Hi,
I just got back from WDW where I visited every resort. My home resort was POP but here are some things about AKL.
The theming of AKL is one of Disney's best. The animals are just right there. They are literally right outside. The savanna rooms, imho, are totally worth the extra money. How cool would it be to watch them.
There is also a lot going on at the lodge. There are African games, arts, crafts, African folktales, animal viewing with night vision and so much more. When I was there, I saw two young women from South Africa play the drums and tell a story. The kids got to play along with instruments that made the sound of rain or leaves rustling on a tree.
The pool is really awesome. I love the zero depth entry and the slide. The outdoor spa was in the shade (something that I like).
The resort is "compact". The walk from the bus stop to the furthest room at the lodge (room 4366) was 8 minutes and all but a minute was INSIDE (out of that blazing Florida sun).
I ate at Boma for dinner while I was there. I loved the prime rib, pasta salad and almond-orange cheesecake flan. Definitely have ressies for this place!
