No you are remembering incorrectly as am I also
NY State Worlds Fair was 1939 ( don't think you were there !) and 1964/1965
here's a cool link : and for those knowing NOTHING about the fair OR Queens NY in general if you go to the link you will see the "sphere" I referred to looks like the planet OH more trivia the opening of the TV Show "King of Queens" showed this and YES I will admit to sounding like "Carrie" from that show with a little Brooklyneese thrown in for good measure

Now for the part
I am remembering wrong was the year we first went it was not early 80s but mid...1985 to be exact as thats the year the Hyundai Excel first came out ( bing is my friend why google like everyone else ? LOL ) and I bought it new...probably 4 0r 5 grand stripped no a/c even but it was an accomplishment for me cash money no car loan I was so proud ! Yes busy times
Fred & I met 1983 but got married 1986 I put him off thought he was a fool...yeah well ....
ah the joys of getting older they say the memory is the first thing to go
I am still amazed Hyundai's were around in the 80's. I would have guessed 90's. That is too cool you bought it with cash brand new!! very cool.
Now about my confusion. I was pretty young. I'm guessing 5-7 ish. Our family took us to a huge fair in NY. I remember meeting Lassie (the original) and seeing a guy wrestle either alligators or
crocs in a very very tall round cage. Oh, and I remember getting sick on the ferry to my Uncles house on Long Island. hahaha. I have no idea what the fair was about. And maybe it wasn't as huge as I remember it. But, one of my older brothers had suggested it may have been the Worlds Fair. But, apparently not. I was just an infant then.

Thanks for sharing Ruthie.
Ed - the artwork in those tattoos ....amazing. Besides the artwork 4 things came to my mind instantly 1) that Maleficent reminds me of the dragon from Enchanted...2) ouch! 3) $$$$ 4) Figment looks mean....sharp teeth. Again, though, the artwork is incredible.
BTW, I meant to comment earlier Ed... sideways writing...

not easy for a woman that suffers from vertigo.
ALMOST forgot... about the Poly, so many people dream of it. We did too, finally we made it to a stay there and were very disappointed. BUT we had a car and always seemed to have to park 1 mile away from our room. With 3 exhausted kiddos it was a long walk every night. And I hate to say this because I am NOT a clean freak, but and this was many many years ago, the cleaning crew was very disappointing. from the minute we walked in I was disappointed. Again, that was about 15 - 18 years ago.
If you are not going to get park passes, perhaps a downtown disney resort would be better. The other thing you may want to look into is annual passes. Not sure how far apart your trips will be, or how long you will stay on the BIG trip, but they say usually a 10 day or more park hopper pass is worth getting an annual pass. So, if your Big trip is 10+ days, and is less than 12 months apart from your mini trip it may be worth it. Then the AP also USUALLY gets AP room discounts. Not sure if there are better deals out there or not. But, some food for thought. Or maybe Ruthie, or ED can tell you how those thoughts of mine might pan out financially.
