: Myself 63 and my sister 52/53 Another B -day in WDW for her!
We've been to WDW many times!
Me about 14 times, my sister closer to 25 times.
Port Orleans Riverside was the choice this time,
Check in. Do bell services for luggage. Go to breakfast, back to check in for a Happy Birthday button, off to the pool. We both had our pool bags ready beforehand as we stayed offsite Sat evening because of a late flight.
**2 late morning, early afternoon days ( Day 1 and day 2) at the pool, about 3 hrs each. How relaxing it is to enjoy the pool, go into the hot tub and relax on a beach chair with a beverage (diet coke) and a book!
**First night: A monorail loop with stops at the 3 Deluxe resorts. First Contemporary. We only looked in the gift shop but it's still worth a visit. Next, the GF, a stop into Basin before drinks at The Enchanted Rose. We were told a wait time of 20-25 minutes. Thankfully, we didn't go downstairs to see the Gingerbread house then because we had our seats in 5 minutes! We were seated in the library and we each ordered a cocktail and took in all the details of our surroundings! Next, we elevated downstairs to see the Gingerbread house. How fortunate there was a piano player at the beautiful grand piano for live entertainment too! Our last stop, The Polynesian, a favorite place with special memories of some early WDW vacations with our parents and my family also. DOLE WHIP here I come! WE did plan on getting a bite to eat first and made our way to Capt Cooks. Afterwards it was Dole Whip time before walking to the beach to see the MK Fireworks! Afterwards a stop in their gift store and then the process of getting back to P.O.R. WE did bus to DS, Bus to P.O.R.
** Day 2: Happy Birthday Sister!! pack up a pool bag, put on the swim cover ups and off to breakfast and pool time again. Afterwards, showered and walked to bus stop for DS to enjoy window shopping and a Stop at the COKE Rooftop Bar. It's taken me 3 visits to finally get here! A few minutes after we arrive on the rooftop it starts pouring. We were lucky!! I really liked the place and would stop again!! I was able to get a person's phone back to them before they got on an elevator down. It felt so good! I told the woman that I was a #1 "lose my phone every vacation" kind of girl. She was so happy, it made me even happier! Off to our 6:00pm Raglan Road ADR for a celebration dinner. We got there about one hour early and went to the bar. We each ordered a cocktail. Live entertainment was already happening, YES!! That afternoon/night we only walked from the bus stop as far as the CocaCola Store and then back to Raglan Road stopping at quite a few shops in between. Everything else to see there was for another day! Bus stop back to P.O.R.
My sister received a free iced coffee drink for breakfast at POR, a free chocolate pop at The Ganchery and a free dessert at Raglan Road ( Bread pudding, the best)! It really was a great day!
**Day 3: We had to have Beignets at French Quarter! Walked to the Boat landing to ride over to POFQ and found the area where they now serve the beignets! What a great space. The last time I stayed at POFQ, the little delights were served in the food court. Beignets here do deserve a special area! We split 3 and each got a piece of fruit. Next up, a boat ride back to DS to stop in all the shops In Market Place. I already knew I was going to pass by Swirls on the Water where my "have to have Dole Whips" are served BUT the beignets were enough sweet for me so I passed it by! We went into a lot of stores, so much to look at. It started to lightly rain and we found shelter at Ghirardelli's at an umbrella table. We noticed a young group of many walking over to the stage area and got lucky to hear them perform about 4 or 5 songs!!! The rain stopped and we made our way down to Jock Lindsey's hangar Bar and decided to stop for a cocktail and appetizer. We decided on bus stop back to POR to save ourselves the long walk it would've been back to the boat landing. BUT before we entered the bus queue I asked her if she wanted to get on a bus to visit another Deluxe resort. YES she agreed and we chose Wilderness Lodge. It's a beautiful resort and I've only stopped in the resort main bldg and pool area once. My sister has stayed there a few times! We got a drink and went outside for a short time and decided to head inside the lobby and just relax there for a bit, taking in the surroundings. We stopped in their gift shop to look and made our way back to the bus stop for DS to get back to POR. We ate dinner in the POR food court and sat outside for quite a while watching the horse drawn carriages take people on their rides. it was so relaxing! After we made our way to the room, we found Mary Poppins Returns on TV and watched that until lights out!
** Day 4: our last full day. Off to the food court for a light breakfast and a Bus to DS so we can each buy a few things now that we've seen all we could possibly see. WE found ourselves down in the WESTSIDE area and decided on Splitsville for lunch. Plus, it was an opportunity to check the place out! Our next planned event was seeing the movie HERE with Tom Hanks/Robin Wright at 1:30. We enjoyed the movie, More shopping: I bought my GS a Star Wars tee shirt and I updated my keychain from a 2006 vacation! I bought a few chocolates at The Ganachery and an eyeglass case at the Coke store. My sister had been eyeing a soft sweatshirt/sweater type and found it, so she was happy! Now it was time to get in line at Gideon's. 22 minutes later I had my 3 cookies boxed up ready to take home for the family. Somehow, we made it all the way back near the boat launch area so I had to get my DOLE WHIP Float! We were ending our trip with an evening back at POR for YeHaa Bob in the River Roost Lounge. We had a few pkgs to dump off in the room, plus my sister wanted to freshen up so made the trip back to the room and then walked back to the main building. We talked to a delightful cast member for a bit asking about pick up location with Mears for the next morning, telling her of our short and fun vacation. We wanted a good view of BOB so we entered the Lounge about a good 1.5 hrs ahead of the show. We ordered cocktails and a bit later ordered an appetizer. I noticed a table near us bring in a few chicken fingers from the food court. I did get up later and get myself some chicken fingers! We ordered another round of cocktails as the show was starting. Our server was so nice. It was good having him, since we had sat near the bar area another night and talked with him! The show with YeHaa BOB was so much fun! It was a great way to end our short stay!!
Can't wait to return to WDW again. There can never be a "last trip" for me!
