Hi, guys.

So I'm officially a Senior now, and I have one year of dance left. I won't be returning to my studio for classes after graduation, because I'm going to an out-of-state college.

I've been at my studio for 13 years now, going into my 14th year this fall. I've worked my way up from pre-Ballet (age 4) to Intermediate classes (age 16).

I want to do Advanced classes next year, but I'm not so sure if it'll be right for me.

Pros:

*Get to be with my closest friends at the studio who are moving up to Advanced this coming year
*It's my last chance to prove myself
*IT'S MY LAST YEAR OF DANCE AT MY STUDIO. EVER.

Cons:

*There's a girl in those classes that I do NOT get along with. I don't want her to be talking about me behind my back, or trying to turn people against me and ruin my love for the class
*I'm not sure if I'm good enough for Advanced-level classes

Two of my friends want me to (sort of pushing me, actually...). One is undecided herself if she's going into Advanced. The last one wants me to do whatever I want to do; if I'm not in her classes, she'll miss me, but will be okay, and if I am, she'll be happy.

I'm SO torn on what to do. Do I do it because I want to and it's my last chance, or do I let my fear stop me? Fear...or dream?

Please help?

I say go for it! It's ur last year anyways, so why don't u do
something new and exciting..follow your dream! Plus, it will
be great to be with your friends, and dont worry about that
other girl! I'm sure everything will work out, just don't listen to
her. Advanced classes sound like a great thing, you should definetely
do it, but that's just my advice..good luck! :goodvibes

I think you should go for it. It IS your last year at the studio, and you'll have fun with your friends.

If you're still torn or unsure if you're good enough for an advanced class, I'd ask your teacher. Ask her if she thinks you're ready for an advanced class and see what her take on this is.

Hope that helped a little! :)

Thanks, guys. I'm definately going to talk to my instructor, as well as other friends.

dream!!!! go for the advanced. u've been dancing since 4... don't worry what that girl has to say... people who gossip and talk behind backs are often jealous and insecure. as long as u'll have fun in that class do it! it's ur last year, show em what u got!

I talked to one of my closest (and oldest!) friends at the studio, and she says to go for it. I think I will.

It's my last year. It's time to do something right.

if you don't do it, you'll always wonder & regret.

if you do it, and dont like it.. then at least you put your best effort in.

the only time you should do anything out of fear is if its safety related. if your teacher thinks you're ready, go for it.

Screw that other girl. The advanced classes (at my studio anyway) are amazing and a wonderful opportunity.

Whatever you choose don't let it be because of some loony bint.

Do it!! Then you will never regret it and wonder what could have happened! You only live once so make it worth it! :)

Go for it Meg! Don't let any silly little girl stop you from doing what you love! You'll never know if you're good enough unless you try :)

I say go for it!! Don't let your fear ruin your dreams in life, no matter what it is!!! I learned this the hard way!! I was out of sports at the end of basketball season for my knee i had patella tendinitis in my right knee and went through physical therapy to heal it and it got healed DR's and physical therapist released me to play softball ( my favorite sport ever and to hopefully play in college). I hurt it in softball last summer on the last scoring run of the championship game sliding into home!! i slid into the pitcher she fell on me then the catcher fell on me to try to get me out too(both pitcher and catcher good size people compared to me) and so I was scared to go back out this summer the fear of getting hurt again made me not feel very well and the DR told me what ever i did this summer i would have to go into it easy not go 110% in anything right away!! So i talked to my dad and he said to take it off so i took his advice and now i REALLY REALLY REGRET taking it because every single day I'm not out there on the softball fields i believe its keeping me from reaching my dream one day!! By the way i played catcher and pitcher both so you need your knees to be healthy to play thoughs positions its not like 1st or 3rd where you don't move much!! The good thing is I will only be a freshman next year so there is an upside so i still have all 4 years of HS to play but i will be at a disadvantage next year caz i havent played for 2 years!!

Without a doubt, DO ADVANCED!!! you have to push your self. & its ur last year, so this is ur last chance. dont worry about the girl, just focus on the dancing instead of the people. i decided to just go straight into my higher level next year, & skip another year of what im doing now. ya itll be hard but im ready to work for it. good luck, you'll do great!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone :grouphug:

I told my mom I was going to do it, and she just looked at me and said "I was wondering when you were going to do that".

So it's a DEFINITE yes, now! I can handle it, for sure. As for the witchy-poo girl, well, she can have her clique, and I can have mine. We'll stay out of each other's way, and it should be okay.
