Well, theres something about that last day that just makes time fly by
doesnt it? The first day of vacation, at least for me, is long and relaxed with all the time in the world in front of you to do what you need to do and that last day is SO far away. Well here we are not only upon the last day but upon the last few waking hours. My flight leaves at 9am, which means Magical Express will pick up at 7am. (darn Delta moved it up by a few hours so I could no longer do the Cape May character buffet).
The boardwalk area is so pretty at night. I need to get better at nighttime pictures. And probably need a tripod- which I really would hate to lug around. Another reason to find a husband!
For my final evening I have an ADR at Le Cellier.
I headed over lazily through England. Saw the tail end of the Beatles tribute band. They were good!! Then I was just browsing in the store in England and noticed a back room. I poked my head in to see what was in there and low and behold it was Tigger and Eeyore with no line! I did get a photopass picture which I will share with you but I dont have my pictures yet. Thats not a complaint. I did a share which worked perfectly for me- it just naturally takes more time for everyone to finish picking their pictures and then when the organizer gets the CD she has to make all the copies and send them out. I only have maybe a dozen or so pictures and couldnt justify the full cost of the photopass. So youll have something to look forward to! Which also reminds me that on the last day I did the Disney Visa meet and greet. I think it was the longest line I waited in all trip! Those pics will be coming too.
So onward to Le Cellier.
I know I posted this before but I like it so here it is again.
The ladies at the front desk were so nice checking me in, asking about my trip etc. Very friendly! They took me right away into the dining room to my table. It was busy but not packed (and stayed this way throughout my dinner). I was surprised b/c Id had such a hard time getting my ADR called at the opening bell on the 180th day and could only get my last night. I suppose it has to do with people canceling (which I did for other ADRs I did call Disney dining to cancel if you were wondering). Anyway, I sat right down and ordered a Torontopolitan (Iceberg Vodka, Chambord, Cranberry juice and Orange juice) and my server brought the pretzel bread. I forget her name but she was so nice! I ordered a cup of the cheddar cheese soup (which Id never had before) and the filet substituting cream cheese mashed potato for the risotto and a side of asparagus. I was hungry!!!
Still no food porn. Hanging head in shame. Le Cellier is similar to Tutto Italia in that the tables are set pretty close together and I was self-conscious(but not as close as in Italy; in Italy I could have eaten off my neighbors plates!). The soup was everything Id heard it would be. DELICIOUS. And the pretzel bread is perfect for dipping. I do not have plans to eat there in December and as I relive this meal am regretting it. Next time! The filet was perfect, mashed potatoes heavenly and asaparagus nice and crisp. Such a good meal!
At the table next to me a couple sat down toward the beginning of my meal and the husband had a dietary restriction. I am not proud to admit this but my first thought was oh goody! Now I can see the chef come out! and not oh thats too bad this poor guy has a life-threatening allergy. The chef (or a chefnot sure if he was the head chef did indeed come out and in addition to thinking he was kinda cute it was interesting to hear the conversation. They went through every item on the menu. I thought that the chef seemed pretty opinionated (suppose he should be as it is his food!) and hed say no you dont want that; pick this or this when the guy asked about some things. It didnt seem like he offered to create something that didnt exist on the menu but then again it sounded like there were enough options on the menu that would work for him.
The dinner ended all too soon and I was stuffed. Too stuffed for dessert! And I didnt even think of taking it to go!!
Another thought to keep in mind for next time! I used my Tables in Wonderland card again for the 20% discount and all in all am glad I purchased that card. I think it paid for itself over the course of my 5 days and on this trip it will be all savings!
After dinner I meandered over to France for one final glass of champagne to go with my final Illuminations viewing. I ended up standing next to a nice woman who was getting some alone time away from her party apparently they were driving her nuts!
It was nice chatting with her as we waited for the show and then the show was as wonderful as ever.
I was certainly sad that it was my last night and perhaps a bit teary. But knowing I would be back in December certainly helped! Im not sure what Ill do next week when I dont have another trip booked and my most definitive plans are for spring 2010!!
I headed with the hordes of people over the bridge from France to England but then broke left to exit via my private gate and headed back to the Beach Club.
