I would not have been happy to be on that flight with those food choices! I would think they would offer at least one thing that was a little basic.

Great travel day. I love the sign, it's perfect. The house is soooo big. I can't imagine that much space on a Disney vacation. Looking forward to more.

It’s Disney day!

giphy.gif
This is soooo going to be me when we finally go back.

When we were waiting for the elevator he asked if he should bring some ice from the ice machine, because it will be hot in Florida :scratchin
I said “yes absolutely”, because after 9 years together I know that this boy will never back down or refuse a “dare”.
This is hilarious. These kind of stories, I feel like really say that they are really meant for each other.

While we ate, Jamie and I discussed the TERRIBLE news that Splash Mountain and Test Track were both down for refurbishment for our ENTIRE TRIP.
YES!!! I think it was the same for us when we were there right before you. And it was super sad...

Jamie put on a real sad face, and cried out,
 I wish I had my ice right now!
Hilarious!

IMMEDIATELY SHOT down the runway at top speed, which was super unexpected.
But THEN the pilot hit the brakes, we came to a fairly quick stop, then went back around to the back of the runway queue…?!?!

giphy.gif

What the heckin’ heck.
That really freaked me out, I don’t know what happened.
Yikes!!!

These are the salt and pepper shakers!

50556483057_0fee79e399_b.jpg

And on the underside of their feet it says:
These are adorable!!!

50556481587_6eda5ab2f0_b.jpg

Haha! I’ve been replaced!
I love it!

The house is actually a rental home most of the time while Lin and Ian are back here in the UK.
I’d definitely recommend this resort if you want your own space post-COVID, or if you’re travelling with several people and fancy a bit (a lot!) more space than a hotel room!
Your pictures are tempting! That house is amazing for sure. I would def consider it if I could ever get my sister and family to come.

I want photographic evidence!

I'll start work on this plan :rotfl:

Oversight on your part.

How famous/rich do you think you have to be to demand they open up a ride that's down for refurbishment, and they actually do it?

Well... I guess nothing did happen since you didn't find yourself in a plane that was cartwheeling down the runway.

It could've been worse I guess!

I would not have been happy to be on that flight with those food choices! I would think they would offer at least one thing that was a little basic.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this! I used to be a really picky eater but not so much anymore, but I still don't want these weird meals on a plane, they'd probably make my stomach queazy! I should've asked for that mac and cheese kids meal!!!

Great travel day. I love the sign, it's perfect. The house is soooo big. I can't imagine that much space on a Disney vacation. Looking forward to more.

The sign is so great isn't it!! She put so much effort into it bless her  yeah it was so different having a whole house at Disney! I've made no secret here that I'm a Disney resorts fangirl, but it was a great alternative for a group trip!

This is soooo going to be me when we finally go back.

Haha right!! It's been such a chaotic year it feels like foreverrr since we were there!

This is hilarious. These kind of stories, I feel like really say that they are really meant for each other.

Aww I'm so glad! Sometimes I wonder if I'm oversharing silly stories and details like that, but he just makes me laugh so much I love to read back on these moments! I'm glad others have enjoyed these things too :goodvibes

YES!!! I think it was the same for us when we were there right before you. And it was super sad...

The worst!!! I think for me it's perhaps the only downside of visiting in January/February.... I love the lower crowds and cooler weather (still warm but not blazing heat!) but Splash being down is too risky! The refurb was announced after we'd already booked our trip, booo! :sad2:

Your pictures are tempting! That house is amazing for sure. I would def consider it if I could ever get my sister and family to come.

It was so great, yes I'd definitely consider it if you do a bigger trip!! When we stayed at the Beach Club in 2019 I was quite optimistic about getting adjoining rooms, but it was disappointing when that didn't happen! So we appreciated that quality relaxation time together :goodvibes

Oh my goodness...that house is amazing!!

Isn't it!! I couldn't believe how huge it was on the inside! I think it's great for bigger group trips, but actually even a family of four with two teenage kids would have so much more space than a hotel room. It's a good all-rounder!

Day 2

Part 1 – So Much Room For Activities!

Good morning!
Happy one-year-since-Jamie-and-I-got-engaged!

(Click here for our proposal story at Disney's Beach Club!)

We woke up early (still on UK time!) and had chocolate croissants for breakfast.
Then we had a morning full of electronic-free fun!

tenor.gif

We played some cornhole!

50556716116_77e3b895b4_b.jpg

Jamie and I had a super close game that went to sudden death rounds, but then he beat me :sad2:

Then we tried to play a round robin game of table tennis, where we all ran around the table each time we hit it

We also played a game of table football, me, Fran and Ian versus Jamie, Rob and Lin.
They were destroying us, until we made a fantastic comeback, I must say.
But then they beat us :sad2:

Then Lin and Ian went to the grocery store, while me, Jamie, Rob and Fran went to go play basketball!

50556843887_40bccb428c_b.jpg

50555980443_7af925b4f5_b.jpg

We played HORSE!

50556715641_d356ccee6a_b.jpg

Then we played some tennis as doubles, but ultimately Fran and I felt we were holding the boys back (they’re really good  and they play together regularly) so we left them to have a proper match together.

50556711861_ebf3396cb3_b.jpg

Fran and I went back to the house, only to find it empty with a really creepy, cheery song playing, like in a horror film :scared:
Fran was convinced that there was a serial killer in the house.
She RAN to the kitchen and said “TAKE THIS” handing me the biggest knife ever, and proceeded to check every room and closet in the house :rotfl2:

50555976313_ab4b99852e_c.jpg

50556711586_1488c11647_b.jpg

Lin and Ian returned from the store to find us creeping around with knives, no big deal :lmao:

tumblr_pl7hw2Vgx31tc1obqo1_400.gifv

They’d bought loads of yummy food for lunch!
We sent the boys a picture and they were back home in no time :thumbsup2

50555976028_652247f426_b.jpg

50555975893_d2094c06aa_b.jpg

We ate lunch outside, then got changed to go in our private pool :cool2:
Me, Jamie, Rob and Fran all tried to get in/onto the pretzel float at the same time, which didn’t go well.
We also played keep-ups, and every time the ball went out of the pool we had to run in a circle in the water, then run backwards in a circle, which was really difficult, I kept almost drowning.
As we ran we had to sing “olayy olaaay”.
(I'm not sure about the US, but it's a common football/soccer song here in the UK!)
Those were the rules, apparently.
If anyone saw this whole thing they would’ve called a mental institution.

tenor.gif

Soon we got dried up, showered and changed, and all six of us headed to Epcot!
We set off at around 3:30pm and it only took us 10 minutes to get there!

Welcome to Walt Disney World!

Part 2 – Goofy Fun At Epcot!

We arrived at the Epcot parking lot, took the tram to the park entrance and made it through bag check.
Then we tapped our magic bands and entered the park at 3:50pm!

50556710776_243f8e0e5a_b.jpg

Right when you enter the park, before you even get to Spaceship Earth, there’s a character meet a greet area.
We saw a huge line to meet Pluto, and poor Goofy was stood there all alone!
How terribly sad!
So we walked right up and met him!

He shook everyone’s hand, but then he ‘psyched’ me out

50556843497_b188dd3e34_b.jpg

Goofy hugs are great.
He’s so big and protective :lovestruc

50555979943_e7bf131e79_c.jpg

50556843167_cd001bb2a6_c.jpg

The whole gang!

50555979843_912713f599_b.jpg

Such a great first entry to Disney!

We’re at Epcot WOOO.
The first thing we noticed was the CONSTRUCTION.
Yum and wow, there was a lot of it.

Actual footage of Epcot:

tumblr_nevz7yzwZV1qc354ro2_r4_250.gif

We had a look around the new temporary Mouse Gear, while the other one is gutted and re-imagined!
How cute is this throw?

50556842792_5279fe7d25_b.jpg

Then we headed into World Showcase!

50556714736_ba5c70aa98_b.jpg

50555979443_5d750fe7dd_b.jpg

We decided to visited El Mexico and do the boat ride!

50556714561_593202b714_c.jpg

This display is lovely, the purple and orange is so pretty.
I love Coco colours.

50556842502_be024fdd8d_b.jpg

50556714376_28de61888e_b.jpg

Gran Fiesta Tour!

50556842367_1c3e947d15_b.jpg

Love it!
Fran almost cried at the song because “they’re such good friends” :rotfl2:

When we left we saw the mariachi band!

Then we all headed to Norway for some refreshments.
I LOVE NORWAY.
(See chapter: Pre-Trip Travel)

Skølebrod!

50556714091_f310bfb46b_b.jpg

We’d just had the real deal in for breakfast in Norway a couple of weeks prior!

50556713951_819343fe41_b.jpg

Everybody got a beer from the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe and we sat outside.
It was almost 5pm and still a nice warm evening!
We all got Aass Pilsner :drinking1, and Fran got an Einstok Toasted Porter, which almost killed her off :lmao:
It was tough to get through apparently

tenor.gif

Oh, and Rob got a huge brownie!

50556841862_22a2836bf3_b.jpg

50556713611_051ef555d3_c.jpg

Thanks Norway!
After our refreshments we headed out for more adventures...

Part 3 – No Rules For Me, I’m Free!

Our pints of beer must have lowered our inhibitions a bit, because next we headed towards MISSION SPACE, and we were feeling brave enough to do the orange team!
Jamie and I neverrrr do Mission Space Orange.
I think we only did it once back in 2012 and we both came out feeling terrible.
I had such a headache!
I had no idea what was going on so I was super confused by the g-force, and I think I just became totally disorientated.
But pour one pint of Norwegian beer down my gullet and HERE I GO.

giphy.gif

50556841687_c9ed45b5e4_b.jpg

Festival of the Arts is in full swing!

50556841592_6c1acbf202_b.jpg

50556713346_7a5c155934_b.jpg

Coming soon…

50556713316_453208e00e_b.jpg

We arrived at Mission Space to use our fastpasses at 5:30pm.

50556841462_e2c8f50f73_b.jpg

Lin and Fran were set on doing the Green Team.
I almost did green with them, because you know, sisters before misters and all that princess:
But I couldn’t waste this alcohol-induced confidence.

44092f5c5c758a04788116a7233edd5b.jpg

So I ended up going with the boys

50556713151_c1cbef185b_c.jpg

50556841297_7bf8706e9c_b.jpg

Eeep getting nervous now!
At least I had this happy nugget next to me :lovestruc

50556841217_4074856f55_b.jpg

And who’d have thought, we were absolutely fine!
I definitely think knowing that your spinning helps to keep your head straight.
It was intense but fun!
I was the Navigator, so I had to fire the rockets.
I think I did a good job.

Anyway!
When we exited at 6pm we were greeted by a beautiful sunset :cloud9:

50556713016_1e191211e5_b.jpg

We found Lin and Fran and headed over to The Land!
We had a fastpass coming up for Soarin’ so we rode Living with the Land while we waited.

50555977778_d7a4cc83dc_b.jpg

As always, the line was HUGE.

50556712806_f3aee6b4b9_b.jpg

I love Living with the Land, I want to work in there.
We were pointing out all of the hidden Mickey’s to Lin and Ian!

50555977573_750723fcd6_b.jpg

50556712616_5dc679e9b0_b.jpg

At 6:30pm it was time to use our fastpass at Soarin!

50556712431_2f46a25d9d_b.jpg

We were seated in the top right corner today...

9nDjXAw.jpg

While we were Soarin’ over the water, Fran and I couldn’t remember if there was a whale or something that jumped out.
That kind of thing terrifies me.
I’m really scared of sharks so I get such a fright when things leap out of water.
Well, we convinced ourselves that we were getting confused with Flight of Passage.
THAT’S where something jumps out the water at you.
Not nice, relaxing Soarin’…

tenor.gif

:lmao:

I also knew that the eagle was a transition to a new scene, but I watched him disappear beneath us and instantaneously forgot that he was coming back.
His screech is so loud when he flies in front of you.
I did echo him and yelped a bit

tenor.gif

Honestly, how many times have I been on this ride, I don’t even know.
I swear I only had one of those beers

Everyone clapped as the ride came to a stop, I love that :goodvibes

This was Lin and Ian’s first time riding Soarin’, and they thought it was so wonderful!
They both said it was their favourite ride now! :lovestruc

We left The Land at around 7pm, perfect timing for our 7:10pm dinner at Teppan Edo!
So we strolled around World Showcase to the Japan pavilion and checked in at the restaurant!
We were seated with a family who were from Dallas, which was fun because Lin and Ian used to live in Dallas!
Rob, Fran and Jamie had all been out there to stay at Lin and Ian’s so everyone had a lot to talk about!
Except for me.
I’ve never been to Dallas.

59cd2fefca8792592f35afb2ea224abf.gif

I had a sushi sampler to start!

50555977273_1da8b6f358_b.jpg

I loooove sushiii.
Then I ordered the steak and shrimp!

50556712246_e92f60e91c_b.jpg

50556840447_4ddb880afb_b.jpg

We ate here for the first time last year and it was just as good as we remembered!
It’s a real novelty dining experience, we don’t have anything like this back home.
So much fun!

At 8:45pm Fran and I let it be known where our priorities really lie, and we ditched everyone in the restaurant to go and ride Frozen Ever After before it closed at 9pm!

giphy.gif

:rotfl2:

Everyone had finished, I promise.
(I think…)

There may have been a couple of people still finishing their drinks.

50555977003_2ca1740e74_b.jpg

We speed-walked (probably ran) through World Showcase to the Norway pavilion on the fullest of stomachs, leap-frogging over small children, sending them tumbling to the ground.

giphy.gif

(Our Prime Minister, ladies and gentlemen :rotfl: )

We made it!

50555976933_f8cc7cfb6f_b.jpg

50555975573_e3c71c694d_z.jpg

The wait time said 35 minutes but it was only 15 :cool1:

50556712011_f8d04cf3bb_b.jpg

Love is an open DOOOOR.

I find this ride picture so funny
We look so mischievous.

50555975408_f70a3a0c3d_c.jpg

TOTALLY worth the dine and dash!
:lmao:

After the ride we found the others nearby.
They’d watched the new (temporary) firework show Epcot Forever!
Jamie was telling me about the kites with the firework tails, he really liked that!
He also said that Tapestry of Nations is in the soundtrack, which I love :lovestruc
Hopefully I’ll catch it at some point this trip :thumbsup2

It was 9:30pm now, so we headed out to the carpark.

50556711941_b125a202cb_b.jpg

Rob drove us all home, and we were back in 10-15 minutes!
We all just crashed and went straight to bed!
We had such a fun evening at Epcot!

Goodnight!

That house is incredible. It’s so tough to give up the convenience (and full immersion) of on site, but it’s tempting when you see the rentals available.

Teppan Edo always looks and sounds so fun, but I always skip it because we have two restaurants 15 minutes in either direction...yet we never go to either of them so I don’t know why I’m all “it’d be a waste to do this at WDW when I can do it at home.” If I do go, it’s to the third option which is the “fast food” version that one of them opened in the market near my office so same food but no show, which I admit, is like what’s even the point? 😂

I really do need to add it to the WDW dining list.

Good morning!
Happy one-year-since-Jamie-and-I-got-engaged!
WOOOOO!
They were destroying us, until we made a fantastic comeback, I must say.
Well that is always exciting.
They’d bought loads of yummy food for lunch!
Looks really good!
Soon we got dried up, showered and changed, and all six of us headed to Epcot!
DISNEY TIME!
Welcome to Walt Disney World!
Great sign pic!

That summarizes Epcot perfectly.
Our pints of beer must have lowered our inhibitions a bit, because next we headed towards MISSION SPACE, and we were feeling brave enough to do the orange team!
I wasn't brave enough, but I didn't like Green that much. Might do Orange next time I go.
I definitely think knowing that your spinning helps to keep your head straight.
That is good to know.
Rob, Fran and Jamie had all been out there to stay at Lin and Ian’s so everyone had a lot to talk about!
Except for me.
I’ve never been to Dallas.
Wow. That is quite sad to be left out like that.
We all just crashed and went straight to bed!
We had such a fun evening at Epcot!
That was great!

Can't wait to hear about what happened on Valentine's Day!

:lmao:

Oh my goodness do you people not have netball over there??!! It's a sport that's fairly popular with ladies over here and in Australia and New Zealand I believe! Similar(ish) set up to basketball except we can't run with the ball, and we wear little dresses :teeth:

giphy.gif

Sadly not! Edinburgh though!

Hahaha amazing!

Ooh where have you done these? Northern Canada somewhere?

Crazy!!

Yes correct I will pass along your feedback.

Thank you!

Being spontaneous is a great way to be!

:lmao:

Yes that's what I mean tomato sauce!! I just expect it to have tomato sauce on it BUT ALAS.

Divine!
My parents are from South Africa and one of my mom’s favourite games growing up was net ball. Thanks for posting a video of it!

We played some cornhole!

Very popular game here during tailgating before a college football game.

We played HORSE!

Of COURSE!

She RAN to the kitchen and said “TAKE THIS” handing me the biggest knife ever, and proceeded to check every room and closet in the house :rotfl2:

Oh dear how scary. I'm glad you were armed.

That's a nice variety of food.

Lovely site!

The first thing we noticed was the CONSTRUCTION.
Yum and wow, there was a lot of it.

Yes the front of the park is full of it.

:lovestruc This is just perfect.

You're much braver than I. DH loves this ride but no one will ride Orange with him.

And who’d have thought, we were absolutely fine!

Glad to hear you made it.

Everyone clapped as the ride came to a stop, I love that :goodvibes

I do too!

Except for me.
I’ve never been to Dallas.

I'm so sorry. I live in Louisiana and I have been to Dallas since the late 80's when we lived in Texas.

At 8:45pm Fran and I let it be known where our priorities really lie, and we ditched everyone in the restaurant to go and ride Frozen Ever After before it closed at 9pm!

And she is right! If you're in line before closing they have to let you ride.

Love this ride photo! Everyone is having so much fun.

We also played keep-ups, and every time the ball went out of the pool we had to run in a circle in the water, then run backwards in a circle, which was really difficult, I kept almost drowning.
As we ran we had to sing “olayy olaaay”.
So, we bought a temp pool this summer with everything going on. Big enough for 6 people and this became a regular activity for us. There is only so much you can do in a small pool. And it is HARD when you switch directions!

Actual footage of Epcot:

OMG!!! This is TOTALLY accurate! It was pretty bad for awhile there!

How cute is this throw?

50556842792_5279fe7d25_b.jpg
I bought this as a Christmas Gift for Gwen this year! (Half cause I loved it too!)

How famous/rich do you think you have to be to demand they open up a ride that's down for refurbishment, and they actually do it?
Hmmm... At least 10 readers to your TR??

Okay... Seriously, I doubt they'd open anything that was in the middle of a refurb. Might not be safe or operable or pleasing to the eye... or all of those.
But...
The Queen? Maybe? The President?
Jamie and I had a super close game that went to sudden death rounds, but then he beat me :sad2:
He probably cheated.
Then we tried to play a round robin game of table tennis, where we all ran around the table each time we hit it
Fran and I went back to the house, only to find it empty with a really creepy, cheery song playing, like in a horror film :scared:
Fran was convinced that there was a serial killer in the house.
She RAN to the kitchen and said “TAKE THIS” handing me the biggest knife ever, and proceeded to check every room and closet in the house :rotfl2:
There was definitely some there. Did you check under the beds?

;)
We also played keep-ups, and every time the ball went out of the pool we had to run in a circle in the water, then run backwards in a circle, which was really difficult, I kept almost drowning.
Obit: "Tragically, during a game of keep-ups... Sorry, I can't go on. It's too ridiculous."
If anyone saw this whole thing they would’ve called a mental institution.
Probably!
We arrived at the Epcot parking lot, took the tram to the park entrance
You know... I don't think I've ever taken a tram from a parking lot at Disney.
They may not have had any when I first went.
He shook everyone’s hand, but then he ‘psyched’ me out
 Atta boy.
The first thing we noticed was the CONSTRUCTION.
Yum and wow, there was a lot of it.
"Yum and wow" for construction????
Actual footage of Epcot:

How cute is this throw?
:thumbsup2
Fran almost cried at the song because “they’re such good friends” :rotfl2:
awwww... :)
Really like this shot. Looks like an actual village.
Skølebrod!
Nope!
Coconut.
But pour one pint of Norwegian beer down my gullet and HERE I GO.
And who’d have thought, we were absolutely fine!
Well! Good!
I've had a very similar experience. (sans beer)
First couple times I rode it, I felt ill. But the next time... I was fine.
I was the Navigator, so I had to fire the rockets.
I think I did a good job.
Thank goodness. Very bad things would've happened if you hadn't.
We were seated in the top right corner today...
ew.
And your Eiffel Tower photo is accurate.
:lmao:
This was Lin and Ian’s first time riding Soarin’, and they thought it was so wonderful!
They both said it was their favourite ride now! :lovestruc
:goodvibes
We ate here for the first time last year and it was just as good as we remembered!
It’s a real novelty dining experience, we don’t have anything like this back home.
So much fun!
Love it there. We have that kind of thing here, but the chefs aren't nearly as entertaining.
(Our Prime Minister, ladies and gentlemen :rotfl: )
I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with. His willingness to bowl over small children, or the fact that the small child was able to bring him down.
I find this ride picture so funny
We look so mischievous.
You do!
Rob drove us all home, and we were back in 10-15 minutes!
That's faster than some internal busses!

Well, here I come back from a Dis hiatus for a while and what's the first trip report I notice when I return? Yours! Such a happy moment, I have always really enjoyed your TRs. I'm so sorry the pandemic affected your wedding but hope it's only that much more wonderful later. And your recounting of the Frozen ride did trigger a thought -- piece of wedding advice. When asking two people to do a reading, do NOT, under any circumstances, choose the lyrics to Love Is An Open Door for your reading. No kidding, DH and I went to a wedding of his friend (he was a groomsman) in Dallas coincidentally where another friend and a bridesmaid were asked to do a reading. The friend did not realize what the reading was until he showed up, thinking it would be a Bible passage or poem. Nope. It's the Frozen song that highlights the emotionally abusive and manipulative behavior of the power-hungry, psychotic villain against an innocent heroine. He was beyond embarrassed but the bridesmaid was so into it. It was brilliantly awkward so naturally I filmed the whole thing.

I don’t think the song or lyirics highlight Hans’s abusive character in any way. The context we learn later does that. It’s actually quite a lovely song.
