A Semi-Solo President's Day Weekend Extravaganza NEW 4/22 Free Upgrade!

That meal looks so delicious and decadent! I haven't had poutine in so long. Are there differences in French Canadian and southern US poutine? I also like vodka. I can't drink it as much as I used to - well, I can, but I can't do it and maintain my figure.

Fab update Jen, and I was right that you went to Epcot! Though after reading about your Le Cellier dinner, you might want to reconsider changing the update title...that's a lot of alcohol!:lmao: Just kidding, I know you're not a lush.

Holy cow, how on earth did you manage to put away all of that food? You're such a tiny thing too! I'm impressed. And the food looked incredible. Le Cellier is one of my favs and we can't wait to eat there again when we go back. So what the heck is poutine then? Gravy and fries?:confused3

I'm glad to hear that Figment is growing on you, I love that ride! I think it's based on the fact that I went to Epcot in the early 80's and met THE figment. That's right, the real one.:thumbsup2

Sounds like a fantastic start to your trip!:goodvibes

Jen, I have this image in my mind of you (a little wobbly after all the alcohol) chasing the jello around your plate.

Glad Bubba got some good vegan food too!

Teresa

:rotfl: that would be me alright!! Bubba did get some good vegan food and she didn't even speak to the chef!

Wowwww hahaha, that's a big meal! Everything looks so good... especially those desserts. Mmmm lemon cheesecake...
That poutine sounds weird. Once I went on a half-way-cross country tour and ate poutine at every single stop. I've never seen it done like that! LOL
But really, that's an amazing meal.

What an awesome thing to do! Poutine your way across Canada. Great idea :thumbsup2

No clue how I missed that you started this but I'm here now.....great start!!!

Queen! So glad you're here! Sorry I kinda just sprang this up rather fast. Hope you enjoy!

I'm not sure if there's differences in the Poutine served in the south US. I've only really tried the one at Le Cellier and it was much fancier than the ones you get at fast food places around here. It really is more of a fast food kind of thing. I'd assume it would be the same? Drinking and dieting is a terrible thing to mix :sad2:

what are the new FP rules?

You don't know? You call yourself a Disney fan?! kidding! Well if you're serious and really don't know, Basically Disney is cracking down on the use of fastpasses. You can no longer come back anytime after the first time on your FP. You must return within that window. CMs will no longer honor any FP outside the window. It's being implemented March 1st I think. Really, most people didn't know you could come back after the window anyway. So it's more a let down for us crazy Disney nuts who knew the secret.

Hey now, I did control myself....a little :rolleyes1 I have NO FREAKIN' IDEA how I ate all that food. To be fair, I didn't actually eat everything on my plate. I mabe ate 2 bites of the Poutine and half of my short rib. There was definitely food left over. Poutine is fries, gravy and cheese curds. The cheese melts when you pour hot gravy over it. Mmmmmmm so good :cloud9: it's a Canadian staple. I can't believe you met the REAL Figment! Was he as fantastic as he is on the ride?

Ahh, I missed the beginning! Time to catch up but I'm here now. :)

Sweetie, I've been in your very honored presence, right beside you even, and I know for a fact that you are not a large woman......AT ALL!!! Where in heaven's name did you put all of that? I couldn't have eaten it all, (and no, I am NOT a large woman either Rosie, Dan, Kathy, Glenn, Molly, etc.) especially the blue cheese!

Even after saying that, I HAVE to ask............NO Maple Creme Brulee??? :scared1:

i thought that is what it might have been, but wanted to make sure, that kinda stinks but i guess enough people were going after there window that it slowed the lines down in the end of the day.

and no, I am NOT a large woman
if you have to actually type it, then there must be some sort of confusion there.
;)

I like the sound of that! Really, I have no idea how I ate all that food. But honestly I didn't lick the plates clean. I would've barfed if I had eaten all that food. And NO Maple Creme Brulee! I know, it's a travesty. If my memory serves me correctly (which I hope it does seeing how I can't possibly be hitting that golden age yet ;) ) I don't think it was even on the dinner menu :scared1:

following along :)

:welcome: mike the canuck! I'm so glad to have another fellow Ontarionian along for the ride. Oh, I have a thing that I do called the "Canadian thumbs up" it's a trademark.... so feel free to thumb it up Canadian style :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You're right on track there! I think it had to do with the fact that the FP line was becoming as long as the standby line. The system just wasn't working the way it should be. In a way, I think it's good but in another way, it'll mean I have to be more careful when I got those FPs.

I'm here, a bit late, but I'm here! :) Great start, those Le Cellier food pictures are making my mouth water, oh I NEED an ADR there, everything looks so good :goodvibes Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Jen, I am FINALLY all caught up (work has been crazy and is only going to get worse the next couple of weeks).

Hooray for an early arrival at Disney; boo to it taking so long to check in.

We were not impressed with LeCellier for dinner in September; steeper prices, can't substitute, etc. I think if we go back it will be for lunch.

You sure did do some damage on the food/drinks though. :goodvibes

Better late than never :thumbsup2 It should be your priority to eat your first meal at Le Cellier next time you go.

I hear ya on the work being crazy. I'm sorry to hear Le Cellier was a big thumbs down for dinner. Lunch is still same old good stuff though....with maple creme brûlée mmmmmm :cloud9:

I'm sorry I'm so late, but I'm here and caught up! :thumbsup2

I really want an IPad, but just to watch movies on the flights down to Disney, but that's a stupid reason to get one, right? :rotfl:

Wow, your Le Cellier lunch looks insane!! Do they always have the martini sampler, or is that new? Everything looks so good! :cool1:

Hey Jen! You know, it took me a while to figure out how I would use an iPad. I always thought it was just a glorified iPhone, without the phone. Then, my DBF got me one and now I can't put it down. It's a fantastic portable mini computer. Who needs a laptop when you've got something like that! One of the main reasons I got an iPhone was to watch movies when I travelled. I see no harm in wanting an iPad for the same reason ;)

I'm not sure if the martini sampler is temporary or something permanent. It was the first time I had ever heard of it and Bubba just knew it existed. I didn't even get a chance to look at the beverage menu to see it was on there!

We waddled over to Soarin' to use our first FP of the trip

IMG_0046.jpg

We got front row in the middle section so that was pretty sweet. After our ride, we went over to Test Track to see if there were still any FP left there. On our way, the times board said there were FP's left for 7:30pm.

IMG_0047.jpg

As we were walking towards the ride, this guy was yelling out that he had two FP's for 7:15pm, which was about 10 minutes away. At first we walked right by until we realized (at the same time) what he was actually offering. Bubba and I turned around and started chasing after him like he was a celebrity or something. We must have looked pretty comical.

IMG_0048.jpg

While we waiting for our FP time to come (standby was around 60 min) we spent time looking at the cars inside and playing some games they have in there. I never noticed all this stuff before. I'm usually eager to get onto the next ride and never take the time.

It's really neat how cars could potentially run on hydrogen and other forms of fuel. Why they don't implement these things is beyond me. The technology all seems to be there. And yet, we're still paying up the wazoo for gasoline?

The time came to get on the ride and we had a blast as usual.

The couple sitting behind us was hilarious. The husband kept saying comments to his wife about how the ride was so similar to how she drives. She was taking it all in good fun but we were just killing ourselves laughing.

After TT, Bubba wanted to introduce me to her roommates from China and Japan so we walked around WS seeking them out. When we got to China, I indulged in some tea since it was starting to get a bit chilly once the sun had gone down. That and my stomach needed a bit of settling after all that food.

IMG_0059.jpg

I got the Ginseng Oolong

IMG_0058.jpg

It was pretty good. Your typical hot tea you'd get at a Chinese restaurant. Warmed me up nice.

Inside the store, I met Bubba's roommate Happy. Best name ever. Of course that's her English name but her Chinese name was a little hard to pronounce and I can't remember it. She was really nice though. I think she had this thing for saying everyone is beautiful. She called me beautiful and had already said Bubba was beautiful when they met. She was a genuinely sweet girl though. I asked her what she thought of the China pavilion (which is something I do with everyone I meet personally that is from the actually country) to see how right Disney gets it. Happy said that it doesn't really reflect what her country is like. Especially the merchandise and food that they sell. She was a bit upset about this. I don't blame her because, well, have you seen the Canadian pavilion?

Her other roommate was from Japan who worked in Tokyo Dining making sushi. Her English was a bit basic so it was hard to communicate in the noisy restaurant. She seemed very nice also. Bubba always gets lucky with good roommates!

We spent some time in the Japan store (who could resist?) and I came upon something from one of my favourite anime movies, Princess Monoke.

IMG_0060.jpg

I also found a cute Nintendo shirt with a bunch of super mario characters on it that I had to buy. Once we left the store, we had about 15 minutes before Illuminations was going to start so we took a spot back over in Canada. We sat down on the rocks set back from the water but still had a nice view.

When the show finished, Bubba and I sat there for another half an hour, just talking and catching up about things. We were in absolutely no rush to get anywhere. It was nice not being part of the exiting herd of people. By the time we were leaving, most of the park had cleared out. There's something peaceful about an empty Epcot. More so than an empty MK. Must be the music…..

On the way back to the resort, we stopped for gas and a car wash. Bubba had to study the menu for her test the next day as she was about to start serving. So I spent about an hour testing her. In case you're wondering, she passed with flying colours :thumbsup2

We went to sleep by about 11pm. I was EXHAUSTED. Little did I know I wouldn't be getting much sleep that night....

Glad Bubba passed!!

I also wonder why it is taking so long to implement hydrogen cars. I do know that the filling stations are really expensive to construct.

Love the update, Jen. First, congrats to Bubba on passing her test!

:woohoo::woohoo: for the fastpasses for Test Track. Gotta love that pixie dust.

Great shots of Illuminations.
