Hi,

I just got back from WDW where I visited every resort. My home resort was POP but here are some things about AKL.

The theming of AKL is one of Disney's best. The animals are just right there. They are literally right outside. The savanna rooms, imho, are totally worth the extra money. How cool would it be to watch them.

There is also a lot going on at the lodge. There are African games, arts, crafts, African folktales, animal viewing with night vision and so much more. When I was there, I saw two young women from South Africa play the drums and tell a story. The kids got to play along with instruments that made the sound of rain or leaves rustling on a tree.

The pool is really awesome. I love the zero depth entry and the slide. The outdoor spa was in the shade (something that I like).

The resort is "compact". The walk from the bus stop to the furthest room at the lodge (room 4366) was 8 minutes and all but a minute was INSIDE (out of that blazing Florida sun).

I ate at Boma for dinner while I was there. I loved the prime rib, pasta salad and almond-orange cheesecake flan. Definitely have ressies for this place!

P.S. Some of the DVC rooms at AKL will have concierge access (more points, of course). This will be the only DVC to have concierge access.

there are various depths around the pool ranging from 0 depth entry to 3' to the deepest part I think was around 4' near the slide.

There are life jackets of all sizes readily available.

P.S. Some of the DVC rooms at AKL will have concierge access (more points, of course). This will be the only DVC to have concierge access.

We only visited AKL before we did our last DVC add-on at AKV, and one of the reasons we chose that location was for the Concierge Level. Our first visit to our latest "home" will be in January, staying CL! We thought the resort was so unique and special, that when it was opened to DVC, we hopped on board immediately!:goodvibes

So glad you had such nice things to say about it.

I loved AKL when I was there. I loved the concierge. I wish I could always be there. What a wonderful place to stay!

Thanks for the great review! I'm staying there this Christmas and I can't wait.

We are strongly thinking of trying our 1st 3 nights in April here on points, in a studio. Can you describe the slide for me, I love slides. Was it really really short or long and fun? thanks.

Great review. We loved our last stay there last year so much, we're going back for MVMCP and plan to return to AKL for many years to come. It's an awesome resort with so much to do. The smells of the resort from the lobby are something i just can't discribe. It takes me to a place in my mind that i call Nirvana, truly wonderful scents that i think of as aromatherapy.

We visited AKL last year and we loved the atmosphere. The kids enjoyed the animals being so close to our room.
We loved it so much when my ::MickeyMo found out they were selling time shares he jumped for joy.:sulley:
