a " must do" list right? but I kept hearing about it so off I went

Ok I HAD to post that, have done it before & it just seems a perfect excuse to do it again since Tangled is all about Maximus right ? It's not ?? Okay have a laugh anyway :rotfl2: I do love this horse ! so off to follow the yellow brick road...whoops...wrong movie......follow the Maximus hoof prints ...

I was very impressed with the detailing in this area, from the restroom, to the little sitting area perfect for recharging ones body & soul, not to mention cell phone & camera, although the hidden electric outlets in the "tree stump" really need a touch up paint Otherwise all and all NICE job Disney

So one more thing scratched off the " must do" EMH MK list Now what ?? Well originally I had an ADR for Akershus dinner the night of arrival If you recall I slept through it ::yes:: this is my pattern for day of arrival and I have now learned my lesson, NO ADRs for arrival day It was worth the $10 no show fee just to roll over & snuggle back into that comfortable bed

So I managed to get another for today for lunch BUT then I got an email invite for BOG FP for lunch Of course I grabbed that: two reasons: I have been fortunate to eat lunch at BOG many many times and have never ever been disappointed Most important I was on the DP this trip and if Mickey wants to spring for another nice meal I'm all over it Through the kindness of CMs or major pixie dust; not sure which my Akershus lunch was moved yet again This time I got a dinner ADR for tonight at 8 pm

Not even going to post pictures from BOG...quite frankly there aren't any  I could post pictures I took of the restaurant but you've all seen them ( and better quality than I have ) My food shots came out blurry, the CMs were SO busy I have no pics of me being there I will say this though again no disappointment in the food I can't even remember what sandwich I ordered :lmao: but it was delicious and so filling I had 1/2 wrapped to go, this worked since even though no fridge still at POP I was on a time crunch to get home, take care of everyone there shower change for dinner tonight and catch a few never have/must dos at EPCOT I did "Sneak a Peek at the progress on the 7 Dwarfs ( dwarves ? :confused3 ) Mine Train on the way out

Since this was about 5 weeks ago I am sure they are much further along but I love to have " work in progress" shots...somewhere buried in this computer are pictures of the steel framework when EE was being built I really need to find the time to organize all the 1,000s of files

I love that area...Disney really did a great job with it.

Yes they did a terrific job, very theme oriented and a great place to just sit & relax

Okay further updates have to wait, it's 1:50 pm here and I have to get this household back on a schedule  or at least try Have a blessed rest of the day friends

The first time DH and I came to WDW, EE was being built, so we have "skeletal"
pictures of it too. I remember looking at the big curve when you escape the Yeti and turning to Cale and saying"And you're going to expect me ride THAT?"

It's my favorite coaster at Disney now. I just love the backwards part!

Ruthie, I found your story! :thumbsup2

I have an " inside the house " snake story too! Black water snake, but I called the sheriff and animal control people. It took 2 hours and $142 to get it out. You are a very brave woman, you did it yourself! All I did was keep it from going into a heat / AC vent.

We'll get together again, I'm sure, and we will remember to light a candle.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I am on my final night in Atlanta. We arrived Wednesday. Late dinner. Thursday, drug store run, meet and greet, rehearsal, party. Friday, rhearsal, meetin, rehearsal, dinner , crash. Saturday, up early on the bus at 8pm, rehearsal, meetin, short rest, concert warm up then concert. Dinner was at midnight. Sunday, brunch at 9:3, shop at the festival, see the band in the parade, fight the crowss back to the hotel (withthe scooter) :faint: I just woke up from a three hour nap and I'm going to take a bath!

I understand not having time for anything.

So not that I'm trying to hijack you TR but I completely understand busy. I loved thw Tangles bathroom! We are going to have to check out that area, and I bet the charging station is popular! Love the look at the mine train ride. I love construction photos too! I just posted one from about three weeks later and you can see the difference!

Thanks for the update. Stay sane!

Thanks for all the photos of the Tangled area. I actually love that movie! Teh day we were in tthat area K's future inlaws were with us, so it was confusing. Included a lot of where to next conversations.
Yes, I laughed again at Eugene & Maximus! Showed Mark, he laughed too.
Glad you had another good meal at BoG. Hopefully your dinner will be as enjoyable.
Sorry you are having camera problems. thought of you today. We came across some Disney Christmas decorations, but no Pluto. :confused3

I cannot wait to see the Tangled bathrooms in person! I missed them by only a few days in March. I did my best to see over the construction walls but I know I missed a bunch.

I'm not sure if I ever want to eat lunch at BOG. I love the dinner menu but there is really nothing on the lunch menu that I will eat.

I can't wait to see what new stuff you did at Epcot!

I spent the weekend packing and getting ready for the trip! 5 days and counting!! :cool1:

I love seeing the new things at Disney through your eyes! Hope you have a great Monday! Love....

Not so brave just didn't have a choice, honestly I was terrified, if I didn't get it out I sure didn't want to wake up with it next to me If I called the sheriff out here they would have surely laughed at the Yankee ! When in Rome...in this case here...you handle these things ...yes we did forget the candle..not the prayers though.

The family is Moused out...they couldn't care less about Disney :confused3 and one DD is/was DVC...go figure...Fred would be just as happy watching a Law & Order marathon when he is home but I get him off his butt & out the door, once he's there & fed he's usually good to go Except for the fab 5 he has NO idea who any of the characters are...except Eeyore..he likes Eeyore... glad you are with us

Days a matter of mere days :thumbsup2 what I did at EPCOT is not new...just new to me....more pics update tomorrow

I love seeing the new things at Disney through your eyes! Hope you have a great Monday! Love....

I try to bring you all along with me..next year I want YOU to write a report, get to see another perspective

Are you still with me ? I hope I haven't bored you it seems to be taking forever to tell you all about this little trip and there is SO much more coming up later in Sept and Oct..that being said I will get a move on here:

Thurs 9/5 EPCOT: not new but certain things I wanted to do:

Finally meet Duffy OK I'll admit this 59 y/o has a Duffy :rotfl: actually 2 I have an original from when it was just called Mickey's teddy bear and he didn't have a name

I wanted to go see Donald in Mexico I haven't seen him in years ( that turned into a camera disaster :scared:) and then over to Akershus so here we go....Again why do I not stand up straight for these pictures ????

Duffy gave the best hugs...makes you feel like a little kid again with your teddy bear :goodvibes

Donald was in a very playful mood and so was the character handler & the photopass photographer It had started to rain very very slightly when he came from the backstage area following him probably due to the rain were baby ducks ! UNFORTUNATELY there is NO picture of this

This was the beginning of the end for pictures Much of my photopass pictures have gone POOF then they reappear and disappear, there has been a personal visit to Photopass in MK along with phone calls and emails back & forth to photopass managers It has left a lot of frustration and head scratching Last I checked Plutos BD pictures are still " lost" along with several from MNSSHP taken on Oct 6th

After this picture with Donald I tripped didn't fall but stumbled The Photopass photographer immediately caught my arm to steady me, a real gentleman Very nice BUT there was a fatality...MY camera  In horror I watched in slow motion as it flew out of my hand and painfully slowly tumbled in the air and landed on the ground :faint: My lousy $ 10 sunglasses still in my other hand survived...good grief !

I have had that camera for years, nothing fancy but later that night I got really upset about it I kept thinking about the years of memories...all the dogs had their pictures from puppyhood on taken with that camera, the relatives now long gone, the first meeting between Maxine & myself, the move to FL on & on, the grandson now 13 and the pictures of him

I got into a real stupid place emotionally Intellectually I knew its not like the memories were "in" the camera but emotionally ...well I was totally irrational in my feelings AND I was on my way to a character dinner with NO camera and tomorrow I had another one...crap...now I have to buy another camera I hate unexpected financial sagas, a camera to me is not a luxury I take pictures almost every day Now what ??

So now what?? Now I move on I had heard about Akershus, have been curious to see how is was I heard very good reviews about breakfast there but hadn't paid attention to dinner reviews I was still trying to get over the fact that I was going to a character meal with no camera, this has never happened before OK be a grown-up :rotfl:

Sorry for the blurry picture taken with a camera of the picture received there..well actually not there, it was mailed a received about a week later The restaurant is lovely and the interaction with all the Princesses was wonderful They paid just as much attention to me eating solo as they did to the little Princesses and Princes eating there with their royal families The procession with the children was priceless...damn not having a camera

Now the food not a fan, there is the salad bar area with deli meats etc and I found everything to have a " fishy" not good taste.all across the board even the cheeses from that area :confused3.the entree though that I picked ( bolded on the menu above)was delicious VERY filling and again 1/2 of it had to be wrapped to take home The desserts :faint: my goodness especially that rice cream FABULOUS Would I eat there again ? Hands down NO to dinner, maybe a breakfast not on top of the list though

I think you are leaning because you want to get closer to the characters for a good hug! I think the pictures are very cute and I love your dress!

Oh no, can't believe you broke your camera! :sad1: I tend to break mine every few years so I haven't really gotten too attached to any of them.

The last one I smashed was in the process of chasing a cat that got away from me at the shelter. I used to do all the pictures of the cats for the web site until they got a staff member to do it. Silly me let one of the cats out and in the process of chasing him I went down on the wet floor and smashed my camera. Luckily I kicked the garbage can on my way down and it scared the cat enough that he froze and I was able to catch him. :rotfl:

Now if I smash my new one I got for my birthday I might have to cry a little but only because it's the most expensive one I've ever bought.

ETA: Whoops, posted too early and missed your second post! Glad you enjoyed the time with the princesses! I'm kind of hesitent to eat there because of the menu. It doesn't really appeal to me at all.

Ruthie, love the picture with Duffy (although I just don't get the whole Duffy thing) and Donald. I am SO sorry to hear about your camera. I would have been upset too.

I'm with you on Akerhaus...we did lunch and was NOT a fan at all of the food. But, like you, we had great interaction with the princesses.

I think you are leaning because you want to get closer to the characters for a good hug! I think the pictures are very cute and I love your dress!

:rotfl: that may be it ! moving in for the hug...I do this with people too though...again guess its all about the hugs ! I love that dress too best $5 I ever spent LOVE my local thrift store a real find

I ended up buying one the next day...that was an experience in itself, these things are so tiny I got something more I am used to on eBay and HOPE it will be here in the next few days ..funny thing is the seller is the one I bought my original from years and years ago, great seller all new cameras not refurbs or anything so I think I will be happy

ETA: Whoops, posted too early and missed your second post! Glad you enjoyed the time with the princesses! I'm kind of hesitent to eat there because of the menu. It doesn't really appeal to me at all.

I don't think you or Jim would be happy eating there at all....sent you a LONG email as promised a day late but still did it :)

Duffy is adorable from what I understand he is VERY popular in Japan and I think I heard there is a female Duffy there too...:confused3 I liked him very snuggly...not Pluto snuggly but cute ! Yes Akershus the characters get 5 stars from me all wonderful ! The camera MAY be fixable the lens didn't crack or anything the door which holds the batteries won't close, but I needed a replacement NOW so one is on the way :goodvibes

Not sure how I feel about Duffy. Like you we have originals. We named him (them) Dizzy. I know, I know, yes that is also our dogs name. Lol but he came along many years later. (Just last year if you recall). Well a couple if trips ago MissM brought Dizzy ( the bear) to meet Duffy. Duffy and the photo pass person went nuts over Dizzy, so much so they forgot about poor MissM. Lol. Well having met MissM, how do you think that went over? Let's put it this way, we have not revisited Duffy since and dear Dizzy stays at home for our WDW trips now. Of course now he has his twin, birthday bear!
Most if us don't like the food at akersaus either. We've only done lunch. But agree the characters were great!
Sorry about your camera. Glad you got a new one.
You look adorable in the Duffy photo!
