A sad question: If something happened to you, would someone be able to tell us?

After the sad passing of FLORIDACAT and Montessori, I got to wondering whether anyone on the DIS would know what happened to me if I passed away.

I made sure to tell DH that he would have to get on the CB and let everyone know. So sad to think about, but I would feel like you guys should know.

Do you have a plan to notify your DIS friends?

My dd posts here- as does my best childhood friend, so I am sure that everyone would know. I thought of the same thing this morning though.

I thought about this myself....

My sister knows the connection I have here at the DIS, and she is registered. I know she will post.

Let HOPE we don't get anymore of these anytime soon. Such a sad few days!

God bless,

Robinrs

When I broke my ankle, DD Sarah posted something on the CB to let my friends know what had happened. When DW Sue got home, she posted something as me because my computer automagically logs into the DIS. So I can answer "yes".

I'm glad that so far everyone has a plan. It's always so sad when a DISer disappears and then you wonder what happened. Not that hearing someone died is better, but at least we would know.:(

I had this same conversation with a friend today, and amazingly I do have a plan. My husband and my sister both post here, and at the very least, my husband knows who to call/PM/e-mail if something did happen. So one way or another, someone would know.

No one would know what happened to me. All my family knows is that I frequent a Disney message board. They don't know which one. And my friends know nothing about my secret DIS obsession.

I have instructed my sons to get ahold of a couple of DISers who would hopefully make the announcement. We just talked about this the other day........weird!

I was thinking about this too as I read through the threads I've missed while looking at colleges. No one knows I post here. So the answer is no.

Wow, just realized this is my 1000th post. Morbid.

Same situation for me. DH knows I post here, but he has no idea what website. DD was the one that first sent me the link and showed me the site. It is doubtful that she would remember the address.

In the past when we had untimely deaths here I mentioned to DH about posting here if anything ever happened to me and he said he already knew to.
Let hope we dont have to worry about this for anyone else for a long long time. :(

My sister lurks here but I don't think she'd sign in and tell anyone if something happened to me.

Several cousins visit the DIS on occasion too but I doubt they'd say anything either. LOL

Sorry. :p

If I were gone long enough, there are a few friends here who know my full name....I would guess eventually they'd figure it out. :)

I am going to walk off into the sunset and not say.

I recall asking this some years back, I think even before the passing of our first DIS'er, Tinkerbell2300, Stephanie. And before Lady M was registered here.

OMG, I thought of this exact thing this morning.

DH is away on business...so I can't talk to him about it.

He knows I post here; he even has an account but he hasn't posted more than maybe 4 times. I really doubt he would even know what board to put it on... I think he would post it under Scrapbooking to tell you the truth even though I mostly lurk on that one.

But really.... I honestly think it would be months before he thought to tell you guys.

I do email one DISer somewhat regularly (Timon). Maybe somehow he would think to email her eventually.

Ya know.... I wonder if he would even think to keep checking my incoming mail for a while? Hmmmm.

dh would know to post here, YDF, and the Lodge. At the very least he would call a local Diser and they could pass on the news. Its amazing to me how all 3 of my favourite places are interconnected!

One way or the other everyone would know.

Ive been thinking about it today too. Its almost one year ago that I went to the ER with my heart attack scare. Fortunately I was able to post myself the next day.

Should the worst happen Im sure you would all know.

Nope... at least not until my daughter gets old enough to post ;)

DH has been instructed to call bsnyder in the event something happens to me. I guess I should let Bet know about this! I gave him her phone number and told him to call her. I also have Dan and Leota programmed into my cell phone should he lose Bet's number. I got this idea when Beverly Lynn died.....thank God her brother went into her email and found RM's email address and got in touch with her. I shudder to think of one of my friends dying and me not knowing about it, cyber or not, they are still my friends and I care just as much about them as I do my "real life" friends.

I am going to talk to my children and ask them to please let my friends here know if something were to ever happen to me. They do know that I spend a lot of time here but I don't know if they would think to post if anything were to happen.
