A Semi-Solo President's Day Weekend Extravaganza NEW 4/22 Free Upgrade!

Wow - an upgrade! Very cool! I always think SSR and OKW seem so far from the parks and we never rent a car so we never consider them. I would like to try one of them some time. Seems like the perfect resort for you! Looking forward to AK.

Hey Jen!!! So sorry I haven’t been around much lately! Between the DIS misbehavin’ :badpc: and being super busy with work....... :surfweb:

Finally all caught up again though..............

Love it! My DBF still isn't used to my "kind" of sarcasm. He thinks I'm being so mean sometimes but I always say "I'm just being sarcastic" He'll catch on eventually
His name isn’t Sheldon is it??? :confused3

It was kind of weird not having anyone to talk to. I wouldn't say that I was lonely, just felt awkward at first. And what better way to cure that awkwardness by texting Marv to ask touring advice!
:woohoo:............two straight Jenbear TRs where Marv gets a shout out!!! :cool1:

Great decision BTW! I hope he told you to head to Space Mountain first......... :thumbsup2

I headed over to an empty Liberty Square - literally, it was just me and one other guy and the CM walking along.

Then when we reached the next line of CMs to take us to Splash, it felt like a private escort. It was just me and this other guy and now a group of boys. Hmmm... maybe the crowds weren't going to be as bad as I thought....

Glad I relented and told you to stick with your choice of Splash! Sounds like that worked out best!!! :goodvibes

There were a group of boys ahead of me so I can't say I was the first one to ride that day. Once I was waiting to board, I realized I may have made a mistake in riding Splash first. The first logs took forever to come. What was taking so long?! Finally I got on and enjoyed my favourite ride in MK.

The ride even stopped a few times while I was on it. The whole experience took away 20 minutes of my precious time. I tried to not to let it get to me as I grabbed a FP for later.
I tried to get you to go to Space first!!! :(

Got to Space Mountain with a posted 20 minute wait. I waited those 20 minutes….. and that will be the longest I ever wait for that ride. I hated being stuck in that line up. This was when I started getting a little frustrated with myself. I hadn't toured MK like I normally do when I'm with someone else. Being alone, I wanted to do things my way but at the same time, I paid for it by having to wait in longer lines. Once again, that feeling of knowing you can get on this ride in under 5 minutes really bothered me. I was glad I got on when I did though because the line only got longer….
Hmmm........typical buyer’s remorse when you go against what you know is right........plus you ignore your private Tour Guide’s advice........ :rolleyes1

My server didn't bother me much, which was okay I guess. He seemed busy with other bigger tables anyway. While I waited for my food, I read more of my Steve Jobs book on my phone and people watched. Then along came the food without too long of a wait.

The sweet potato fries were delicious and so was the burger, minus the bun. That thing was a meal in itself! I just ate the patty and skipped the bun. This veggie burger was okay but nothing special. I really liked the fries more than anything. Why can't Disney sell these things at snack carts?? I'd totally buy them over popcorn.
Mmmmm......sweet potato fries on a snack cart!!!! I am sooooo there!!!!

I found these great train pictures that I would later buy for my Dad as a gift for Father's Day.

This is the one I ended up getting him

Love those!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Feeling pretty good after a full meal at LTT and having secured another FP, I decided to treat myself with dessert at Aloha Isle.

Finally got one of those on my trip with Jonathan last October!!! Yum!!!
You must have really been lonely when you started your solo day if you resorted to texting Marv ;)
Heeeeyyyyyyyy!!!! :furious:

You’re just jealous you don’t have your own private Marv the Tour Guide on speed dial in YOUR phone!!! :sad2:
:lmao: Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Really???? :headache:

Love the other updates and pics! I really like SSR, and great you got the upgrade.

More turnstiles at Epcot??? Why does that NOT surprise me???

I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you miss me? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Major :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 on the upgrade to SSR, especially since it is where you really wanted to stay in the first place. We've visited once (I think it was four years ago) and it is a lovely resort.

I hear you on the difference in resorts. It's not that the people are "bad" at the values, it is just that you notice a difference in courtesy, etc., at the deluxes. We were at ASMusic for one night last month and we had some of the rudest people in the lobby and the gift shop. Thankfully, it was only one night.

The restaurant looks really nice and we'll have to give it a try some time.

Just finished reading and subbed. I love when people do things solo at Disney. When I was in the College Program I spent nearly every day by myself in one of the parks - primarily because my roomies were interested in other things but I was obsessed with all things Disney. I could do what I wanted, when I wanted, where I wanted and loved being able to dine alone. One of the best meals I had solo was at Restaurant Marrakesh. The food was great, my server was completely awesome and free belly-dancing entertainment.

Can't wait to read more.
